I discuss the differences and similarities between the two Emotiva BasX - A100 and the BasX TA-100. Both great but for two different reasons. emotiva.com?aff=9
I bought the TA-100 on sale from emotiva for $350. I moved from a large house to apartment so don't need much power so this works great. I have a pair of NHT SB3's and I use the Receiver/Amp for TV sounds through optical, Sonos Connect with the Coax. I have connected my Macbook through the USB connection on a Schiit Modi 3 to analog. Like most people, I hate the remote. The center button should not be mute but a navigation button. I makes navigation unnecessarily difficult. I don't know why they would reinvent the wheel. Overall, great! I'm building a a Parts Express, 8" DIY DSP Subwoofer kit to boost my bass a bit. I am probably going to add a turntable back into my system at some point.
Enjoyed this review, especially your down to earth style. I just happened to have a fresh brewed cup of Joe as I sat down to watch this, and they went well together.I have a TA-100, and I'm happy with it. Great suggestion on the bluetooth receiver, I think I'll pick one up since I'm streaming a lot of stuff from Apple Music. All in all, this integrated amp is a nice place to start for the money with the ability to move up the power chain keeping it as a pre-amp. Just subscribed. Thanks.
For the money for emotiva ta-100 if you have the cash and that's what you're looking to spend it offers such great diet and bells and whistles along with complete build it is the integrated amp to beat
I have the A-100 and apart from some QC issues, it's a great sounding desktop speaker amp. (one replacement for loud hissing at any volume, new one sometimes has crackling sound when adjusting the volume - might warranty it again if it gets worse over time). Also those rubber feet are horrible, they were/are uneven on both units and leave black residue on furniture. But when it works it works great, it's a lot of AMP for 200$. Wouldn't recommend it for IEMs, which I guess is pretty obvious, it's too noisy.
I have the A-100 and the PT-100 preamp/DAC/Tuner and it's a great desktop solution. The a-100 powers my 93 db aDs 910s or the 94db L810s with authority and, because I have a very large SVS sub shoehorned into a small room, was advised to use both of the summed sub outputs as left/right into the sub, basically doubling the signal output. Works great! I've never tried the bypass jumpers as the a-100 drives all my headphones just fine without the added power, though I would like to find out if it sounds different/better with the jumpers in place.
After your glowing reviews on the TA100, I placed an order a month ago. I received notification that it was delayed twice then stumbled across the new TA1 on their site. After chatting with them I decided to cancel the original order for the TA100 and order the TA1 instead. It will arrive today, and I hope it doesn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to running it through it's paces and hearing your thoughts on it at some point.🤞
@@rhyselliott9170 It's been a solid unit so far. I use it for vinyl 90% of time. I have a project debut carbon evo, project phono box mm preamp and emotiva b1+ bookshelves. @cheapaudioman - really enjoying your channel. Thanks for pumping the content out so quickly. Found myself trialing many of the speakers you're reviewing during downtime in 2020. Question for you regarding the TA-100. How do you feel it would pair with the rp-600m's? I'm currently using an older NAD 325bee and would like to upgrade to something with digit input/dac feature. Spot on with the Elac UB52 review btw, I've not heard piano done better.
@@cheapaudioman Do you think I might be better off purchasing an external DAC and keeping the NAD 325bee? Dac Magic 100 of something of the sorts, Schiit Moda 3.
The TA would be good, but their XPA line is great! I’m running an XPA 3 for my front stage consisting of klipsch Rp280 towers and a 504c center channel. With this amp you have the option of adding 4 more amp boards to equal 7 channels total. I was considering the TA when I called Emotiva to pick their brain and they talked me into the XPA for its future proofing ability and better sound quality and I’m not disappointed whatsoever. Just my 2 cents.
So what’s the difference between using the headphones output of the bass x100 with the jumper in place and just using the actual speaker terminals of the amp to run a pair of headphones? You can still use the left and right hot leads from the speaker terminals and they can share a ground.
The build design/quality of these things truly screams out "im a $1k+ piece of kit" Would you consider these worthy of duking it out with the $1k gear? I suppose Im asking you if Fast Car by Tracy Chapman would have me shit me pants on these bad boys?
yup. These are built like a $1k machine and it makes sense because they're direct to consumer and this was what I was using when the great Chapman Incident of 2020 took place.

By the way, I would say to some people something which might blow their minds, it certainly did mine when I first heard it... but let's say the Aiyima A07 stereo power amp did 320 watts total(that's 160 watts per channel, double what the power adapter rating actually is), that's 160 wpc vs. 80 wpc, the difference in speaker volume output would only be 3 dB, yes, that's right, just 3 dB. Just something to keep in mind. Obviously, I do realize the TA-100 is an integrated amp and more, not just a simple power amp, but you do also talk about the Aiyima T8 tube preamp which pretty much offers all the features of the Emotiva and even has Bluetooth built-in.
