Don’t know if y’all remember the fight at all but breaking horns doesn’t weaken escaton judgment, it only prevents him from switching to ice. For escaton just beat the living crap out of his forearms until you get the elemental topple while he’s in fire mode (he’s glowing red) and you can only break horns while on dragon (he’s glowing purple)

@@drakexenom2033 no, but by the time you brake the horn you should’ve done enough damage to trigger the first escaton and survive if you got the elemental topple

Meh xD if you Farmed safi gear you just need to plunderblade him enough to get his lbg, do à fire/ice build where you dont need to toutch the horns and you unlocked the alatreon easy mode xD

@@hylius5780 Well first off, I farmed for full Frostfang armor and a hammer. Then I went and got the fully stocked mushroom skill on said armor as well as additional ice damage for Escaton Judgement, and I have carted so many times because of my lack of experience fighting him as well as terrible RNG in teammates
lol this was so painful to watch, gave me ptsd back to before I learned the fight mechanics.
some tips, if you actually want to hunt Alatreon consistently, as he went from my most frustrating to loved hunt :)
1 - tenderise a single foreleg for melee players and wing if anyone is ranged - only 1 limb though, as tenderising Alatreon applies to both sides of his body (yay?)
2 - max dps before he transitions to dragon mode, then tenderise head and break horn - no part damage applies to head outside of dragon mode - if you don't have an elemental topple, where handler pops up saying 'you're doing a good job containing alatreon's power and then he falls over, BEFORE escaton (the big super-attack) you will die - abandon quest and try again lol
3 - build-wise, goddamn run blight resist 3 or at least be 20+ resistant to dragon element, as dragonblight entirely negates your elemental damage and this is the ONLY elemental dps check in the entire game ahaha
misc tips - flash doesn't work when he's enraged, clutch claw to him for some flying attacks to avoid ground AOE, kulve's kjarr weapons can trivialise the dps check but tbh frostfang barioth is all you need if you actually follow the above tips (I did it solo, with a frostfang HUNTING HORN, so anyone can fkn do it lol)
this isn't a brute-force fight. it has very specific, very learnable mechanics, which, when followed, can be quite satisfying to pull off. hope that helps, if you read my novel, that is lol.
If you're doing it alone, you MAYBE could do it without elemental damage, if you're willing to accept you're gonna inevitable cart a time or two (or switch weapon if you mess up breaking the horns/doing enough damage, i guess?)
@@Jarubimba idk why you would? kinda misses the point of the fight entirely. lol is it really that hard to make an elemental weapon? also, the horns have a VERY small amount of part HP, so unless your aim is trash, then breaking them shouldn't really be an issue.
@@handyboots You'd be surprised to see the challenges or restrictions people put on themselves to create even harder challenges. Having a smaller time limit to kill Alatreon because of EJ sounds interesting, at least.
And changing the weapon is just in case. Why abandon the entire quest when you can just change the weapon element?
@@Jarubimba not surprised, but again, missing the point. my comment was for the author of the video, with suggestions based on them wanting to actually learn the fight mechanics and hunt him consistently. not using element fundamentally contradicts that ethos. there's also no need to change element if you... you guessed it... learn the fight mechanics properly lol

My favorite hunt in world by a mile, I think I have like 160 or something so far.
The #1 thing I can see in the SOS flares I join - people aren’t attacking / tenderizing the front legs. His front legs have the highest elemental multiplier. If you can focus his front legs as much as humanly possible you can get elemental check in 1-2 minutes every time. Don’t worry about hitting the head until he is in dragon phase, can’t break horn until then anyways (you can also ele check him more than once, makes the nova easier to heal through every time)
I'd say that's the #2 thing I see, after the people bringing their Lightbreak weapons 😆
2 minutes? i spend a entire cycle hitting his front legs and i have to pray to rngesus that it causes a elemental topple

@@handyboots it's mostly a gear issue but one attempt i'll get the elemental topple then the next attempt i'll be even more aggresive and i won't get it to happen again
one thing that helps much for getting 3 elemental caps is the skill crit element

Great vid! I've killed alatreon 10+ times on glaive, so watching zaid was really funny to me. Also, little thing, you can only break his head while he's in dragon mode, which is why it seemed to take a lot to break his horns.
It really takes like 2000 damage to break his horn in solo which is not a lot at all.
Last time I took down Alatreon was with it’s hunting horn, I had a fun experience.
I had the same problem after coming back to world after rise with alatreon, but did all of you forgot the dragon blight elemental part of him?

