When she was 18 her record company wanted her to cover his song “how come you don’t call me anymore” and she had to ask his permission first. She went to his house and they had a conversation and he would only allow her to cover it under 2 conditions. She had to perform that night for guest he had over at paisley park and the second was she had to promise him that one day she would do everything in her power to own her masters. As of 2021 she owns her masters. Alicia may not be the best singer but at least she sings live without auto tune and she can play the piano. And every artist she comes across and meets, even those that come before her knows that she is talented. Apparently Prince and her remained friends until he died.
