This is the best unintentional explanation of something astrophotographers do for things like toning down the blown out core of a galaxy - but they just copy the same image and process the layers ... I always get muddled up when I do it - This is going to help a lot! Thanks
You used an alpha channel to erase to transparency each layer. Is there an advantage to using a layer mask instead ? My point of view is that erasing with an alpha channel is destructive, where you can always paint back when using a layer mask. Thanks :)
Hi :) , I do a lot of manual exposure blending in gimp for my 360 panoramas images (search for ag360). Masking is the only way to go because it is a non destructive procedure. Also there is a powerful script-fu "exposure-blendi" plugin.
When taking the three different exposures of a sunrise, the tripod (poor quality) moved slightly. The end result is an image that looks somewhat out of focus. How do I solve this layer alignment problem? It is not just a sideways problem e.g. the bottom right corner is ok but the top left is misaligned.
Good question. No, because I try to only do tutorials for free and open source software. For music software in the future, I hope to redo my tutorials for LMMS and also for DJing software, Mixxx.