Alatreon is the funnest to hunt, easy concept too, just bring the opposite element and do damage. Make sure to stagger him and break his horn when he turns dragon. His pace of fighting is nicely balanced. Good fight in my opinion

Funny tips for alatreon xD make you guys all in safi gear, with alatreon lbg with a fire/ice damage maxed...the strategy is simple: AVOID the horns xD this way you weaken his judgement and when he switch element you just have to switch your ammo type. He should be dead before you need to restock. I know this works i did this solo and it was my easiest moment against him 😂

Pro tip: Don't abondon a quest but choose the return from quest option, you will keep the part break rewards.

I've only beaten Alatreon once ever so far. How many times have you beaten it?

Solo'd 4 times.
Why Alatreon hits the wall behind him only 40% of the time despite getting hit with the same 2 claggers every time is beyond me.
So many runs have been cursed by that bug.
I’ve beaten it solo probably eleven times. In my experience, I’ve found that knocking it out of the sky with the clutch claw shot is significantly easier and more advantageous than trying to knock it into a wall. If you wait for the double slam while he’s in the air or the aerial dragon explosion while it’s in dragon mode (while unenraged of course), grab onto the face during the roar afterwards and immediately shoot. It works about nine times out of ten, and gets Alatreon back on the ground for more damage sooner. You also don’t have to worry about knocking it out of para, sleep, or stun that way either. Speaking of which, those thorn pods it drops sometimes are insanely good at stunning him.
(Since you seemed to like this, and YT won’t let me edit this, I’ll leave a couple extra tips I forgot to mention) Firstly, I’d advise slotting in all three levels of blight resistance for the dragonblight immunity alone, but also for the lack of need to eat null berries, and in your case, so you can then swap out the cleanser booster with either the affinity booster or a mantle of choice. Secondly, although it is important to break the head, it’s actually not the weakest part elementally on Alatreon. His forearms actually take notably more damage, which should make hitting the elemental dips check easier. I’d advise to focus more on the arms until the check is hit, then focus the head especially while Alatreon is in dragon mode, since the horns can only be broken then. Thirdly, a great time to tenderize is when it performs the attack where it leaps into the air and spits down ice. If I recall correctly, even when on the head, you won’t be knocked off. Finally, if you choose to use the airshot method I mentioned previously, I’d wait to mount Alatreon until later into the fight, when its more enraged frequently, as a way to get it out of the air even when the clutch claw and flash pods won’t work one more time. I hope this helps if you choose to fight it again, and thank you for all the cool content you’ve made.

I’ve only ever seen people go at this with either longswords, lance, and dual blades never have I seen a group go at it with bows and hammers and a switch axe 😂

Gotta say, y'all weren't just reaady for Alatreon. The perfect way to kill Ala, is being Ala yourself (full escadora build) then use FF Barioth weapons if you havent got that soul reaper scythe of a Longsword, focus on the back legs, only aim for horns when elememts change and brace for Escaton using health boosters and astera jerky. Basically that's all there is to it. Easier said tha done however.
Use health boost thing that you place it on the ground, astera jerky and other stuff.
Use gillie matle in the beginning to free wall bang and give it haircut ASAP to nerf the Ult
you can also just rocksteady it and not have to do the whole fight with a useless mantle
As far as I know, breaking his head doesn't nerf his ult. That's only preventing his 3rd element (usually Ice but it depends on what quest you played).
What you should do to nerf his ult is to give him enough elemental damage until he toppled. You'll be able to survive his ult at 1st topple, and you'll be comfortable at 2nd topple.
How I play usually is:
Elemental Topple > Break horn > Elemental Topple > Ult > Break horn > Slay
Watching this video has been so painful and frustrating to sit through without autistically screaming, use ice weapons and use a nulberry for dragonblight or for hecks sake just gem in resistance Oh my gaaaaaawd! X3
why do i feel like fighting against alatreon is harder when coop than solo?
It depends. If everyone knows what they’re doing and have the proper build, co-op is very easy. Solo is easier to brute force, which is why it might feel easier. Even if you don’t pass the elemental DPS check one or two times, you’ll still live. Hell, you can just run a blast weapon and kill him like that 🤷♂️
@@ramborogueraiderI have soloed alatreon dozen of times, with LBG, db and Ls. I haven't tried with coop yet, but after looking this video. Nah, better solo. Bcs finding good teammates is based on luck
It’s because instead of 3 faints allocated to 1 person, now 4 has to share the same 3 faints. For well experienced 4-man teams, hunts will be fun. For hunts with 4 dumbasses it will be cartfest

I've only beaten velkhanna in world, but I can't bring myself to play world for more than like, half an hour, yet like any other MH game I can play for ages
