This has quickly become one of my all time favorite videos to make I never thought I would enjoy a musical this much but I actually love it so much the singing, art styles I've seen and just how the characters talk to each other is outstanding I adore it.

At the end of the Open Arms animatic, the glitching on Odysseus is meant to represent Athena and Odysseus’ conversation in Warrior of the Mind that happened all in that moment. In the next animatic by the same creator, that’s explained better
A few questions you want to answer are
1) The strong dude name is Eurylochus, and the man with glasses name is Polites
2) Those tiny creatures are lotus eaters, and they are harmless. But just don't eat their fruits.
They cause them to live in a perpetual state of bliss. Their lifestyle causes them to lose all sense of urgency.
3) Odyssey is yes, the king of Ithaca
4) Can't disappoint Goddess Athena.

Warrior of the mind takes us back to Odysseus's Childhood back when he first met Athena, It then skips past their training showing it's success in his being crowned as the Ruler of Ithaca. As you already noticed this song takes place after the song Open Arms, and Athena is basically scolding Odysseus for starting to allow compassion into their mind due to the influence of Polites, their Journey isn't over yet you still need to think and act as a warrior King, and that's why Oddyseus doesn't seem too thrilled to have interacted with Athena at the end of that animatic,

Funny you mention pillaging. One of the cut songs from the final musical that was released in the original demo was called Ismarus. It was about Odysseus' crew coming upon the port of Ismarus - enemy territory - and deciding how to proceed. Eurylochus advocates total pillaging, Polites advocates non-violence and just asking for their help. Odysseus decides to compromise and orders his soldiers to raid the port for supplies but forbids them from using lethal force. In the final musical, Ismarus is skipped over entirely and that debate was condensed down into just a couple of lines in the second half of Full Speed Ahead.
You switched animators somehow between open arms and warrior of the mind which added a little confusion. Basically Athena uses a time stop on Odysseus when he catches the apple in the animatic and Warrior of the Mind technically happens in a split second and Odysseus drops the apple. Most the time the animatics aren't connected like that you just got a little unlucky but it is going to happen again for the next set of songs and I would strongly recommend Mircsy's videos, the character design is fantastic.

So far the Winnions as a whole have been extremely welcoming and sweet. Which ia good because after we blew up the previous hosting websites for the premieres and broke UA-cam a few times it's good to know everyone is spreading the love kindly. 😅

@@Dawn_the_dragon 600 men. 600 men dropped into Crowdcast. Waiting on the Circe's saga. 1200 men. 1200 men then crashed the server. Scattered after to discord. Discord went down, the number doubled and crashed YT's livestream. Don't really know how we did that.

@@Dawn_the_dragon Apparently the original drop for the Troy saga and Cyclopes saga only had at most 700 people available for the release stream. Crowdcast can only host up to maybe 1000 people in a live stream. The Circe Saga had 1500 an hour before the premiere. Just in Crowdcast. There was also about that same number on the youtube side getting ready for the stream there. When Crowdcast well...crashed everyone went to the discord to see what happened annnddd...crashed the discord server twice.😅 Eventually Mr. Jalapeños and us Winnions got our shit together enough to do the release party on YT.

im sorry you missed out out some of the context, watching them out of order. lol For what its worth i did the exact same thing the first time. Im sure someone has already said it, but just in case, I'll say it anyhow.
So warrior of the mind is basically Athena reprimanding Odysseus for listening to Polites. She's been training him to be a warrior since he was young. To be quick and smart and ruthless, so when Polites suggests he he greet the world with open arms, and instead of just fighting and killing, take a moment to just assess the situation and start off on a trusting, welcoming foot, Athena steps in, quick to nip that in the bud.
the song is literally her saying "how dare you even think about doing this another way. You are a warrior, i have TRAINED you to be a warrior, and you're forgetting your place and what ive taught you. Dont disappoint me." and the flashing at the end of Open arms is just the artists way of showing Athena is pulling Odyesseus into her domain to scold him. The whole conversation she has with him is had in an instant. This is explained really well actually, if you watch Mircsy (pronounced Merchy) animatic of warrior of the mind, following open arms.
Warrior of the mind is actually one of my favorite songs story wise, because it really gives you perspective on Odysseus and his way of thinking. I mean its no wonder he drops the infant, considering hes been trained by a literal god whos idea of leniency is to reprimand him for so much as THINKING of approaching a situation with open arms instead of a warrior mindset.

the little guys are called winions! They are kinda like the mascot for the musical, and the fans call themselves winions as well. They are little troublemakers that show up a couple times in the musical playing different roles. As for the scene at the end of open arms its not the winions doing, its Athena pulling him into what jay calls Quick Thought, which is a way that the gods can communicate with an individual mind to mind. If you look at the same animaters version of warriors of the mind it is a bit clearer that thats what is happening lol
they arent. winions are Aeolus` minions (wind minions). These are just lotus eaters

@@gamersgamestorm8291 while I do love the underworld saga, the cyclops to me is better in a whole. The main reason is because musical preference, but also just how influential it is. We get introduced to alot of plot points in this saga, like Odysseus leaving Athena's influence and adopting polites mindset completely, eurylicus's and his men's doubt is undeniably planted here, and so much more, of course including being what sets Poseidon off. So personally I like it a lot, but the underworld is definitely the winner in emotional sense

And yes the the thing at the beginning! The epic community is so wonderful and welcoming! Its always awesome to hear people point that out. Btw, the little lotus creatures are called winyons and are basically the epic mascots! They are not in actual Greek mythology and are basically the face of the entire community (jay calls us winyons (I think?? Might be remembering wrong))
I will be waiting patiently for the next reaction, us epic fans are starving and need to be fed so we scour (I don't think that's spelled right) the internet for more content. There's a problem when your hyperfixation only gives you content every 1-2 months and leaves you with cliffhangers half the time.

