I agree with Mike , I feel like his approach was not to bash but to get through her head that he was on her side BUT she could’ve handled the situations differently! That’s it , that’s all ! No malice was shown when he told her... just a simple man trying to give his friend leeway to help them understand something that they don’t necessarily agree with and that’s ok !
If he was a friend, he could've called her in private and have his conversation. He even apologized for not calling her before. So why do it now? And why do it on air?
I found both sides to have valid points. Mo'nique was clear that she isn't suffering financially as much as ppl think she may as her gifts make room for her period. & I do agree it is important for us to stop making money more powerful than our gifts!! Truth is our gifts are priceless & money is only a small gesture of gratitude. Steve on the other hand was like hey you can stand in your integrity without the comedic rhetoric because it doesn't necessary lends towards a resolve.
@@SisterNoor It appeared either of them didn't know how passion filled that conversation would become. It also appeared that they knew each other well enough to have this conversation regardless of the cameras. I saw a honest exchange of experiences & wisdom that is definitely worthy to boardcast!

Why?? Isn't it IMPORTANT that it WOULD be on tv?? Shouldn't we have those conversations more openly and not shut down or shoot down someone who simply tells it like it is? It's called healthy debate
Listen , I love the energy he brings cause Adrienne is always ready to be like "nah I'll never sell out for money" . But he brought up the fact that we shop at certain stores. That would have totally been overlooked otherwise.
It's easy for those who have money already, to say that. Besides, she may not think look at it this way but she did a whole lot of selling out to stay in the industry. Exhibit A.: Naturi.
Mike’s perspective is so true, we all sell out on integrity for money in some aspects of life. Especially with the clothes we wear coming from child labour and the places we work not having the best policies!
Standing alone is hard to do when you know in your heart your right but no one will stand with you. When everyone says let’s do what we have to do,look down, don’t fight back, just do what you have to do to get your check. I have been there and it almost broke me but I thank God I stood my ground and was victorious in the end. Now the same ones that criticize what I did want me to stand with them. MY OPINION......I'm glad this conversation took place on television. There are enough conversations being had at the kitchen table and those conversations doesn't innate change. Steve and Monique wasn't arguing, they were having a discussion which both of them made great points. I think it was a great representation on how you agree to disagree with someone. What's sad is honesty is so rare it got folks feeling uncomfortable.
Killer Mike is such a knowledgeable person!!! Sometimes you have to compromise to protect your family by all means!!! I love killer Mike's positive energy and wide judgements... 😘😍💯
Dang! Killer Mike really raised the bar on the show. He made the ladies look so superficial (which lately most of their commentary have been like that) and he brought some true REALNESS to the show 🙌🏼
The ladies need to research the topics before they present them. If you talk about fashion from an historic or Sociological standpoint and/or from an anthropology perspective you could definitely enrich the substance of the show
Mike is wisdom.I think Monique wants to blame things on everyone but herself. You do a movie, you have to promote it so people come see it and money comes rolling in. She wants to be difficult, then prepare for difficult times. You have no one to blame but *YOU!
Thank you! It may not have been in the contract, but it goes without saying that you are expected to promote a movie. That's how the game is played in hollyweird. She didn't play the game and got blackballed.
They only paid her 50,000 dollars for that movie. That is at most 6 months of bills for someone like her. So the money comes in for the movie? She is not going to get paid more. Black people are susposed yo do right by black people. Monique put her pain into that role. Award winning. And they thought it was only worth 50k? No. That was wrong.
I feel as though Monique meant everything she said when she was on stage doing “comedy” as far as Tyler and Oprah. There is no way to go back and clean that up. Had it not been for that, I feel as though things would have worked out better for her in the end. I feel like this residency thing is a way to shut her up so that she doesn’t cause a black empowerment movement and make us start asking questions and demanding answers. As far as Steve, he is on his way out, it was good while it lasted.
