I really wish people would understand the purpose of safety guards on grinders. It's all fun and games until a grinding or cutoff wheel breaks and you get impaled by a shard. Common sense goes a long way, even if they are a hindrance. Safety first, not third.

Reforging leaf springs makes for a very good sword steel. Might need multiple to have enough material to work with, but might you be able to do a zweihander?
I don't understand what those ridges on the top of the knife do. Seems they would just get hung up on stuff. Simply decorative, maybe? That'd be for the best because I DO understand that a knife without a guard is just waiting to take off a finger. What is with the trend to make knives and swords without guards these days? It must be a decoration, because it's plain stupid for a functional knife.
@JK-vp2ux You are the ones from whom all sharp instruments should be withheld. You are in control of the knife, yet you speak of it as if it has a life and independent movement. I sharpen knives to a profile between 12 and 15 degrees. Does your mother still cut your food for you?

A sword cannot do much damage on the up-stroke. That is where the notches come into use. 🌹

板バネはなかなか頑丈で、限界を超えれば折れますが、特定の負荷までは耐えます。
