This also echoes the silence of European countries before World War II when Nazi propaganda by Joseph Goebbels attacked Jews which later led to the Holocaust. “What we learn from history is the only thing we do not learn from history” by Hegel.
@DNA-AI Why don’t you look up the academic backgrounds of everyone complaining about this Palestinian uprising. They literally created this mess, and they did it out of spitefulness towards people like you and me (assuming you are either Christian or a Conservative)
Harvards board has always been fine with things this way. Their selective apathy towards issues that dont align their beliefs has what has brought things to this present condition.
The double standard described here regarding DEI is abhorrent and disturbing. Prof. Dershowitz is absolutely right, and I hope these programs are dismantled, and Harvard seeks a new president immediately.

Double standard??? That is a gross misinterpretation. That brilliant educational leader that Alan D (Supported Epstein with the rape of children by supporting him as his counsel.) is demanding (ummm) she resign. This backlash from some GOP leaders and Jewish groups calling to ruin a career if you do not cater to every whim they have. I view this call for resignation blackmail and bullying unless Americans just go along with the Zionist narrative that to publicly voice support for everyday Palestinians equals Anti Semitic actions. Noooooo! If I had a choice and power today to remove my tax dollars from supporting the current Israel I would do so in a heartbeat.

Standards are most gonna be based on experiences of Whites, as many other races/ethnicities are of a lower socioeconomic status and thus have less of a say on many topics and lesser opportunities for a good education among many things. Voter suppression laws and extensive gerrymandering also limit their say as well. Effective and abundant representation and resources help provide social mobility for everyone, which is important for society to improve and prosper
@AtomicAnarchist I kind of agree with you. And I think in the UK they call such programs to help the disadvantaged "reverse discrimination". How do we a) extend opportunities, and b) maintain a meritocracy? I truly don't know

How about improving education throughout all systems and in every community. Creative minds with business acumen can figure that one out - if they choose to do it. Much of what you listed is for the most part past tense. Education is the answer, and I don't mean everyone has to go to college to succeed. Never liked DEI when I first heard about it, because I wasn't allowed to argue against it. Just WRONG from the start......I remember thinking this will never fly, precisely for this reason.

Not really...she is still working there...which is toxic. They need to clean house at these schools. 80% of faculty is liberal/extreme liberal....on purpose. This is a major problem that needs to be resolved immediatly. New hires needs to happen ASAP.
A correlation exists between countries around the world that let immigrants in and are now figuring out how to get rid of them. DEI is completly corrupt. Mr Dershowitz is a wonderful example of how far the left has moved from where it once was. I used to disagree with everything he would say and support and now he's a hero because he's held his position over time. Next thing you know, he's going to vote for a Republican!
Yes. I went to college in the early 80s and a lot of my Professors were leftover hippies that hid from the draft in college and just never left. They were a wacky bunch but they didn't hold a candle to the current crop of loons.
Wouldn’t you know. In one of his recent podcasts he announcement he would support Republican candidates against antisemitic Democrats in Congress. Clearly it’s never too late to learn.
It took you mean a crack in the 80 years of lies perpetrated by a bunch of Jewish atheists of Christian Zionist ideas, ideas which benefited the British Empire and American foreign policy until Likud made it so onerous as to be an international embarrassment. Jews deserve a hell of a lot better than Netanyahu. If he is going to represent all of them and proclaim that he knows more about the Holocaust than those who lived through it, he could do better than be a proponent of genocide.
Professor Dershowitz again offers his signature brand of clarity and reason -though instead of "death toll," I believe he means "death knell." [Was that glitch perhaps due to his strong orientation towards the written word and thus a sort of verbal typo?] In any case, great points, precisely thought out and articulated.

Wow,! 100% facts by Alan there and articulated in such a way that most who've been asleep at the wheel pushing DEI will find challenging to refute. Most jews I know were champions of social justice and have great empathy for oppressed people given their past and present. Then imagine jews wakeing up Oct 7th only to find out the people they were championing arent with them in fact celebrate their demise. Put yourself in those shoes and tell me you wouldn't be horrified and feel alone. I was red pilled on the dangers of DEI 6ish years ago after reading Thomas Sowells books and Douglas Murray "The Madness of Crowds" and others realizing how fake DEI's compassion is. Despite what you may think about Elon and whether or not he's sincere the other day he said "I care about the reality of goodness, not the perception of it. And what I see everywhere is people pretending to be good while doing evil". That is DEI to a T.
One of the issues is that 'faculty academics' often get lost (and stay lost) abiding by their 'selective use of language' ! For a higher learning institution they display an inability to think outside of the box !