Her views are valid but we may have to accept that the messenger of the message don't always deliver it with a bow on top. I believe in manners and respect but just might have to agree that sometimes comedy is a bloody sport and the Oprahs and Tylers of the world are not above criticism IF and only IF they tried to stiff her coins. I disagree totally, Steve was properly talking and explaining her how it should be acted like a normal human being, Monique is always under impressions to fight, and being aggressive, and most importantly never listening, actually very similar to Tamar. Did not like Loni’s approach this time, Monique needed to be schooled because there is a reason for that
Steve Harvey is right. He's not a sell out. There's a way to speak your truth with shitting on others. I think that's what he means. Monique does have every right to speak her truth, though. That's her right. Just because you have an opinion does mean you should vocalize it. That's where Steve went wrong.
Couldn't disagree with this man more. This is NOT a conversation for black people to have in their living rooms but a conversation that should be publicized around the world. Mo'Nique made several points whether you like her delivery or not. Steve practically told this woman to stop caring for her people if it means saving yourself. Mo'Nique has said several times that she's doing this for all the little black girls and generations that's coming after her. How is right that she's black balled for something she wasn't contractually obligated to do while Tyler Perry, Lee Daniels and Oprah go on living their lives normally? Also getting a lower pay compared to Amy Schumer? Her resume is excellent! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!
KPJAW I feel for Monique. I understand her struggle. But regarding Netflix and Amy’s pay, she had an audience that was supporting her, showing up in big numbers and filling the seats in arenas. (Even though people think she isn’t that funny, enough do to fill up arenas.) At that time, Monique was not filling up arenas. So, unfortunately, even with Monique’s accolades, the bottom line is money to corporations. Now, if people were going to see Monique in those numbers, her offer would have been different because other African American comics (Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock,) with big audiences who come out and support them do get larger offers. Now, some instances in business are influenced by racism. But, if Monique can pull the kind of numbers in Arenas that other comics do, she deserves the same pay as the other comics. Now, her fight regarding working for free is an entirely different conversation. There is an assumption of free promotion in the movie industry. And, she was in the right to make the decision to not go. She chose to prioritize what was important to her. But, all choices have consequences. And in all businesses, if you don’t go along with the cultural norms of action and process, you will pay a price. And, I honestly believe that Monique was willing to pay the price for her decision, but didn’t realize the price would be so high. Nonetheless, she is living by her convictions. And not all people are called to the same things in life. Steve Harvey wanted to become wealthy so that he could change his family lineage for his children and be able to help people financially. He had a different path and followed his convictions. He believed that he could help more if he weren’t poor and had the means to pull others up. There is more than one way to help others. As long as you are following your calling, go with it. But, know there will be consequences no matter which direction you choose. Just be good with you and your calling in life.
I understand when mike said it should’ve been handled off tv or camera, but yall Oprah started that bs when she thought it was okay to put Moniques family on her show, so of course mo is gonna stand her ground. I dislike how people overly respect or make Oprah feel entitled only bc of her status thats no excuse. Oprah always talking about she doesnt stand black women attacking black women but sis you did that exactly!
Steve needs to be worried about his show NOT GETTING CANCELLED!! I heard that Steve’s show was getting cancelled and replaced with Kelly Clarkson. Steve’s show was doing good in Chicago BUT I heard that he left Chicago and went to Los Angeles because he was getting threats after meeting with Trump. His show was going good in Chicago but is now tanking in LA. Black people need to OWN companies and businesses in order to have a say in what goes on. Monique has been in the game too long and has a net worth of $13 million. Celebrities like her and Steve will continue to have to walk on egg shells and play politics in Hollywood to get crumbs. Monique should’ve been INVESTING her money while she was on the show The Parker’s and making other films.
