This is not the ordinary type of wildlife video that I usually post. Instead it is a run throu of my gear for concealment in the wild with the purpose of photographing wildlife and birds. It is not a review of a special brand or piece of equipment, just my stuff that I use from time to time.
This is my first video of this kind so if you like it or want to give me some feedback about what you would like to see, give me a call in the comments or on my social media.
I do mention some prices of the gear that I use but forgot to point out that they are bought many years ago and then often on sale. The prices are of course a bit higher these days, but I never meant it to be the current price, more as a reference between the different pieces.

Awesome video - nice to see your different camp gear! I love the camouflage net. It is so easy to carry along and does a good job!
Thanks Michael. I had one earlier that was much heavier, but I find this one does the job even better so why carry to much kilos in your backpack :-)

I have found the cam net very useful, I always carry clothes pegs, very handy to peg net between branches. Great video very Helpful and informative. Many Thanks for sharing.
Yes it is often very useful especially for its low weight and cost. Clothes pins will definitely work as well. I just find the reusable zip-ties a bit more versatile. I also use them for pulling small branches together and make a frame for the net. Nice of you to comment, I appreciate that 😊👍
Your last option is awesome! Made me laugh!
It is actually one that I use the most. Some call it cheating and "not real wildlife photography" but I don't know, I think it works really nice 😊
Thank you, interesting and helpful.
Thank you Ian, if you got any question or something you want to know more about just get in touch :-)
Lots of useful info in this video! I use a chairblind, but also considering of buying a camo telt.
I think the chairblind is a good combo, but for me it is a bit to restricting. If you buy a camo tent I think you will appreciate the space to. Thanks for your comment Paulius 👍
Nice video, Mik. I think the topic of blinds could go on for a long time. I have some, but I'm always looking for something else. I'm a little interested in that bag hide you show us just before your vehicle. Did I understand you to say that it's a sleeping bag? I would like to know where you found that. Thanks again for sharing this info.
Hi Tristam and thanks for your comment. I had a rain-poncho with camo-pattern but when I came across the Norwegian product called Jervenduk, I decided to switch since it was more versatile than an ordinary poncho. You can check out this link for more info www.jerven.no/jervenduk or just do a search on UA-cam for some reviews. (It is kind of pricey and I am not sponsored in anyway so that is why there were no links in the description.)
Nice overview 😀 I also have an old children's pop-up playtent that I modified as a hide - I really should dig that out and have a play with it...
I think you should, just find out a nice location and put out some food :-)
@@MikSwePhoto I think I might start with getting some close-up shots of garden birds and then think about somewhere more exciting to use it...
@@GeoffCooper Sounds like a plan to me :-) Gives you time to get the right setup inside as well. It took me a while to get the inside structured the way that fitted me and my equipment. What kind of chair, where to put my thermos, what if the ground is wet and so on. Lots of things that is suitable to figure out in the backyard.
Hej.
Hi! What is the name or brand of the smaller hide? I need one in this size.
Hi János. I am sorry to say that it is a very cheap children's play tent and I have not found any brand name on it and it is also discontinued in the store where I bought it several years ago. A quick search on amazon got me to this tent which looks as the one that I have, even though it seems a little bit bigger: www.amazon.com/BZ-TANG-Explorer-Outdoors-Persons-Camouflage/dp/B074VBXN2B/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=camouflage+tent&qid=1593329423&sr=8-4
@@MikSwePhoto Hi Mik. Thank you for your response. What I'm looking for is small tent for one person which is not as big and heavy as my existing ones, like the Ameristep doghouse. I hate to carry it. :-) Seems I would have to design or convert one for myself like you did.
I totally agree with you on the doghouse. I mean if you only have a small bag a gun and the hide one can probably carry it without to much problems. But with a heavy camerabag, tripod, and other stuff it is too bulky to carry. I didn't mention it in the video, and I didnt think of it then, but I have another cheap tent that is built like a dome but dont have the springs to keep it erected. Instead has normal tent poles. It takes a little longer to set up but it is easier to attach to your backpack. It looks a bit like this www.amazon.com/Maxam-Digital-2-Person-Tent-Camo/dp/B00ITF58XC/ref=sr_1_27?dchild=1&keywords=camo+tent&qid=1593590814&rnid=2941120011&s=outdoor-recreation&sr=1-27
Maybe not stones.
Haha yeah, maybe not stones 😁
