True it's such a shame mostly for an artist in the Philippines to use autotune when singing live, so what kz does is just part of her own style, she used autotune in the beginning to make it more sounds like very "KZ STYLE" which is something that hasn't been heard before.
Yes kz used reverb talkbox, Well... for normal veiwers we could say this was aututone for lack info terms. but there is no excuse for musician for knowing less
Taboo is an overstatement. Who in the hell even said that. Autotune is used in studio recordings and is a tool to make high notes tolerable becuase it might be too loud or too high pitched for the ear to tolerate.
Just so you know, the auto tune at the beginning was an artistic choice. KZ is not only a singer, she's an artist. Her rendition of rolling in the deep in this instance is almost theatrical. Here's my take on her performance which I believe has several creative layers: interpretation of the story in the song, melodic changes, vocal style, and stage presence. I want to share what I feel about how KZ interpreted the story. The creative decision to start with an acoustic guitar and then the utilization of the auto tune is pure genius. The guitar implies romance that rolled into some sort of a bubble as soon as KZ begin singing with the auto tune. The transition is confusing- acoustic to auto tune - exactly what KZ wants to evoke (what happened after she gave her all in love?). The robotic sound effected by the auto tune is a reference for manipulation as KZ (who feels treated like a robot) sings "you played it... you played..." while standing still in that dark stage, her facial expression is sad and defeated. She wanted to break away from this unfortunate state. When KZ belts out a sustained note with the auto tune, that signals breaking away from the dark - she pushed it away (see her hand gesture before the sustained belt). The camera moved and rolled (underline rolled). The stage is now filled with streaks of light. She's free! She's no longer sad. But she's angry because something beautiful is all put to waste. It takes a technical vocal skill to utilize an auto tune in a live performance especially when KZ is clear what feeling she wants to communicate with her audience. KZ "owned" this song right in the very beginning. The rap is just a bonus. My two cents.
I'm surprised that as musicians, you guys failed to detect when she took auto tune off. It was right after that first looong held note. Great review, nonetheless. We love our KZ!

Vocal coaches who’ve reacted to this performance recognised right at the start that the auto tune KZ used was only for artistic purposes. You could’ve tell that NO AUTO TUNE was administered all throughout the performance except the intro part. ✌🏻
Omg they didn’t even notice when the auto tune was exactly turned off. It was so obvious, she purposely added it at the beginning to make it sound unique, like a robotic effect. That made the whole performance sound so cool. This is by far the best cover. Not everyone can cover a song and make it their own song and then actually slay it.

Sry but that is not her natural voice with no effects in the beginning. She is using a fast retune effect and she is very clearly intending for it to be noticed by the audience. Its a choice but she is not doing the robotic fast pitch tuning effect naturally.
On one of her interviews I think she mentioned about using a reverb for the intro but that's about it. She was allowed to use it was not part of the scoring in the competition.
The auto-tune part is a way of showing her uniqueness. I love her rendition and personality very professional, try to react her song covers you may wonder why Philippines brought her there.😊
FYI, the stage that KZ is stepping in is the same stage that brought Dimash to the world in 2017. Anybody who sets his/her foot on that stage is expected to deliver something good. KZ did a great job, as a matter of fact she won this episode. And yes, KZ speaks good english because this language is a common thing in the Philippines. No offense intended but there are lots of talents out there who are much better than the americans.
Absolutely true. Hollywood have given respect to filipino-americans numerous of these artists notwithstanding that between 15-20 percent of US military servicemen are filipino-descent. They die for uncle sam since world war I, and all US global wars.
FYI, KZ Tandingan does ALL of the arrangements to songs that she covers. There is another song during this Singer 2018 show that you might want to check out. It's Sherryl Crow's REAL GONE ( soundtrack to CARS 2 ) that KZ arranged and performed. You'll "Rock" to it, I'm sure!
Yes the intro she used the reverb but as soon as she started the song, the reverb was off....this is a singing competition in China wherein Jessie J is also a participant. KZ made her arrangement of the song to be different from Adele. I hope you’ll make a cover of KZ’s version...thanks for liking her performance 👌🏻
I’m quite surprised to hear that auto-tune isn’t a thing in America. Heard it on with a lot of popular American artists. The auto-tune was also applied in the beginning of the song only. How could you not noticed it?Just saying...
Did you know that KZ can play all kinds of music instruments? She can sing and arrange all genres too, she can be a human instrument too, she can play saxophone by her mouth only, She's a bomb on stage, She's the best live performer on stage in the world right now,
this is a singing contest in China 2018 and KZ won the grand winner, with Jesse J as second placer... KZ sung all her song with soul if you listen to her singing a total performer in her own style.
You guys don’t even realize right away that the “autotune” in the beginning is KZ’s artistic choice? “Did she turn the autotune off?” Whatever, dude...
She is from the Philippines and she subsequently became the “queen of soul music” in Asia after this contest. She was also rapping in her native language, which is called TAGALOG. FYI, English is the country’s second language and they have the most call centers there from several American companies. The Philippines was occupied by the U.S. for over 50 years, as the outcome of The Treaty of Paris in 1891. There are also over 400,000 Americans living there, mostly retirees.
Shes a great singer without auto tunes definitely perfect with or without auto tunes..She sings the song better than the original version with her own version..😃
@@Speedstackingboy251 Why? Many great singers use it artistically, as she did, to set a mood. She only used it in the beginning and certainly didn't need it to function as an actual auto-tune.

