I just went today to that same spot to take my son fishing for his first time and had no nibbles or catches at all, possibly cause while I was setting my poles up for my son the guys before me threw a bunch of rocks right before they finished fishing there and left while we were 20-30 feet away from them
Thats cold blooded.. it is possible they spooked the fish, but if you cast parallel to the rocks you should get bit. The waves from boats crash against the rocks regularly, so the rocks the kids threw might not be much of a spook? 🤷🏾♂️
@@Crappie_Day maybe, this was my second time fishing here so I’m not too familiar with the fishes patterns in the lake. I hooked a few last week around the same time we went today. But we’ll try again another day, my boy seems to be interested in fishing but it was a bad day today for him with the slippery algae so he wasn’t in the best mood after his soaked stumble🤣
@@Crappie_Day I’m hoping he gets more into it as he gets older, I will be definitely taking him to where I’d always go with my grandfather then eventually teach him how to fly fish once I learn how myself. Gotta keep traditions alive, my grandpa would always tell me how he’d fish back in Indonesia before he came to the states way back when he’d take the family fishing so I gotta keep traditions alive
@@Crappie_Day the summer skunk is real rn, got skunked 3 times straight already at fairmont when i usually catch 10+ fish that are decent size every time
I’ve been to fisher man’s retreat last weekend and I think you will have a better chance catching catfish. Those lakes are only about 5 feet, it’s really shallow.
I only know it’s 5 feet because I saw some dude float tube fishing and he told my brother and I that the lake seemed to be 5 feet deep, the middle lake the biggest lake.
Really they allow tube fishing?! I know it’s super shallow! I only went because they have a variety of panfish with a possible catfish lure bite. My buddy kevin catches them with lures.
Glad you got back on it!
Yeah absolutely 💯 thanks!
I remember fishing that spot when the fishing docks were still there. We used to catch a lot of bass off of them.
I can see that! The new marina holds alot of bass, but you can’t really fish there 😉
Most of my bass I catch at Fairmont is with the ika👍 I use watermelon red or green pumpkin
I’m gunna give it another try 😃
i caught a nice size cat at fishermens retreat about a month ago with a longer leader line
nice 😃🤙
