2yrs later. Im a HUGE FAN, having just discovered this (during a You Tube Rabbit Hole event.) HOWEVER!!! This is the FIRST video ive watched in the D.I.Y "Instructional Videos" that, is actually "D.I.Y!" and not "Buy, to DIY!" The fact u hand sawed, and hammered, etc....When MOST, use a big selection of expensive power tools.!! YOU are my new DIY GUY! (I cant over state how much i love what you have done. (However, im night shift, and i have to go to sleep, so i must end my praise here.) Thankyou.
Gud day thank you for sharing this video with me,it's very inspirational to me as I'm unemployed and learning to make some pallet products for a living,,,thank you once again
This was the project I had been looking for. I'm using it for a patio sofa, so rather than castors, I have put some old sofa legs on it, and I sliced up the wood from an old pine wardrobe I had in the garage, and clad the edges. I used some exterior grey paint that was left over from my shed and painted it over. I was very pleased with the result. Thank you very much for the inspiration to make this
Thank you for this video! I made my couch with your instructions and it turned out great! I added some furniture legs to make it little bit higher. Very simple and clear instructions to follow. I had virtually no experience with building stuff and I managed this. 😊
I love the simplicity! Some channels take them apart completely and that seems pointless and defeats the point, IMO. I've just bought 20 euro pallets for an outdoor cabana in my yurt camp in Mongolia. Now looking for ideas to make simple furniture for our family and guests.
Of the different ways to make a pallet sofa I decided to use this way and I’m so glad I did my pallet sofa has turned out looking awesome and made it fit perfectly in place, cheers!
Very Very Good How To Do Video!!!! That was the best how to do pallet furniture I have ever seen. Very clear detailed and still didn't take 30 mins to display your work and teach how to do it!!! Definitely trying this ....you get an A+ on this man
Great tutorial..... I presume if I didn't want to buy strips of timber to fill the gaps, I could cut strips from the throw away panels from the back rest?
Fantastic. I was able to build this in a couple of hours, despite my inexperience and using three different shaped pallets. Great video, simple and easy to follow. Thank you!
This is important! When purchasing pallets for your DIY sofa, make sure the pallets are HEAT TREATED and not CHEMICALLY TREATED. You don't want pallets in your home that are chemically treated with Methyl Bromide, at least I wouldn't. You can differentiate the two by the markings: HT = Heat treated / MB = Methyl Bromide treated.
Yes good point Prunk. That’s why I only use Euro pallets for my projects. Since 01/01/2010, all newly produced EPAL Euro pallets are heat treated in accordance with ISPM 15. EPAL Euro pallets treated according to ISPM 15 can be recognised by the branded markings on both central blocks on the long sides. It is prohibited to treat EPAL Euro pallets with methyl bromide (MB)
This is the best video I've seen .. weirdly I got everything right from the start...I moved into a bigger apartment and will be doing larger seats...wish me luck
Love this! to the point simple easy ( well you made it look easy) and it is exactly what I want for my new patio. I am totally trying this and accenting with striped cushions, Thanks!
If screwing thought the small lengths of timber cut the tip off the screw this will help prevent the timber splitting if you don't pre drill a hole..... Just the tip more so to make it blunt
I thought you are from Australia when I heard the accent, only after I noticed it says in the description, regards from a Bulgarian in Scotland. Very nice video, good job, very simple and effective! I want to try something similar, wanna keep me busy and actually creating something. if I make it like a nicer looking couch, can it be sold for a good profit, like a minimum wage job if done full time? Best regards, enjoy the holidays!!
Thank you for creating this user friendly video you have given me the confidence to start making my garden pallet sofa. What size nail plates did you use?
It's amazing! I have made several already. Do you have an idea how to make a corner for these couches? I can use half a pallet but then on one side, it is not so easy to make a back rest as well.
di questo video mi piace l'idea di come ha inserito lo schienale; tutto il resto poteva essere fatto meglio evitando le piastre e la colla fra i pallet. Comunque una buona idea
Hey - great video. I was thinking of doing this but making it a day bed rather than a sofa. Presumably I'd just need two extra pallets stacked on top of each other and attach them, using more nail plates, to extend the base of it?
You should be able to find pallets for free. Check warehouses, industrial areas or pet supply shops too. Garden supply shops get bulk mulch etc on pallets and are usually happy to give them away too.
Love the tutorial, thanku so much. Sorry to sound stupid but where's the nail plates? U used the adhesive to put the two pallets together, did I miss something 😅 Sorry just a lil confused, Cheers Kaz 😊
Great video have my pallets coming on friday. Should i sand and varnish all the wood or just the bits that show once done as im leaving them in the garden
Thanks, two questions, two pallets seems quite low, can you use 3?...also can you cut out the pieces of the seat before you glue it and nail plate it or after?
Great video! I'm doing a project at the moment with pallets and cinder blocks. Building a small decking area as well. I can appreciate the effort shown to make this bench be wise it's not easy taking them apart etc. The pallets I'm using, like yours, are very hardy and strong, as they're quite good quality, thus dismantling them is not as easy as it looks! Although you made it look rather easy lol! 😁 What saw are you using? I bought one which is applicable for the job but still, it's touch cutting through the thick timber! I use a screwdriver too but mine isn't as good as yours, because I broke mine in the process! I'll prob go looking for one like yours as it's much better! Thanks for posting. It's one of the better videos I've watched to verify I'm doing it right! Great little bench! Mine will have cinder blocks involved but I hope it turns out as good as yours with that professional rustic charm 👌
Hi, I got my pallets today. the size here in california i got are 32 inches by 38.5. Mine are a little smaller than yours but they will work just fine without cutting anything.. and following your steps. I am planning to use the IKEA kungso seat cushion. Do you mind sharing the size you bought for the sofa you made?
@@Mikey2hands thank you for your prompt answer...i bought all my tools and this Friday I am starting my project. I have never done anything like this before but your instruction seems very easy....i am just wondering about how things are going to turn out with the size of pallets I have....

