Having the clock on the tripod was a really, really good idea!!
After watching the whole video, he pokes you in the eye right near the end. I can't wait to see the next part with the stone handle.
At 6:16 when Kyle dad said “whoa” I just felt super happy
I wish the videos were longer. Love this guy 😊
As a viewer I enjoy the forging much more than the stock removal.
As a machinist, I enjoy both.
As a viewer I simply love everything. It’s both interesting as well as amusing. They do such a great job in creating good content.
I feel the same. Even removing stock is rough work it is still influencing the result having something individually, unsymmetrical made with its makers own hand.
Everytime I watch you making knives and swords I just know that, regardless the time I'm investing, I'll never reach that level of perfection. Stunning work!
Holy hell, that sword build at 10:58 has me excited AF
When you've got those big smiling eyes, we all know you feel you really did something right in your craft. Enjoy the process, us viewers will too, can't wait to see the final result!
Something so satisfying about a good mill. (Rick voice) True level !
Man, that final fitup of the guard and blade is so exact, it makes it very satisfying to look at
8 MONTH sword build?! Oooooo yeahhhh! (I might save and binge them)
Never been earlier!
Edit: After watching I feel bad that I cared about being early. This man is the most precise kind of person in the best kind of way. I wish I had passion for something like this guy does. I mean, the results speak for themselves.
I just LOVE your perfectionism !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The patients he has to get things up perfect blows my mind every video. It’s what sets Kyle apart.
Wait, patients? He is a doctor!?
Im so envious of the passion Kyle has. This is what loving what you do looks like.
I here again! looking forward to seeing the end result!
Great work Kyle. The fit is perfect. Glad to see you're using the mill more for this precise work. Loved the music in the background Josh.
Go Team Royer!
Mr. Royer, I have been a hobby level knife maker for...a long time. And you Sir take it to a whole other level. I am admiring your exactness and your attention to detail, good job.
Highlight of the week is when I get the notification about a new video from you. Keep up the great work. 👍👍👍
I love seeing you goof around in between making world class blades like that. I'm excited for the sword!
Mr Royer could you please do a video where you discuss other blacksmiths who you learned from, respect and admire please? Perhaps you could break them down by price range, style and speciality please?
We would all love to own one or more of your pieces but not all of us could afford your work, owning a great piece by someone you respect, admire and or have taught you something is the next best thing I’d say!
Back in the 80s when I got my first board (cheap as chips) and went bombing hills for the trill, now iam learning to teach my teenage kids the correct/ safe way to enjoy bombing hills 😊 really appreciate your time to share your experience and knowledge!
Awesome! Good looking guard!
Can't wait for the shtone handle😂😂😂👍👍👍
I'm looking super forward to watching you make the stone handle, ever since you mentioned you wanted to try it a while back I have been eagerly waiting for you to go for it, so stoked!!
Loved seeing the anvil work. Reminds me I have 3 horses needing shod tomorrow. Thanks.....thanks a lot! Thank you boys, yet another fantastic piece of work. The metal work and the video.
i cant wait to see the stone handle!
“Plate of Dooom!!!” 😂
You are quite simply one of the best (if not THE best) and funniest Smith's on here Kyle, your work amazes me every time and man you make me laugh. A serious talent that doesn't take it too seriously lol 😂
Thank you for loving the milling machine more and your layout work👌
That guard really does look stunning with the blade, even at the stage it’s at. I can’t wait to see the stone handle process, really excited and curious to see how it’s done/ looks. Keep up the amazing work, your masterpieces are second to none!
Another master class in guard fit up!
You all are so awesome!
Like the sharpie anvil trick! Haven’t seen that one before!
Bro... So satisfying
Been loving the editing. Appreciate those slowmo and close up shots of the big mill
Your videos are incredible
stone🤔very nice 😮he,s got a knife"thats not a knife it's a work of art😂😂👍👍
It's an 'Integral Guard' Since the shape is like the symbol in calculus for the integral!
Really enjoy watch you work, such detail. It’s looking awesome! Cannot wait for the stone handle work
Nicely done
Great job 👍🇦🇺 16:18
Cool ! Another episode, I've been waiting 😢
Haha yeah buddy....
