This is why I would NEVER TELL A SINGLE PERSON that I won until after collecting.
No. You collect and disappear.
Not even to your pets? 🐕 🐈
The first thing they tell you is sign the ticket. Anyone winning should go straight to the lottery office. But people like to brag and run their mouths off and tell the world they won all this money, thats how they become targets. Remember Abraham Shakespeare, the dimwit who won millions in the lottery and ended up in concrete in a new driveway? I doubt this claimant has a leg to stand on. "Reggie" really? Hahaha! The phantom Reggie stole his ticket, sure. Good luck with that lawsuit.

This is insane. If I won this I wouldn’t even tell my wife until I cash out and we start making plans to move to our own island lol

No because then it would be easier for lottery officials to claim prizes.
@@moneyindabankI think you're clueless. Completely clueless. The reason he's saying they should be kept confidential is because people come out of the woodwork, begging for money, threatening you, it never ends. What robbery is.... Taking over half of the winnings in taxes.
I love my home state and it’s the least I can do after a wonderful stroke of luck winning.
That is definitely a white color crime. Didn't even make a billion from 2 billion.
It’s not robbery because the winner signed the dotted line.

This happened a few years ago. A lady won $64 million, and some other random lady said the ticket was hers and it was stolen. She later confessed to the lottery officials that she made it up. The winner's money was seized and frozen for weeks while the lottery people investigated. Same thing here, but all they have to do is pull the cameras.

Whenever you buy a lottery ticket make sure to sign it immediately. That’s the only way to secure your winnings
I won a very tiny amount 2 years ago (?) & the cashier hounded me ( thank GOD) to sign the ticket, even before going to the bathroom.
Don’t sign it immediately if you live in a state that allows for anonymous lottery claims. Because to protect your privacy, you’ll need to establish an entity to claim the winnings. But in a state like CA which doesn’t allow it, yeah, you may as well sign it right away. And then lock it up in a fireproof safe at home.
@@SL-lz9jr - actually, in a state like CA, if you don’t sign it, you can set up a trust and have the trust accept the winnings, leaving your identity a secret. Otherwise the whole world must know your identity, per state law.

We don't know the details of the alleged theft . it could've been stolen with other items which were the thiefs main target. Also, people will take a lotto ticket hoping that its a winner.
The lawyers would be the winners after everything was said and done.
I once won a jackpot on a slot machine gave them all my info and license then while standing waiting to get paid by the slot attendant a total stranger crazy lady sat down at the machine that the bell was ringing for 15 minutes and claimed she won the jackpot. They did not pay me !!! We got security and the police that were there. They had to review the surveillance tape and the manager finally came and said “pay the man that’s his jackpot”. The woman was actually crying and saying “no it’s mine”. I said”I want her locked up for attempted theft” … she stood up and bolted out the door. They never caught her. I hope the scammer gets locked up for attempted theft and extortion. Stay cool 😎
I just saw a video of a CA lottery official saying they ALWAYS check the surveillance video whenever it's available to verify the actual winner.
and that can be confirmed with Phone GPS (or car) with the time and location of purchase. They also ask questions about how you regularly play and can compare data. Keep your old Tickets!
It is absolutely sickening how the US government can tax lottery winning other counties don't!
Yeah most countries tax 10% max. The us taxes over 60%. It’s straight up theft.

Edwin castro has 950 mil to buy some good lawyers 😂😂
Nah bro he stole that from ME
these type of lawsuits are very common for big time lottery winners. Lawsuits come with the jackpot.
Lawsuits is everything. It doesn't matter if it's common. If someone ticket was stolen then it's safe to say that people do their proper investigation. Many people are willing to do anything with stealing.
Now these days you can buy the lotto ticket digital on your phone so no one can claimed or steal your ticket.