I appreciate your comment on the auto tune part. It is not to belittle the song in any way just marketing thing I suppose. You play to your targer audience which in general is Americans who you said do not appropriate auto tune. I respect that. On the other hand, when KZ sung this version of song. She knows that her audience would appreciate it and take auto tune as a tool that it is. Would u mind to react to her cover song ROYAL at the same show.. Singer 2018.. She rapping in Tagalog Philippines language.. she rearranged the song to made it her own...
She made that own arrangement herself. And that came out one year before joining that competition in China where she one first place over Jessie J for that week.
She just uses the taboo auto tune to gain attention its just a hyped for intro and then after that its her real voice she is known for talented singer here in phil and also auto tune is quiet forbidden here we want to hear real talent amd raw voice rather than mainstream song hit on us with too much auto tune... I dont give a name but naturally theyre famous there😂
The auto tune was not used to enhance her voice. So, It was allowed as it was a way KZ wanted to catch the audience's attention with a dark and unusual opening. It also sets the tone of the song as a woman scorned, as she was "played" by her boyfriend. KZ is a creative arranger of her song covers.
The auto tune was only on the slow intro when the band came in its removed. From first verse. Oh BTW she's Filipina. PINAY SECOND LANGUAGE IS ENGLISH THATS WHY.. SHE SINGS AND SPEAKS GOOD ENGLISH
@@billthomas9263 well I believe auto tunes are good when you're trying to create a lil vibe on some part of the song making it artistic. But it will be different if its being used the entire song especially correcting pitch issues

It is. KZ said so herself, here's the video link: ua-cam.com/video/pOcJie8WA9E/v-deo.html but only in the beginning. She also explained how hard it is to sing LIVE with autotune.

The auto tune was used only in the beginning to kind of convey the emotiona and catch the attention of her audience. After that intro, the auto tune was turned off.
Its actually a live performance of a singing competition in china.. and the first part which was auto tune is purposely done to have an eyebrow raising effect to the judges.. hence it will show in the later part that the singer didnt need any of it.. and will slowly showcase her talent..
KZ is the only singer I know who could mix salsa, rap, rock, auto tunes in one song, only the first part is auto tune I think she wants the reverb so that the song will feel like a mystery on the first part then she will introduce mix types of music after that, she’s a very versatile singer.