Actions like those of MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard only strengthen these powers. Smart and intelligent people should understand it and their behavior should be wiser and more balanced, but there are no such people in these colleges. We are well aware that when a person needs to defend himself, he thinks, analyzes and acts based on the conclusions of his analysis. And when there is no need to think, we also see what stupid actions this leads to. Therefore, there is no need to oppress people, because they will always look for ways to strengthen their influence and get rid of this oppression

If I were congresswoman Stefanic, I would ask these presidents; especially the Harvard president, would the question be easier for you to answer if people were calling for the extermination of Black people?
Hear hear, my friend. My specialization in my undergraduate studies was intergroup relations from 2001-2006. In those days, my colleagues and alma mater had a sober, gainful notion on what needed to be done and how we needed to do it in order to improve intergroup relations. Over the past decade and especially the last six years, however, I have been fighting with proponents of the current DEI/woke/White Fragility ideologies in my workplace and personal life. These people have taken the project of improving intergroup relations and, as Alan says, unwittingly laid the groundwork for even worse relations between groups. Even lay people understand that while history is rife with bigotry and mistreatment that the answer GOING FORWARD is not to then allow further bigotry and mistreatment aimed at someone else, even if they or their predecessors were the proponents of said bigotry. What we need to do is provide equality of opportunity for everyone so that each person may rise and be judged based upon, as Martin Luther King Jr. stated, the content of one's character. I will close with two important points that underscore the importance of equality of opportunity that, if not addressed properly, will continue to perpetuate bigotry. Firstly, as long as people continue to have less opportunity and, as a result, turn to alternative means to survive (i.e., usually crime), then other groups of a society will view that group negatively, even hatefully. As such, all people REQUIRE access to the same level of opportunity in order to improve their situation; if you don't, then the rest of society will have a kind of, "We contribute to our society, but that group is just a drain and bringing us down." If people hold such a sentiment, then bigotry will continue. [I want to provide an interesting footnote here to point out that, in some cases, the majority can be the disadvantaged and a minority can be the advantaged, such as in Nazi Germany with the majority Christian Germans and minority Jews, or in modern day Malaysia in which the Chinese minority is more affluent than the Malay majority; or, for that matter, modern day North America, in which Japanese Americans and Canadians are the most affluent group in both countries. Regardless, the inequality can, and often will, breed bigotry; a number of factors determine the extent). Secondly, if a society knowingly provides aid based on characteristics such as skin color, you will continue to perpetuate bigotry. For example, in an American context, there are affluent blacks who do not need additional opportunities offered to them, and there are impoverished whites who DO need additional opportunities provided for them. If you offer aid/opportunities based on incorrect criteria, you will perpetuate bigotry.
Well said!! The other thing no one talks about is our basic nature. Most people need to be rewarded. In their philosophy, everyone (except whites) will be rewarded according to their race. Mediocrity willl prevail.I can't stop thinking of the movie "Idiocracy". That will be us. Start looking for your lounge chair with the toilet attached!!
@Nirvana7734 thanks. Firstly as someone who has no connections to the US I don’t know how this popped up on my feed. I didn’t know what DEI meant. Thanks for your long explanation because the other posts didn’t explain much. I have heard that many universities in the US have different standards for different ethnicities. A vague recollection that universities required higher SAT thresholds for Asians (East and South) and lower thresholds with Blacks, Hispanic and Native American ancestry. Hence when this video popped up I wondered why this policy is considered antisemitic. I agree that we need to provide equal opportunities where we can, for all people regardless of race, religion, gender, caste or colour. I assumed that the unequal SAT standards were one was universities sought to level the playing field. Is this correct? Do these unequal SAT scores help level the playing field? I also accept that having our children learn in an environment that is diverse gives them the exposure required to interact with varied people across the world. Not all people are born into the same culture and background and there is no wrong and right here. If we need to work towards peace we need to accept each other’s point of view without resorting to violence. Being exposed to Asians, Africans, South Americans, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, etc and hearing their stories should help build bridges.
@@navinadvMy pleasure. I'm glad that you found my comment to be insightful. The lowering of SAT standards for various groups falls under the "equity/equality of outcomes" side of proposed solutions, which is the "E" in the DEI acronym. The proposition is based on the idea that, for example in North America, blacks and indigenous people have been specifically subjugated in the past, so to make up for that, they need to be specifically privileged and elevated in order to bring them up to everyone else. As I mentioned in my previous comment, however, this is a problematic approach because your society can inadvertently provide additional opportunities to wealthy black or indigenous people while withholding them from disadvantaged whites or southeast Asians. A much better way of measuring who requires aid is simply assessing people on a case-by-case basis of household income, which is generally summarized by the category of social class. Equality of opportunity takes the form of ensuring that all people have the same level of opportunity to succeed based on their own merits. Rather than looking at ethnicity/skin color and attempting to address inequality based solely on that, it takes the form of, as one example, allocating resources to provide better education (such as by having more teachers to reduce the student:teacher ratio) for youths in poorer neighborhoods. Notice that this type of intervention can be done entirely independently of an overly simplistic category of ethnicity/skin color and is instead is based on need. Referring back to the equity/equality of outcome model, it would advocate that because black and indigenous people in North America have a lower