Started out with a gray Kentucky sky and wet snow flurries this morning. Just got notice of the new upload. Now the sun is shining, sky has cleared, temperature is past 55 degrees and I can even hear a bird singing outside my window (no joke... My resident mockingbird). I'd say that's proof your posts bring a ray of sunshine to the day. Thanks!
@@williamknox9087 Can I gloat that it reached a high of 61 degrees? Still 52 at 7:30 pm. Doesn't bode well though. Forecast is for mid-60's through Friday, but a high of 25(!) degrees Saturday. Too unusual for March. Extremes bring on tornadoes. Already been thru that in '97. Wasn't fun. Keep warm my Buckeye neighbor.
Great work. I love your narration. Maria Louisa Gabriella was a strong queen of Spain despite being of French origin. She had great influence as a political adviser during the War of the Spanish Succession.
Great choice for the international women's day. Your narration sounds particularly happy in this one. And again it's pleasing the historian. Well done!
Very interesting! If I am not wrong, as Queen, Maria Gabriella Louisa was also under the influence of Marie-Anne de La Trémoille, la princesse des Ursins, a french noblewoman. La princesse des Ursins has been made camerera mayor of the Queen by Louis XIV and Madame de Maintenon, who wanted to exerce control on the young spanish royal couple. A video about la princesse des Ursins would be very nice to watch!
Ive always loved history!! Peoples lives especially fascinate me!! You are so easy to listen to!! You make me feel like I'm right there experiencing it firsthand :) Thanks much!! 🤩
Very courageous lady! Physically as well as mentally with all of those pregnancies, but sadly even the strongest person's health can buckle under prolonged adversity, but I am amazed at the fortitude these people had at such young ages.
Another wonderful video! So informative but I have to wonder about the abilities of those who painted her. Such drastic differences in how she looked and for one so young!
One of Spain's dearest queens. Sadly neither of her sons, Louis and Ferdinand had children. And they both had a terrible childhood at the hands of their stepmother Elisabetta Farnese
Hello, Thank you for this fabulous video with so many portrait paintings. Her father didn't win the Jackpot in looks but Maria and her sister look pretty. Philip V was handsome too in his portrait. Naughty of me to bring in pysical appearance in our woke culture but I am fascinated by people and thier faces. I feel rather ashamed I didn't know of Maria's history so it was particularly fascinating to learn of her intelligence, loyalty and being an admired Regent and Queen of Spain. 😘💖xxx
More family docs! You are definitely my #1 channel! This was excellent! Thank you so much! 🤎🌞 Because of your well detailed, researched and very interesting historical videos you deserve millions of likes!
Wow! What a legend! HOW did she do such an amazing job as Regent at such a young age?!? I know she would've had help, but still! And yet another example of a marriage alliance meaning nothing, cos many rulers were quite happy to wage war on a country where their daughter or sister was queen if it suited their interests. It was interesting to hear a bit about the War of the Spanish Succession & the start of the Bourbon dynasty in Spain too.
Ah, back on Terra Firma....France! No more silly English people. I so enjoy your videos and the cheerful sound of your voice. Thank you again for another wonderful presentation!
Admirable woman to be sure . I was definitely on the side of the Hapsburgs and English. If you really want to do a story on someone from the House of Savoy , you ought to do one on the Greatest of them all , Prince Eugene . Prince Eugene is considered one of the greatest Field Marshals in the History of Warfare. Definitely on par , with Alexander the Great , Julius Ceasar , Erich Van Manstein , and Subatai. Prince Eugene and John Churchill, the Duke of Marlborough another giant in Military History, were such best friends , you could call it the greatest Bromance since Ceasar Augustus and Marcus Agrippa .
Her son's had no descendants She was a truly good wife and her husband loved her so much She was contrasting different with the next queen consort She was almost as Bourbon as her husband, genetically that was a chaos haha Thank u for this bio
I think a very intetesting video would be a detail of exactly what was involved with a "proxy-wedding" during these times. The term is used a lot, and I understand it was necessary bc of distance and even the ages of the couples. But was there actually some kind of ceremony? Or was it simply an exchange of signatures on a contract? I don't know if there is enough interesting information for an entire video on the subject, but perhaps a good researcher like you can uncover a few fascinating tidbits. Salud!
Not to be picky but at 3:25 you say she was "re-appointed as regent of France". That should be 'regent of Spain" shouldn't it? Otherwise, very interesting!
The Queen was just a wonderful, much adored and outstanding woman! Absolutely! And a very talented ruler...It's because of the poor medicine of that time that she couldn't live longer(. Thank you very much for this video!

Enjoy the sunshine today ! ☀️
The same in Cleveland - minus 20 degrees!
So I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Gloat you may. Rest assured I would if I could.

That is correct. Madame Des Ursines was her first lady in waiting if I'm not mistaken.

I agree, but then again, the times forced them to grew up much faster !

great as allways what`s next
Odd that there's no mention of the Princess d'Ursins. One woman ruling through another woman was a rare occurrence indeed in European history.
I explain more Madame Des Ursins in my upcoming video on Elisabeth Farnese. It is scheduled for release on May 4.

Her sons didn't have children so she doesn't have direct descendants, what a pity!

Yes, slip of the tongue.
Can you do one on Elisabetta Farnese next please
A video for her is planned in about a month
Yayyyy Savoia!!

Great suggestion Maarit, she's extremely interesting ! I'll put her on my 'to do' list !
Minor slip in a very good video: Wasn't she reappointed Regent of Spain, not France, when her husband went to put down a revolt?
Yes, you're so right. A slip of the pen/tongue. I'll see if I can add a correction card this evening !
