    Some scientists believe that radio carbon dating is flawed because it is only accurate within a limited number of years. For instance, they conducted some experiments with a fresh penguin carcass and a New Zealand volcano that erupted only half a century ago and they were dated as over a million years old

      They don't only use the actual finding itself for carbon dating. They use other organic matter around the finding like plants and seeds. This gives a better idea of how old the object actually is

    A friend and I were walking along a lake in my town. One of the people that lived on that lake had bought a huge amount of stones that he used to line his access to the lake. My friend looked down and saw something interesting. It was a rock, shaped like an ax. It had groves the looked like it was use to hold that rock to a handle. It was taken to a museum where they proved it was an old ax. That was back in the late 1960's and I think the ax is still at that museum.

      can't time travel bro. you can change your time relevant to another.
      think about it. earth doesn't even exist in the same location in space as it did when im writing this message so if you teleport back in time you would be floating in space. so our idea of time travel is jumping to a parallel world where time there would be in the past. well it would seem like it. we created it basically . to comprehend growth/death lots of other shit. but there isnt any time it's only now.

    • @Europa_Forever
      @Europa_Forever 7 років тому +2

      Vlex GG I agree with the parallel universe bit, but the whole floating in space bit... You're assuming space is like a 3d grid such that if a person were to go "back in time" they'd be in the same place on that grid. Well there is no grid because everything is moving. It's just that you can never tell how fast. Good points tho! :)

    • @PZ54395
      @PZ54395 7 років тому +3

      It is, the dating system is based on carbon 13. Which can degrade faster or slower depending on the environment its been in. Whats even more concerning is that scientists can manipulate the degradation to put what ever they find in what ever time period.

    The so called ancient park plug, was inspected in 2018. It turned out to be 1920's spark plug. The spark plug became encased in a concretion composed of iron derived from the rusting spark plug. Iron and steel artifacts rapidly form iron-oxide concretions as they rust in the ground.

    Sometimes a rock layer contains more than one radioactive isotope, and they both give completely different dates with a difference of hundreds of millions of years. Scientists took some sample of rock in one of the polynesian islands a few years back and predicted that it hadn't erupted in 500 million years. The locals said our traditions said it erupted only 1,500 years ago. Some excavation was done and there was pottery found which proved the rock was only a couple of thousand years old.

    Stars indicate: *Edited for the hard of thinking*
    I have a few theories *(otherwise known as random thoughts or ideas, not scientific theories you see, just the normal old fashioned version of the word theory)* on this...
    *Written in the form of a bullet point list, they're separate ideas people....separate ideas!*
    *What if:*
    1) Science is very wrong about how quickly rock can form.
    *But....but...science is NEVER wrong I hear you cry!*
    *or*
    2) Carbon dating is *more* highly inaccurate *than originally thought* (After all, by dating the radiocarbon's of the rock aren't you really just dating the stuff the rock is originally made up of, which could in fact be much, much older? Sand is made up of many older parts for example, so which bit are you actually dating?) *Please see comment in thread below for further expansion on this, my own ramblings and ideas*
    *or*
    3) We learn to time travel in the future. *(I mean....DUH!)*
    *or*
    4) Our whole history is a lie and we've actually been going from advanced to primitive to advanced again. The previous times forgotten and lost due to some disaster or other, so we end up thinking that this is the first time we've advanced each time it cycles around. (A-la battlestar Galactica)
    *it's a cool thought but do you really think I'm serious by this point....really?!*
    Whatever it turns out to be, *(probably none of the above)* oddities like these are fascinating.
    *Hope that the edits have helped clarify my post to those who are obviously becoming confused and getting all offended in the thread down below* ;)

      not realy, although it is true that there is a chance of Carbon dating being inaccurate I highly doubt it would be inaccurate enough to not being able to tell the difference between 200 thousand years and 500 million years. I mean, it is not a matter of a few hundred thousand...
      And even if carbon dating is wrong, I believe noone can actually say anythin about that hammer with wooden stick. It literally began to turn into coal. there is no wrong or right about it. it literally means that wood has existed for hundreds of millions of years.

      What are your qualifications to make such assumptions that any of these could be remotely true? Or that you can say the way true experts (those who have spent their wholes live studying and working in the field) date objects is wrong?
      And even if carbon dating is wrong sometimes, if it's continually used, chances are that the method is correct a large percentage of the time. But you still have to live with the grain of salt and question everything because if it's the best we have.... well it's the best we have.

    The screw is a "concretion". People make them for fun. They hang an object under a very sediment-heavy flow of water, and gradually that sediment encases the object. There's pictures of the process all over the internet. The belief that the object is older than it should be is based on the way they test it. They don't test the object within the case, just the age of sediment.

