- While Jesus likely spoke a few languages, including Hebrew and Greek, he spoke with his disciples and delivered his sermons in Aramaic. Scholars have come to a consensus that this ancient dialect was the primary language of Jews living in Palestine during the first century.
Looking at the two appearances of the Lord’s Prayer in the New Testament (Luke’s and Matthew’s Gospels), scholars have found that the translations lead us back to Aramaic. In the first century, this prayer was delivered by Christ for everyone - not just people who were educated in Greek or Hebrew. The Lord’s Prayer is for everyone - anytime, anywhere.
Praying the Lord’s Prayer in its original language offers a special opportunity to remove ourselves from the modern world. Through prayer, we can better appreciate the beauty of Christ’s words from the first century.
Often, when we read or listen to a prayer we aren’t as familiar with, it helps us meditate on it in a new way. By praying the Lord’s Prayer in its original language, we might find a new way of connecting with Christ in our daily meditations.

I'm a Navy veteran. Raised catholic. Suffered from ptsd. I began meditation because I could find no cure. I one day had a dream about a bonfire near me . I walked in a forest. Eating berries. The closer I got to the fire a foreign language spoke. Sounded like a chant or prayer. I remember one word. Obara in aramaic was earth. I googled when I woke up aramaic prayers. Lords prayer in aramaic was in my dream. I think the lord spoke and the feeling I have that I cannot describe is "I miss you" I was a non believer but now I actually see things every day. The burning bush you seen comes from the Bible in the book of Exodus Chapter 3 when God was calling Moses to comeback from exile, to not be ashamed of his past and to tell him he wants to use him in a mighty way for his glory. Brothers I have an update. Aramaic has come easier than I thought. I have for the first time become artistic with paintings and now began to have dreams of Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. This is my language. We, the Assyrians of Iraq and middle east, still speak this language and it is the liturgical language of our Churches all over the world, even in India.
I saw a clip by a muslim saying Jesus called God 'Allah' as that is 'father' in Aramaic. I find it hard to believe. Is that right, since you speak the language.

The original God’s name in the Scriptures is “Yahweh” (יהוה) this name is translates as Adonai or Jehovah, because the jewish do not say or write the original name of God.
So, only those who know how to read in Hebrew can read the original name of God in the Scriptures, which is Yahweh. 🙏🤍

I am woman and moeslem from south east asia country. In year 1995, when I was in senior high school, I was fasting during Ramadhan and after suhoor I felt asleep. Then I woke up on bed in a tent in the middle of dessert and I heard lullaby sing by woman. I didnt understand the words and the language but I enjoy the song. I forced myself to wake up and my vision started to see the 2 views in the same time, the view of the tent and the view of my room in modern time. Then I woke up competely but still heard the song for 2 mins. Years after, I accidently watch the last 30 mins of film of Passion of Christ. I am so suprise when I hear the languange that Maria spoke to Isa's/Yesus's students. I started to browse and found out that Hebrew, Latin and Aramaic were the language used in that film. I swear to Allah, that was Aramaic that I have heard on that day in 1995, in far away country in southeast asia where no youtube at that time, lack of internet and far away from Irak, Iran etc and in moeslem majority country. I have written this story on my FB couple of years ago and other stories that some people call it 6th sense or indigo experiences. 🤔