Just made my pallet sofa following this, thanks so much for the video. Really clear instructions
Prefect 😏just made 2 benches in 15 min thanks man !
Clever!!!! I think my 11 year old son and I could do this for our fire pit seating 😍😍😍
I'm just wondering if you ended up making this for your firepit?
Bout to get him hurt🤦🏽

This is the best video I have seen. Where can I order this pallet from. I can’t find it and like the stamp marks in it.
You should be able to find pallets for free. Check warehouses, industrial areas or pet supply shops too. Garden supply shops get bulk mulch etc on pallets and are usually happy to give them away too.

Great Video. 👍Where do I get those pillows? 🤗
Ótimo ❤ amei
would this be more or less the same if I was to have 3 pallets on the base?
Great video have my pallets coming on friday. Should i sand and varnish all the wood or just the bits that show once done as im leaving them in the garden
If they will be exposed to the weather you would be best to seal the timber with varnish or decking oil first. Good luck.
What is the depth of the seat once done? Also the height of the back?
Thanks for the video. Just wanted to know where you got the sofa cushions from and what they're called?
Great video! I have a bit of a noob question - do I have to sand all surfaces if I want to stain/paint it?
It’s a good idea to sand the top surfaces to remove the splinters. Good luck!
Thanks, two questions, two pallets seems quite low, can you use 3?...also can you cut out the pieces of the seat before you glue it and nail plate it or after?

Pleas add table 😀
well done, what is the name of the pillow at ikea?
They were called Kungso but I’m not sure if IKEA still have them. They may have a different named cushion range now.
Americans looking for millimeters 😂😂😂

Mine were Kungso 60cm x 40cm cushions. I’m not sure if IKEA still sells Kungso but if not they are bound to have other ones that will fit nicely. 👍

My plans were using Euro sized pallets. Other types of pallets may not fit together the same way. But good luck with your project.
Can you make one into a corner sofa
👏👏👏