The biggest crime is the $1,043,000,000 deduction from the winnings. I’d be happy with the money but that’s mildly infuriating. Lol
Agree with you. With a $2B jackpot, I would take the Annuity option. Instead of him getting $1.26B after taxes over 29 years, he got approx. $635 Million lump sum, stupid decision. Another dumb mistake by Catro, aside from not signing and making a copy of the ticket after he knew he won.
Greed is playing a role
The fact that "Reggie" offered to split it means the guy has a case. why else would you do that if you indeed are the winner.
Here come the lawyers 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10
That is not correct.
God gave mankind freewill, the freedom to choose life and good, death and evil.
Deuteronomy 30:15-19
“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil….”
God allows man to become enraptured with false religions for the same reason he permits a married man to become attracted to women other than his wife.
Freewill is within your grasp.
Virtue is only possible when sin is alluring.
Therefore Christian, it’s not the money that is the root of all evil, but instead, it’s ones choices that is made that can be evil. Money can be used for good, including charity. This is up to the individual.
In this case, greed and dishonesty is the culprit here. Not the money. They could just the same be fighting over a bag of candy or a woman and not money and there would be the same outcome.

You cannot win a debate against TaNaKh.
Your understandings I’ve already considered as a longtime Christian. It fake news.
Because all you are doing is using a Greek manuscript (the “New” fake Testament) and trying your best to override TaNaKh by anonymous gospel writers written in the third person, or like you have in your original comment, using the dreamer of dreams prophet known as Paul of Tarsus, who used someone else’s name (Timothy) to spread lies, worthlessness and futile things.
Paul of Tarsus, hated by even Jesus’ own cronies, and eventually executed because of his filthy unspeakable crimes.
You have ignorantly chosen to listen not to God, but instead, a known heretic liar who deliberately mistranslated Torah in his own writings, all of which were warning the church’s that he may have had it all wrong to begin with.
Do you have any idea how much trouble you are in?
Poor Timothy didn’t write a single word in the Christian doctrine. His name was simply used make seem that Paul’s lies, worthlessness and futile things seemed legitimate, desperately not wanting to be alone.
What a shame.
He stole it from me too !!!! Just give me a million and all forget about it.
Wait isn’t the the lottery officials should look at the cameras. This is fishy asf
I don't think so. I think he just happened to know the person and was let in on the big secret and he decided hey maybe if I lie about having bought it I could get a piece or maybe all of it just by lying about it and insisting I bought it. Every store has camera nowadays so he's gonna lose and the rich guy will probably sue him back to bankrupt him for annoying him.
Questions is who saved video back in November 4 months ago
Right. I think they should always do that.
@@victorharyono2060I’m sure the ca lottery took the video as evidence immediately after the draw
Show the video of who bought the tickets, it happened to a lady that didn't know that she was a winner until they showed the video of her buying the ticket and then people identified her 😊
Hopefully the gas station has a video. There are advance play options when buying tickets, so it could have been purchased weeks before the drawing. Does your average convenience store gas station keep security videos for weeks, or even months, when there's no reason to save them? After a while the recordings are probably written over with new recordings.
😊😊😲😲👍👍 oh thnk you know i know the lady bought the ticket :)
Is not that hard to figure out by looking back on the date the tickets was brought just hope police doing work and for the guy who claims it and not the one buying ticket = jail time
Technically, he filed a police report..So, it's possible if it's a lie.
I've seen once, and heard of more incidents where someone has had their tickets snatched away after checking their tickets at the lottery vending machines, where ticket info is displayed for all to see. I can only imagine a large prize being displayed at one if these lotto MurderMachines will end up getting someone killed someday.
The one I saw was a woman who was checking her ticket at a Quik Trip. The machine showed she won $160, but before she could react some guy grabbed it from her hand and bolted out the door.
For super large prizes, it will not say the amount. I think it says to see retailer or claim at lottery office…. Something like that, I forgot.
Is it not written on the ticket " sign your ticket"...it's there for this reason..
Good for him. No matter how old, or short, or fat he may be, a lot of beautiful young girls are going to " fall in love" with him now.
If you do something for somebody do it out your heart or don't do it at all.
When you buy your ticket always sign it before you leave the store
Here in florida, alot of places will let me use my debit card to buy lottery as long as i buy something else. Just an added level of authenticity against bogus claims.
How do you let someone steal your ticket yeah 🤔 that's hard to believe
All of the vultures are coming out.
Maybe. When compared to the number of people who win these types of lotteries, it's rare for somebody else to come forward and say they were the actual winner. It happens, but rare.