"Black people need to OWN companies and businesses in order to have a say in what goes on." This.Is.It.🙌🏻🙌🏻 All these talks and movements hold no value in this time and age when you don't have any leverage. The lgb+ community lobbied for themselved got what they wanted and then started becoming overly vocal and pushy. The Asian American community as well. Built among themselves and keep their issues among themselves and only now the younger generations want to speak up for equality like African Americans and only now a few Asians want to join Black Americans plight. But they all got their under the counter money. I feel like the Black Community got stuck in the Civil Rights Movement wave. Stuck on a couple of successes and has been left at the table with only the 'race card'. The talk and conversation shouldn't be about 'America accept us' anymore but for those who do care to built in silence and in peace🙏🏻
I don’t understand how people don’t realize that he wasn’t bashing her . After all these years she hasn’t worked because she was blacklisted for not working for free aka being a slave. All he had to say was I know you were telling the truth. But he didn’t want to expose anyone because of his show and 💰
Steve voiced what he felt. Nothing less or nothing more. Just like Mo'nique voiced how she has felt. If people feel like Steve should have taken her and had a conversation with her privately then why couldn't she have done the same with others instead of telling them to "suck her non existent parts"?
I’m so sick and tired of hearing about Monique and all the drama she’s constantly in. Ugh 😑 maybe that’s why she’s being blackballed or whatever they talkin about, because drama seems to follow her a lot an no one probably wants to work with her because of that 🤔 I’m just over her. When will we hear about Monique actually getting along with people?? I’ll wait 🤷🏽♀️
Oum THMD I think we will have to agree to disagree. Research all the drama she’s been in. It’s a pattern for her. I even seen her on the real recently and she was tying to stir up some mess there and then she’s sitting on their show telling them that all talk shows right now are too fluffy basically meaning fake and they all corrected her and told her “well you haven’t seen our show then” I just think she’s a different difficult women that can have a mean streak as well.
This man speaks the truth. It’s not something we particularly like or agree with but it’s the reality. Sometimes we negotiate our integrity for income and keep food in the table. It’s not to be proud of, but sometimes it’s a necessity
In my opinion Monique doesn't have the best way to handle things. She was not wrong but like killer Mike said it's about compromise . I think what Steve was trying to say is that sometimes you have to compromise in order to be in a position of power in the long run especially as a black person . I'm sure Beyonce Tyler Perry P. Diddy or even Oprah had to do some things that they didn't approve. But now they are poweful enough and they can help and impact their own communities. After all of those years does Monique really have a position of power whee she can help hire us?she is talented and I'm glad she has her own residency but she could have done even more if she played "the game" without necessarily loosing her integrety or soul imo. 🤷♀️
Killer Mike just elevated this conversation! The girls are always so surface. I actually learned something in the course of him speaking. Please bring him back!
the thing is, steve meant what he said, but he aint got his studio audience backing him up in the real world. a lot of our "black legnds" have become complacent and its honestly sad, however, it was a nice eye opener.
Harvey is really stupid because he shifted the conversation into a contradicting one - the whole point of what Monique was doing was not having the "poor" mind state of taking crumbs when she knows how much more she is worth
Why he can't be real on his show...he later apologized in regards he shouldn't have said what he said that way. His dictation is just who he is country and he will tell you that..I also think MoNique should not have gone behind Steve's back and talked not so nicely. Where's the love my sister.
3:05 No he did not say he and Steve Harvey share the same accountant AND shout out the name of the accountant AND say he doesn't have Steve's money--is their account sharing client information??
Valid points by both and the conversation needed to happen just not on TV with emotions heating up the way they did. On the other hand, I wish they both could have assembled before the show and discussed two or three topics that they wanted to present to the public in a very organized manner. I feel that when our intentions are to help others in the industry or otherwise, we could achieve more without tempers flying and fingers pointing and emotions running out of control. Have an intentional agenda that serves to help people, organize and structure the narrative and conversation, and then execute, execute, execute. Also, ensure that your summary is actually what you meant to say, rather than what you actually said if there were negative overtones! By the way, I am: #TeamDoingTheRightThing In the industry that they are in, there's got to be a whole lot of strategic thinking and executing. Side note: don't forget Jesus! With that being said, Monique didn't use enough to benefit her that would have advantageously affect her career in Hollywood. Steve, on the otherhand, could have phrased/not stated a few of his points on TV. Since they are friends, a personal conversatio needed to take place before the televised segment. God bless all.