      But what bout the hammer? they did test that as well as its encasement, and it was dated as far older than seemed plausible as well.
      You say that these things are simply "concretions" and not fossils, but either way the so called science has gone wrong somewhere.
      If they are indeed fossils, then the dating method is either falsely dating them far older than they are, calling into question the dating method, or people existed at the same time as thought to be millions of years ago extinct creatures, calling into question the evolutionary timeline.
      If they are indeed "concretion" then the dating method is falsely dating them far older than they are, calling into question the dating method.
      And I don't even know what you were trying to say with the last few sentences, why WOULD they need to test the object within the case? Maybe I'm missing something here but I would have thought that if sediment has formed around and object, then that object is older than the sediment..

      +infinity730 Im trying to use a logical argurement. This is where I am going with this. Nothing is nothing. Law of identity. Know that I ponder it empty space is still a thing. My question is if Nothing truly is nothing then how did it become something? Law of Non contridiction. A thing cannot be and not be at the same time or in the same relation. That is what I am asking.

    • @lilacthorn4333
      @lilacthorn4333 7 років тому

      +infinity730 Right so how could have that caused existence. Like I said I am not refering to the cosmology I am refering to a logical fallacy that is found at the very beggining of the naturalists view. I went to public school and every year what we read in our "science" books was: Thers was nothing and then matter reacted causing an explosion. Where did the matter come from if there was nothing? And did that somehow cause time? How has no thing caused every thing?

    • @lilacthorn4333
      @lilacthorn4333 7 років тому +1

      +infinity730 I apologize I missed your Question. The one true God is way bigger then all other gods. God is spirit He is literally Love itself. God is an infinite being meaning He had no beggining He always was and always will be. He is perfect in every way. God is so amazing that He spoke everything into being.a Everything was in his mind, they were all concepts that he gave life to perfectly. He is able to interact with it because it is his, it obeys him, nothing can resist his will. This ia also why miracles happens. If he wants a mountain to crumble it will do so. No wonder men like to have puny gods this God is to be feared because He holds the universe in his hands.

      It would not be proof of anything accept an ancient microchip. Everything else would be speculation or opinion. As for evolution if it was so concrete as you suggest there would not be a missing link or the major anomalies that we had three major adaptations in the shorter time span than almost anything else on the fossil record has made one adaptation in. It looks like there was some genetic engineering going on. Especially when you consider some of the genes associated with conscious thought are crazy different than anything else we know of.

      Of course not all possible fossils. But actually we don't even have ONE fossil, of any species with a body plan that could have possibly been the ancestor for any primate-like animal. We have fossils of plants, of insects, of giant crawling bugs, but not a fossil of any animal with even an endoskeleton. The jump from an exoskeleton insect to human is too big. Like going to the Moon with a fart.
      The fact that the wood of the axe is "so old it's STARTING to turn into coal" should tell you all you need to know. It would've been entirely coal about 200 million years ago. Actually, based on the fact that it is encased in rock, it would not have turned into coal at all. It would've become petrified, which means all its organic/carbon constituents replaced with mineral ions. To form coal, there needs to be a huge amount of organics clumped together in the same place in order to isolate and slow down the influx of minerals and petrification. You will not find tiny chunks of coal encased in rock. You find coal in areas of massive organic deposits, like ancient swamps and seabeds. The outer layers of the coal deposits are fossilized, and as you move inwards towards the center of that deposit, the petrification process is less and less complete. If we were to leave the coal deposits alone for another 500 million years or 1 billion years, it would be thoroughly petrified and no longer coal.

A small little trick that might sound really weird, but could make a huge difference is egg cartons. They help to absorb the sounds instead of letting them bounce off like flat walls do, also it's a really cheap way to sound proof your walls :P - EDIT: Just realized this was from 2016 and you've more then likely already taken care of that, my apologies!

      God would let every single one of us know of his existence, After all he is all Powerful and all Mighty. Not just send his "son" (Jesus Christ) to earth when their isn't much Archaeology on him to prove he actually existed and he would'nt have left us with a Book that says the final "say" and then be changed soo many times. Not to mention that humans have been believing in different gods thousuand of years before The Christian God. Wake up, Humans made God up because they wanted another/deeper meaning to Life/Love. But from what I know, it wouldn't make much sense if the footprint was in limestone because limestone was once ancient seabed. Stalactites form 1 inch in 100 years, but somebody I knew had a stalactite form in something like a month in his basement. Probably a matter of different conditions taking different time. I also heard that a 1/15th scale model of the Grand canyon formed in I think weeks when Mt St Helens blew. I think there was something like mud that got eroded and then solidified into rock.
