Very interesting! The original Ethernet from Xerox Parc was a bus architecture. It went point-to-point later when it was more convenient to connect a new device without having to break the bus to splice in a new node. So with this it has gone full circle. It does suffer from the problem that Canbus has, which is that one faulty node can bring down the whole bus.
0:34 Here is a demonstration of precisely how NOT to coil Ethernet cable! Most usually, the eight wires are all solid-core, not filament strands and should not be mangled into a ball like that. However, even if that was a stranded Ethernet patch, as occasionally smaller lengths are, it should still be coiled loosely.
If everything goes to an ethernet flavor, is there a standard diagnostic protocol being used to replace the canbus codes? Or is this yet another way for OEMs to lock down their vehicles from third party repair?
I hear him talking about various ethernet developments across numerous mainline manufacturers - but almost nothing specifically about what Tesla is doing. So is that just a deficiency in my understanding - or is there still a serious deficiency of understanding and application of ethernet, with total integration of ringbus to zonal architecture, of the type that Tesla appears to be talking about ?
I love seeing this video go live. Thanks to everyone who watched this!
THANKS MUNRO,FOR THE REVIEW 🤗💚💚💚
Cool tech talk. Learned a lot.
Doing "chip to chip" talk, like it's on the same mainboard, but is in reality elsewhere in the car ... that's pretty cool.

Good talk! Thanks. Will there be a 10Based 100TS (10x speed)?
Good to know.