I'd recommend Gary Valenciano's version of "SPAIN" on the Wish Bus. Peace!
I really dont know which part of the US dosnt like auto tune cuz well let's see. Britney spears, t pain etc. Used auto tune in almost all of there songs and had amazing careers. The last time I heard an american sing live in a big event was fergie singing the national anthem. Lol
😂
😂😂😂
If you guys want to cover KZ please do so... She's that good and won't disappoint.
Would u mind to react to her cover song ROYAL at the same show.. Singer 2018..
She rapping in Tagalog Philippines language.. she rearranged the song to made it her own...
Yes pls...
She did not use autotune. She used reverb to add effects to her voice as an artistic interpretation of the intro.
Yeah do a cover of that song I will love that...new subscriber here from Philippines...keep safe always guys and God Bless
lmao
She made that own arrangement herself. And that came out one year before joining that competition in China where she one first place over Jessie J for that week.
Autotune just used for effect in the beginning. She would be crucified back home if she actually used autotune to improve her singing.
she intended to have the autotune as part of the intro to give an out of this world vibe.
Don't even try to cover this song, you're just gonna butcher it.
hahahahahahahahhhah
Yeah do it! You'll slay this one.. we're here to support you and your cause too..
And i think Autotune started in america right?
I think you could do a good job on this one. By the way, auto tune was only in the beginning.
agree... just do a rap in English. Hers was in Tagalog (Filipino Language) which she composed. The whole arrangement was also done by her.
To be honest.
I want to give OneLife a challenge.
Watch: Spain - By Gary Valenciano
And see the challenge presented there.
@@abramrexjoaquin7513 perfect a challenge for them try span by gary valenciano. O want to see how they cover mr pure energy's song...
@@abramrexjoaquin7513 agree!!!
@@abramrexjoaquin7513
Impossible!
😁😁
The auto tune was only on the slow intro when the band came in its removed. From first verse. Oh BTW she's Filipina. PINAY SECOND LANGUAGE IS ENGLISH THATS WHY.. SHE SINGS AND SPEAKS GOOD ENGLISH
I guess auto tunes are common to some rappers in America.
Not just in a rap bruh almost every genre so I have no idea where the reactors get the notion that WE DON'T LIKE THAT IN AMERICA 🇺🇸.
@@billthomas9263 well I believe auto tunes are good when you're trying to create a lil vibe on some part of the song making it artistic. But it will be different if its being used the entire song especially correcting pitch issues
@@juzdion I agree. I just don't agree on the notion of the YT Reactors saying that "americans don't like autotune" Technically, when u use a plugin (not just the obvious typical robotic voice) is already considered autotune. Even the channel's covers when I checked it is autotuned. To sum it up, autotune is totally fine but we can't be hypocrite and deny its existence in the music industry.
@@billthomas9263 thought the same way😁😁
She is singing Filipino rap. Thanks you didn’t stop her song when you played it.
Lmao you think those were autotune?
It is. KZ said so herself, here's the video link: ua-cam.com/video/pOcJie8WA9E/v-deo.html but only in the beginning. She also explained how hard it is to sing LIVE with autotune.
@@urtootie6095 i know the autotune from the beginning, I'm talking about the rest of the singing.
@@mystery6411 hahaha, as long as we're in the clear. 😊
Thank you my Dear , for covering , What is making the Best singer of the World , is don't give a s**t about what is America think
The auto tune was for special effects. KZ doesn’t need auto tune.
KZ Tandingan is one of the most female singers here in Philippines thank you for watching! we are proud! Please watch and react also to Morissette Almon 🙏♥️🇵🇭
Royals..pls..frm miss kz
im from the Philippines where KZ came from. and we would love to here you sing that song.
"auto tune? People don't like that in America at all??" 😂 You don't know the Philippines in Singing you need to do your research boys.. do your assignment.. asking for cover some songs? 😂 Filipino did all covers 😂😂😂😂 it's 2020 you came late.
She is a Filipina. She was invited in that show in China.
This curly guy is judging too early. And by the way, who the hell is onelife hahahaha
And who the f are you?
I love Kz and we have the same dialect and we're both from Mindanao . So proud of her .👍👍👍
Naaa =sorry, you would need a female vocalist to truly show the anger she feels for her ex. BTW it wasn't autotune. rather an echo effect
And they call themselves musician for knowing less
Yes..pls do the cover pls you giys can rock as well as much as KZ coz shes one of the best singer we have in the Philippines and we're all proud of her..🤗🙌
i applaud your band for being advocates of mental health.
The auto tune was used only in the beginning to kind of convey the emotiona and catch the attention of her audience. After that intro, the auto tune was turned off.
THANK YOU ONELIFE...
Definitely waiting for you to cover that song!!!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘
#ONELIFE
Its actually a live performance of a singing competition in china.. and the first part which was auto tune is purposely done to have an eyebrow raising effect to the judges.. hence it will show in the later part that the singer didnt need any of it.. and will slowly showcase her talent..
And They have a lot of talent
KZ is the only singer I know who could mix salsa, rap, rock, auto tunes in one song, only the first part is auto tune I think she wants the reverb so that the song will feel like a mystery on the first part then she will introduce mix types of music after that, she’s a very versatile singer.
Philippines artists KZ tandingan.and me also I'm a singer also.thank you for your support this video and react.,.