I called it........I called it several weeks ago. I said there was something going on with this powerball winner and he or she could have lost the ticket. But, I didn't know someone is claiming the ticket was stolen from him.
I thought the exact thing.
It was a good idea that the lottery somehow show the moment the winner is buying the ticket in the way that the winner cannot be fully recognized, I believe the stealing story can be true since the lottery can have access to the footage in few days and with the little help, they can recognize the winner (facial recognition) find his address, spy on him, steal the unsigned ticket...
The one who pressed the lawsuit knows what he is doing. This is a way to get the winner (real winner) to settle out of court, so he walks away with something. Better than nothing...
@@Reelunique None of what you said is valid.
The lottery was delayed because of a glitch with the Minnesota Lottery’s verification system. This was announced on the day of the drawing. The California Lottery did not have a glitch. All participating state Lotteries had to wait until the Minnesota issue was resolved. It was not delayed “for more than 24 hours” as you incorrectly stated.
California does not tax lottery winnings, so your statement on taxes seems irrelevant and misguided. The neighborhood that the winning ticket was sold at is not a wealthy area, and especially not “one of the wealthiest regions in the entire country.” You’re equating that area with the high income portions of Altadena and Pasadena, which is misleading and not representative of the demographics they serve.
Anyone could easily look this up if they didn’t pay attention as it was happening, instead of just making up lies on the internet to push a narrative.
@@Reelunique I don’t believe what you say and correct me if I am wrong, but the Powerball drawings are held in Florida and not in California.
That's before but today whoever sign the ticket is the winner period 👌...stealing or not whoever sign it is the winner
Keep in mind if you do lottery pool you need to copy your ID and create agreement paper that sign by each person whoever join that pool so if the person who hold the ticket run away they can file lawsuit easily against the person if just mouth to mouth doesn't prove anything...even if they have cctv camera lottery official said whoever hold that ticket stolen or not they're the winner...
@@TurnTheCameraOff I had to research what you said about taxes with CA and your right. I never knew that! People always want to file a lawsuit on BS! You made good points 😊
If Reggie stole the ticket the day before the lottery numbers came out, he should owe him $2 because that’s all the ticket was worth.
That sucks. My mom threw away my Powerball ticket before the drawing. The only consolation was that there wasn't even a $1mil winning ticket even close to where I bought the ticket... So not too much of a potential loss.
@King Ming Ming Lol that's a really funny Story, keep playing dreams do come through
@King Ming Ming 😆
A lottery ticket is a bearer bond; the bearer (holder) of the ticket is the only person who is legally entitled to the winnings. Technically, the pre-drawing ticket has a "face value" only $2, $4, $6, etc. depending on how many draws are on the ticket (a maximum of 10 draws or $20). Therefore, the "crime" of theft would not be for $2.04B, it would be for the price paid for the ticket. And any robbery or theft under $600 in Ca is a misdemeanor. The thief would be (at most) issued a fine. This case won't see the light of day.
This isn’t hard to solve at all if the cameras at the gas station was working because they can know exactly who purchased the ticket at that specific time. If the cameras are not, good luck proving anything.

Make sure your signature is readable.
Photograph or make color copy of the front of the ticket and copy back of the ticket showing your signature.
Make 2 colored copy, double sided.
Keep one locked up somewhere and one in your room.
If person steals your ticket and cash it, you can present your colored copy as proof to:
Lotto commission, police, and lawyer.
If you lost your ticket, you can present as proof you purchased the ticket.
I make colored copies of my ticket after I get home whether it is a winner or not, complete with my signature on the back.
Make a habit of it, it might become useful in the future if you should win the lotto, just incase of a dispute.
Also, the lotto commission should be able to go back on the gas station camera to see who purchased the ticket, how many ticket, what time, and day and which gas station.
You can take the pair of clothes you wearing to show as backup proof.
It also doesn't hurt to take picture of front and back of your ticket with your signature.
All you have to do is show the picture on your phone if someone decides to be crooked and shred the papers or throw it away without your permission.