I watched your first reaction but didn’t say anything but I love these reactions! Welcome to the family and I can’t wait for you to go through this journey!
So a few explanations!
1. The little creatures are called Lotus Eaters, or Winions!
2. Mircsy is pronounced like Merch-ee.
3. The end of Mircsy's Open Arms video had to do with how their Warrior of the Mind's video starts.
4. Athena has the power to pull him into a "mind-scape" of sorts that the writer has called Quick Thought. Warrior of the Mind is about Athena reminding Odysseus that she is his mentor and to not forget what she taught him.
5. And one of the most important things: EPIC IS NOT FINISHED YET. It is still in the works. Epic is broken up into 2 Acts, each Act having 20 songs. Act 1 has 5 Sagas and Act 2 has 4. The 5th saga, the act 1 closer, was just released about 3 weeks ago, now.

I first came across your channel when watching reactions to minecraft animatics from the life series, which is funny because that's also how I discovered Epic (I got recommended animatics of it by UA-cam while watching the life series animatics). About what you said about 4 men failing to kill a single boar being pathetic, I'm very sorry but depictions in movies and cartoons have given you a very distorted impression of just how fucking MASSIVE and dangerous wild boars are. Theres a reason hunting boars was considered a dangerous and praiseworthy accomplishment. Despite being herbivores, if you piss off a large wild boar, it will charge at you with the mass of an 18 wheeler and it. Will. Not. Stop. They had to invent special boar hunting spears with cross guards on them because if a boar charges you and impales itself on your regular spear, it may die, but the force of the charge is so great that you can be sure that itll take you down with it. The cross guards were to stop the dying boar from sliding the entire spear into itself and still being alive enough and pissed off enough to gore you with its tusks before it goes

I really love the epic musical theatrical epic feel. I hope there is a live show done and can't wait to watch more. I read the book in english class and was real good. Also, you said how would be weird feeling of hearing metal music with no majority growls, I reccomend reacting to BabyMetal for that shock, the fan base loves reactions and teaching about deep meaning lyrics and there epic amazing live shows. That is why I loved these songs since have similar feel to metal music like BabyMetal or musicals like Descendants. Descendants has amazing epic musicals as well. Keep up the very lovely reactions and learning of these amazing songs!

Welcome to the fandom! the winions are cute though, come'on!! and something wrong did happen with Athena, Odysseus started believing in the mentality of "open arms", and Athena didn't like that, she wants him to "turn off his heart because he is a warrior of the mind". so now we have these two points of view from polities and athena, and it's kind of what the story is about. when does a man become a monster?

Obe thing though. The boar thing makes sense. One it's a magic boar sent by a goddess. That's not going to be a normal animal to begin with.
Two, have you ever actually seen a wild boar? Those things have overrun parts of Texas and have brought absolute destruction so I've had to learn about them. Luckily from other people and not the hard way.
You need a heavy duty gun to take them down. It's over 100 lbs of animal, up to as many as 400lbs, with essentially two swords at the front, that can charge at you at 30 mph.
They shrug off damage from a lot of weapons. They will keep fighting when mortally wounded. And when i said swords on the front earlier I meant it. They can slash with their tusks which are razor sharp. They also will bite with an extremely powerful jaw strength. If you're lucky enough to avoid getting sliced or gored by the tusks.
Also I was serious about needing the right kind of gun. They can and will shrug off bullets from a handgun if they're shot in the wrong spot. It'll hurt them, but it won't stop them and they WILL be mad.
People are so detached from having to deal with them for the most part and so used to them being easy enemies in video games that they have no clue what boars are actually like.
They are pretty close to living nightmare beasts, and If you don't have firearms a single boar usually takes a whole hunting party to take down.
There's a reason multiple mythological figures prove their worth by hunting boars, and there's at least one mythological hero that was killed by one (Diarmuid from Irish mythology. He was a demigod.)
So yeah, a magic boar sent by Athena herself could definitely take down a lot more than 4 men who only have spears to deal with the thing.
I hope anyone reading has enjoyed learning about just how scary boars are. Stay safe and please don't visit areas where they're running rampant without preparation.
On the bright side if you do kill one and someone knows how to cook it right, they taste pretty good. And there's always a story behind the hunt because like I mentioned, nightmare beast.

13:26 Athena is the goddess of wisdom and one of the war gods in Greek myths. She mentored Odysseus from when he was small.
15:01 Rule two of Epic. Don't be optimistic, It will never go well for you. Open arms was a happy song and look what happened to the main singer. You should indeed be scared for not always but most of the time it's forshadowing. Any happy songs are just calms before the storm.
17:27 Odysseus is the king of Ithica during this.

For a reminder of greek mythology. Ares is apart of greek mythology as a representation of Romans. Its zeus, hera, athena, aphrodite, hades, posedon.
Odysseus is Athena’s champion
Ares existed long before Romans did. He wasn't invented to represent them.