Once again one of the best smith. Good luck and keep going
I love this channel. It is why instarted making small knives.
I love the whole process; keep the content coming 👍🏾
Right on! Looking forward to seeing the shaping of the stone. I wanted to get into using jade for my knife handles but lapidary equipment is just out of my budget at the moment.
That reminds me of the scene from Team America where the lefties are like "We're guards.....gourds....guh-ards. Guards, we're gards. Guards!"
Mmm, a stone handle, I sure would like that if I was making one to.
10:55 This sounds exciting.
The steel you used was about 8 times bigger than it needed to be but I get that hand forging stuff like that isn't your specialty. Looks great!
Have you ever thought of maybe making the stone some high end Dolomite? There are some with some absolutely crazy patterns
The good thing is you could hit up granite and marble stores and see if they have something with a bunch of inclusions that are unideal for making countertops
Dear Santa..
@KyleRoyerKnives
whats the price for this masterpiece?
Do you ever have to deal with perfectionism when you work? I'm no smith, but I am an artist, and I frighten myself into immobility with the notion that everything I create must stand the test of time. I imagine it's a little easier with almost two decades of experience and a professional career under your belt, but what about when you were just starting off? Loving the vids by the way!
You know what would be funny if Kyle edited one of his videos so that during the high speed time lapse he has someone else doing something at normal speed so it looks like Kyle has super speed.😉😆
Keep forging on. I see what you did there.
the music was very sensual in this video lolol
If you figured out the controller, perhaps do a video tutorial on that?? Can't find my pamphlet after I moved.
Talking to Brian Housework was using 5 KPA or whatever is on the gauge. Now just max it out from the start of the cycle, the argon literally last forever on the oven. Forging stainless steel guard the scale wiped off with my finger.
Yes..... Sword build. Been waiting on another sword for ages. When is Dad building his first sword?
Kyle...when are you going to make a 19th Century style Bowie????
Would you ever consider making a knife or sword for your twenty years of knife making that would be cool
the argon has to be present the whole time for it to eliminate scale so when you heated it then introduced the argon it was oxidising al that time and when it was cooling slowly a bit of argon might have escaped and introduced oxygen into the system
Looks great...again :) Question : is there a reason to make the fuller/bloodgroove to extend beyond the guard? For blades that have such a groove and are actually used( i doubt your blades will see much use :) ) would it not be a spot that could accumulate dirt and difficult to clean?
👍👍👍
🎉
How many flutes does that squeaky cutter have?
When you wrote "from scratch" I though you will be building a bloom steel furnace to make the steal :)
Anybody know what dental tool Kyle uses? I use a 50k rpm pencil die grinder, but have never been able to find a higher rpm tool.
Have you ever been on "Forged in Fire"?
Ma is always right
Did you say that pneumatic rotary tool spins at 350,000 RPM?
I had to find it. It's an NSK Presto II, designed for dental use!
Question: Why not just mill the guard?
What anvil is that?
knife verry good you
Word of caution: mills in a drill chuck can have significant runout, and aren't as secure. You're better off using a collet directly mounted into the quill.
Serenity Pt.7 : The Stone Age
🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
i love ur channel
😎 👍🏼
FIRSSSSSSST!!!!
Lol 90 sec and I was 20th
🏆
@@KyleRoyerKnives you honor me Master🙏🏻
Part 6? Josh, was that a mistake?
Dude, you can't put an endmill in a chuck. You have to put in in a collet.
with only 18 points of carbon any hardening shouldnt be possible, the surface may "work harden" but doubtful maybe your lucky!!
early
When ever you talk mesuarements my mind goes blank, instead I just guesstimate how many mm or cm your talking about.
Just try minimizing your facial expressions .... they are triggering
Sounds like a you problem
Wow. Your skills defines your work and being as young as you are only suggest that with wisdom your talent for moving steal will rocket into history. That detail you did to make the gaurd fit is a perfect example of justifying the end cost for a finished product. I my friend would spend the $$ for your knives. For now please allow me to just enjoy watching you create these individual works of art. AND not kissing butts either, paying respect to when I see is due. A cheer if you wanna go there then. Lol.
