This is the daughter of my all time favourite royal, the Princess of the palatinate (Liselotte). I have read her memoirs and letters many times (available free on the Gutenberg press for anybody interested). My dear you never fail to feed my hunger for these European biographies!! 🙏 Thank you. I am always amazed at how well you illustrate your videos. A lot of these portraits can’t be that easy to find. Sehr vielen Dank! Viele Grüße aus 🇨🇦. (My limited German from childhood lol.)
She’s one of my favorites too along with Anne Marie Louise d'Orléans, Duchess of Montpensier, known as La Grande Mademoiselle, the only daughter of Gaston d'Orléans with his first wife, Marie de Bourbon, Duchess of Montpensier.
I love the fact that Palatine was so furious with her son Philippe II, Duke of Orléans for agreeing to marry her bother in laws (King Louis XIV) legitimised daughter, Françoise Marie de Bourbon (known as Mademoiselle de Blois) she slapped hin on the face in in full view of the court and turned her back on the king as he bowed to her.
Another great video! Thank you for doing a video on Elisabeth Charlotte's daughter. She sounds a lot like her mother. I'm sorry only five of her children lived. That had to be so hard. I forgot that she was Marie Antoinette's grandmotherr.
Very interesting- it's good you've just done covered her son, so I was sorta familiar with some of her story. I had the same thought: giving someone a new Duchy(?) isn't really a fair replacement for taking the Duchies they inherited, which their family had ruled for generations, & it doesn't sound overly brilliant politically either- like, the original family knew the place & had experience ruling it, & if the people there liked their ruling family, that could cause problems too. I'm no politician tho!
What a fantastic video. Elisabeth Charlotte d'Orlean is such a fascinating figure. I must admit that I did not know much about her before watching this video though I've learnt about her mother and daughter-in-law, Empress Maria Theresa before. Thank you so much for telling her story. Truly an inspiring figure.
Very well done! Your catalogue of videos is a valuable resource for this time period. You fill the names with people and bring it all to life. I always look forward to your next video!
Wow,such a strange turn of events for her, poor thing I would have been resentful of Stanislof if I were her.She was holsum and a bueaty in her early years. Thanks for all you do and bring us .I always can't wait to see what you surprise us with and all your hard work in doing so,I just love your voice and accent,it reminds me of my family, and I miss that.Merci Madame ⚜️👑🌞🙂💙
Astonishing! Absolutely complete information about the historical figures I’m interested in! Always get so much pleasure when watching the videos! Many thanks and respect to The Kings of France!🙏
But the Orleans dynasty got their revenge when Louis Phillipe, the citizen king and descendant of Elisabeth Charlotte, gained the French throne in 1830.Lost it again however, in 1848 but his children married into other royal dynasties like Belgium and Sweden and even Brazil I think. The royal mausoleum of the Orleans family is at Dreux in northern France in a Gothic revival building.
Her daughters were really pretty, the one that didn't married looked like her grandmother Elisabeth Charlotte Thank you for the details in your videos, and the images make me travel to that time haha
There are a lot of channels that are already covering the English royals. Not sure if I should be the next one to start stirring that pot... Not sure if there's much left to be said.
Yessss madam I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again you keep serving the children history thank you!
Thank you SO much !