socioeconomic status on average that we simply need to hire/admit/promote people of that background, regardless of competency, in order to equalize the gap. Research shows that, for example in a post-secondary education setting, if a student has been admitted to a program for which their SAT scores showed them to be at a low competency for, then that student is far more likely to fail out from or quit the program. If standards are lowered further to keep said student in their mismatched program, then you risk accrediting a potentially incompetent future member of the workforce. This has problematic downstream ramifications for a society. At the risk of straw-manning the DEI argument, I will go as far as to say that the DEI objective is not societal prosperity per se, but rather the equalization of all groups. I get the impression that numerous DEI advocates would be perfectly happy bringing the groups with the most power and wealth down, even to the detriment of society as a whole, if it means that all groups then have the same amount of power and wealth. The DEI advocates will not say that, of course, but when it comes to something like numbers of people in prison, I truly get the impression that DEI advocates would be perfectly happy to have a higher proportion of white people in prison if it means that the proportion of criminality between whites and blacks is the same instead of advocating that ALL crime should be reduced, even if the same disproportion remains between groups. Speaking to your last paragraph, I agree: being POSITIVELY exposed to different groups helps to train the human brain in a beneficial manner so as to reduce the problems of faulty heuristic reasoning (i.e., negative stereotyping/prejudice). If your only experience of someone who is different from you is negative/threatening, then your heuristic reasoning quickly generalizes (as an evolutionary mechanism to keep you safe) that ALL members of that group are threatening. As an aside, my partner grew up in Switzerland where she said that schools did a far better job there of integrating and familiarizing students with each other's religious, cultural, and ethnic heritages. Specifically, she said that they took more of a, "Let's take a week to appreciate [enter group here]'s history, and then next week we'll appreciate [enter group here]," and so on. In North America, it has become more fashionable to highlight historically subjugated groups and specifically ignore historically privileged groups. Again, this is a recipe for bigotry.
@@Nirvana7734 I am given to understand that having unequal SAT scores (as an example) is one way the US Education system has chosen to equalize OPPORTUNITY for the less privileged sections of society. Granted that you might have rich Blacks and poor Asians, but these educational institutions paint with broad brush strokes rather than deal with case-to-case scenarios, which might not be as transparent. I also accept that some disadvantaged kids who enter elite universities where professors expect a high level of high school education end up dropping out. However, the universities are not looking at the exceptions but an 80% or 90% solution. You bring up 2 rather interesting arguments. 1. The hire/admit/promote people regardless of competency. This can prove to be a serious challenge. For example, if you have an illness, do you want to have the best doctor treating you, or will you be content if the doctor treating you only got to complete medicine because they came from a disadvantaged section of society and were otherwise not as competent? Does anyone ask the University Presidents this question? I agree that maybe more focus should be given to primary education (high school) so that by the time the kids get to college, they can cope. I have a professor friend who used to teach at Cornell (in Ithaca, NY State). He is now retired (we are old) and told me that a few of the kids admitted due to DEI quotas had difficulty coping with the curriculum because his classes were too hard on them. He expected a high understanding of the subject, which these kids never got. I suggested that these kids be sent to a 2-year prep college where the gaps in their education could be filled. So, they would have conditional admissions based on their performance at the prep college. Would that work? 2. Equating the number of people in prison. If this is seriously how US lawmakers make the law, you guys are in trouble. I do see videos of people being able to openly and blatantly rob stores without any fear of repercussions or punishment. This is plain silly. Firstly, it sends the message that it is ok to steal. Secondly, the cost of goods increases as the stores need to pay higher insurance premiums and raise the prices to cover these losses. So, in the US, a (for argument's sake) black person is free to steal as there are already enough black people in prison, and they can't be arrested anymore, but an Asian or White cannot because they could be arrested since their "prison quota" is not full. If this is how the law is interpreted, it's plain nuts. Really? Even as I type this, I cannot believe this is true. Please tell me this is a misunderstanding. I would like to see systems where the disadvantaged sections are given the opportunity (not handouts but the opportunity) to raise their socio-economic status. It helps society in 2 ways: firstly, the lower and middle classes spend money on consumable goods, so it galvanizes the economy. The rich mostly save. Secondly, it reduces the level of disenfranchisement, so people are more likely to feel included in the growth of society. On an unrelated topic, the US scares me. I have never seen a gun that is not on a lawman (a policeman or army personnel). Where we live, even the police don't carry firearms. We don't see any army folk unless we are passing through security at an airport or if some politician has come to town. I've told my US-based friends that I am not entering the US unless there is some emergency because I don't want to find myself in the middle of some spaghetti western with Wyatt Earp and Bonne and Clyde. 🙂 I can understand somebody in the middle of Montana needs a firearm to protect themselves from bears, but why does anyone need a gun in New York City? There aren't any wolves or bears running around there. And if they talk about a militia. Fat good that AR15 will do when the government has access to your bank statements and F16s. That's the end of my silly, senile rant. P.S. And then you have an alphabet soup of "genders." Don't get me wrong, I know and appreciate gay people. I have close friends and relatives who are gay. But we have to stay reasonable. For the record, I am identifying as a Black Chinese girl today. Tomorrow, I might be a White Caucasian man. And the day after? Oh, I don't know; I change every 24 hours, and 48 hours is too far way to think. 🙂 And if the FBI and CIA are snooping. Jesus, guys, I am kidding. Go chase some real criminals instead of digging through the posts of a fat, senile old man.

