- I have come a long way with the 1982 KZ550. This is a quick look at what wiring I needed to keep to start with the starter, run, charge battery, have brake lights and headlight. It is pretty close to bare minimum and I have even included a Minimum Wiring Diagram for the KZ550.
Fox body’s and kz550’s. I just dug my bike out to finish up 🤣 we got stuff in common

HI Boss, Just tidying up my US KZ550ltd. same as you I'm on a bobber type project. loving the simplified wiring but the links seem to have timed out to the diagram, can you help me out??
Hey, I have an 82 Kawasaki kz550c Ltd. I cannot get it to fire. Like no power to the solenoid. I’m kinda at a loss. I tried to run direct wires to from the battery to the push start then to the solenoid and only thing I get is my dash light go out when I push the start button.. any ideas of what I can do??
Will jumping the solenoid poles make it crank? If so then the starter is good. If you give direct power and ground to the solenoid trigger wires will it also crank? That will verify a good solenoid.
Sounds like the button is good if the lights dim. If the first two checks are good than it may just be a broken wire in The harness or a bad ground, both are an easy ish fix. Let me know what you find!
i have a 81 kz550 that id like to make like yours lol. its going to be a long way coming though. i currently have it stripped down to just the engine and the frame.
Do you have a better picture of your wire diagram?
Where does the ignition switch plug in I'm in the middle of this and need so much help

Here is a link to a diagram on my page I modified/used for the simplified wiring in this build. The switch should plug into the main harness but I can take a look to verify probably tomorrow

I have 3 different harnesses but they all don't have any labels and I have a lot of stuff plugged in but it's driving me crazy Im one of those people that has to see pictures of what goes to where and sadly I'm not good with following diagrams because of my color issues
