    That is your best video yet showing how the flail chipper works! I enjoy all your videos especially the chip & chat ones where you can explain what you are looking for in the right wood for logs, fire wood and what you watch for when chipping to keep the machine from having problems. Keep them coming!

    Your on to it John, that's exactly why they have done it in already the newer flail models

    I do the same as you, sometimes it's better to talk an explain in detail what you are thinking, gets everyone on same page to give input. Keep up the great work 👍

    Hi:
    It good to see you trying to improve the chipper. You spent your time at the logging show well, plus you had a good time. I enjoyed seeing you have a good time with Logger Wade, Letsdig18 and others.
    I think you are very much on the right track to improve the trash away from the good wood. You have to watch spinning weight. The father out you get from the center, the faster the edge is moving and you are adding weight, which will add more wear on the shaft and bearings. Thank you for sharing and have a good discussion with the boss.

    That all made perfect sense to me would improve it heaps and extending the floor past the chain will put your waste and broken chain out of harms way.

    Yes John as you explained it your idea would work much much better than what is there now, I noticed in the vid that the bark on the underside was not being removed, your idea would also allow a smoother ejection of the scrap with no sharp angle to navigate to escape, if mike is smart as you say he should jump at a better faster production great idea John let’s hope he agrees with you, please keep us informed of the outcome thank you for the inside view

    Awesome video man! Really cool to see how it works, that is one impressive machine! How long do those chains normally last? I know it probably depends on what type or how much wood you run thru it. I’ve never seen a flail chipper before so thank you for sharing about it!

  • @davebrock6618

    Wow, always wondered what it looked like in there. What is that little chute below the truck loading chute blowing chips out on the ground?

  • @josephpollard6324
    @josephpollard6324 6 років тому +1

    You are correct about moving the belly pan back. The chain does not have time to regain momentum from cleaning the bark and handling the flow from the top drum.

    Sounds interesting had a half a link break off on mine , the first two times it took us hours to figure it out 😂. I'll keep an eye out for the changes you are thinking of

    It looks like you have a good point on changing the plate in which change the pitch and the length on the chains. Nothing wrong with brain storming and making better wood chips. Let us know what you decide or what the boss thinks. Thanks for the video be safe and keep rolling as you say!

    Did you not do this already on another chipper? If so, how does it work?

  • @VideosByAl

    Smart idea dropping the crumbs before it hits the 8 link.
    Then switching to 9 simplifys inventory.
    Plus not smackin the crumbs with the 9’s they’ll last longer.

    Now, this is a great video. Videoing with that side door open showed me something I'd been wanting to see since I started watching your channel. It just shows all of us how strong and dangerous the chipper is. Thanks. Can we see the knivess in action?

    John... you can jabber on the whole vid .... cuz I love it.... info to me is way more important than the actual entertainment part of the channel. Go ahead people and call me crazy but that`s who I am!!

  • @lewiemcneely9143

    I think your idea is a GOOD one. YOu could even take it back almost to the top wheel and the extra link below would take off a lot more, like the one on the other (newer) machine. And as far as weight, just balance it out with the chains being the same on opposite sides. Those bearings don't hold weight too much There, just the drum as long as grease is in them. I've seen those bearings handle a LOT more weight as far as pulling on conveyor belts where you might have several tons pulling in opposite directions from head to tail pulleys and they never whimper. Good storm, even if it did get fuzzy around the edges.
    Prayers, BLESSINGS and GOBBS of GOomerish YOungun Hugs!

    Always thinking...The door open was awesome but so sketchy at the same time!
    I never say anything negative because I so appreciate the great job you do with keeping us in videos! But...I just want to say. I am not a fan of background music when you are talking. I myself am just fine listening to you think out loud. Thanks 😀

    Looks like your bark elevator chain skipped a link. The bars aren't coming over the top at the same time. Maybe not an issue but never noticed it track that way in previous videos.

    • @lewiemcneely9143
      @lewiemcneely9143 6 років тому +1

      No. Just trying to make the older stuff work better. Taking the new improved ideas on the newer stuff and putting them to work on the old. An engineer don't know a single thing about how something REALLY acts. The guys in the woods see a lot more details than they do and act accordingly.