Gay was somehow hired as a university president despite having published only 11 papers. Hilariously low standards. A White man can't even get a low ranking faculty position at a mediocre university with such a publication record. President Gay may face yet another problem: plagiarism of sections of her Ph.D. dissertation, which would violate Harvard’s own stated policies on academic integrity. Gay published her dissertation, “Taking Charge: Black Electoral Success and the Redefinition of American Policies,” in 1997, as part of her doctorate in political science from Harvard. The paper deals with white-black political representation and racial attitudes. As evaluated under the university’s plagiarism policy, the paper contains at least three problematic patterns of usage and citation.
DEI calls for hiring not on the basis or merit, but of gender identity.and race. This leads to hiring less qualified faculty, which can only downgrade the students' learning experience. This is not only affecting higher education, but also the arts. A noted New York dance company, which has always practiced racial equality in its hiring of dancers, has been told that they must hired on the basis of race rather than dancing ability, or they are at risk of losing funding.
Why does the whole world shamefully call the Jewish land “West Bank” instead of its real historical name “Judea” as described in Bulgakov’s novel “The Master and Margarita”? If Judea is the West Bank, then call Los Angeles the West Bank, Toronto the North Bank, and Sevastopol the South Bank. Obviously no one does this, except when it comes to Jewish land... And it's clear why. After all, if you call Judea Judea, then how can you justify the illegal occupation of Judea by Jews?

Equity is the opposite of Equality.
And if the FBI and CIA are snooping. Jesus, guys, I am kidding. Go chase some real criminals instead of digging through the posts of a fat, senile old man.
You can see the pendulum swinging
When you can't even say that calls for genocide against Jews are against school policy, you've lost the plot. I'm on the left side of the political spectrum but I have to admit, there are some serious skeletons in the closet over here concerning antisemitism. It needs to be rooted out.
Stand your grounds
saying Israel is abhorrent for what they are doing against Palestine is not the same as hate speech against Jews.
So, you support what Palestine did to Israel on 10-7?
❤❤❤❤❤
Criticism of a governement is not hate speech indeed . Naïve of course when dealing with issues such as the middle east conflict and génocide on all sides .
In American universities you only have hate speech as they are way too dumb to grasp the situation or way too full of hatred fed by them
This is a Far right power grab, using the principled complex stand for free speech as a sound byte in those pro-Palestine - sorry "anti-Semitism" hearings - to now push for anti-Free Speech far right university control.
One of the few times I agree with M. Dershowitz.
Don't like Alan D. & most of his politics. But I agree with him about this vile antisemitism! Fire Her Now !

Has Harvard produced anything significant in the last ten years? I don't think so.

@@IngaBallerina Who cares. Question was asked and answered.
There isn't a Nobel Prize for Economics. The Economics prize is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in HONOUR of Alfred Nobel. It's officially called the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. (Many people don't accept that economics IS a science in the true definition of science. I tend to agree with them .)

DEI in all universities is a front for Black Lives Manner.
Keep going you are almost there! BLM is a front for......... (hint: Friedrich Engels)

The cheek and shamelessness of the woman to not have packed her bags and left already. She needs to go!
Whoever (black president of Harvard University Ms. Gay) could get under the skin of Alan Dershowitz should be commended!
Dismantle DEI. We already have an inclusion program. It's called the U.S. Constitution.

After all, if you call Judea Judea, then how can you justify the illegal occupation of Judea by Jews?
great idea Alan