No, I think her pockets were more important than a friendship in this case. Also, being true to yourself instead of being true all the way around is not integrity. Loyalty to whom and what cause?
The Real. We are glad you cover these things for black history month. Also if the truth be told even more Steve Harvey's wealth never elevated black people as a whole. The fact that 90% of the wealth in America is in white capital just shows that Monique is right. Steve Harvey is focusing on his coins and Monique is talking about the need for equality in wages for DOS (descendants of slaves).
I disagree with Mike on this one.. but thank you Loni for speaking up on Monique’s behalf. Mike is incorrect on this one. You act out in public (black balling her) I express my dismay in public. It needed to be seen... it’s okay to agree to disagree.
I disagree with mike. It needs to be out in the open so we can have the discussion with them. They were raw, and it was real. Agree or disagee i appreciate that.
And I for one AM glad it happened on television and not in the home. It was raw and honest. And I love the way Steve handled it. He did it like an older brother and he did it with love. The truth hurts is all.
Killer Mike always a pleasure to get insight and guidance from . . to neutralize & curb the black negative narrative. . . From “the whole world. . . “ w OutKast to community activist . . . Salute to Killer Mike. . .👊🏾Keep reppin’ my brother!!!🙏🏿 Excellence!!!💯
I think Steve misspoke. I think he meant pride as opposed to integrity. They were both talking at each other. And I agree with Steve. Monique went about the whole situation wrong way
Monique is fake. She tries to act all somber in person n then behind people's back she's inappropriate. I get Steve's explaination. We are always criticized for everything we do so we have to show those racists that we can live past their stereotypes of us but what she did was just make the white man's point about black women. She needs to get her attitude together. There's a way to do everything but see how Steve apologized but she hasn't because she doesn't think her approach was and is wrong. Sorry but she doesn't represent me as a black woman
It's a great lesson to see this discussion. Not all black ppl think the same, and that is healthy and fine. No need to hide it away from TV. These conversations push us to think what we would do and grow in our personal convictions. I don't like what Steve said but I don't like him less for it, since he was honest.
Steve did exactly what Monique herself does and that's say what you feel, screw the consequences. While I 1000% agree with what Steve said but he should learn to mind his own business next time. Let Monique swim in her own mess.
So, I would like to ask the producers of The Real: What will it take to have Killer Mike on at least twice a week? I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds him inspiring, intelligent, factual, very articulate and one who doesn't beat around the bush when speaking the truth
Steve needs to prioritize his outrage. He is a black man before he is anything else. He all but said that green comes before black. I think that’s where the outrage comes from. Make no mistake, we CANNOT move out here just any kind of way as people of color, and while I agree with most of what he said, I also think there is a very fine line. “Uncle Steve” gotta remember just one wrong move and these people he’s tap dancing for will flip on him.
Steve should have never had her own the show. However I agree the conversation should never been had on TV. Just like Mo should have never said what she said about Oprah , Tyler in the media. No thinks she's help us but really setting us back.
It's funny that they're saying he was talking at her. This is exactly what Mo'nique does to others. She talks at them. She talked at Charlamangne. She talked at the lady with whom I can't remember. She talked at Tyler Perry and over talked him, so when Steve does it to her it's a problem?
People always have a flexible morality. You can't say you want women's rights but go to gentlemen's clubs because they're owned by men and many that're abusive and chauvinistic. You can't say you're for fairness but you watch ESPN.
I liked his opening till the end yess we have morals but we still buy cheaper stuff or clothing KNOWING Darn well its child labor behind it am guilty as well 😔
If a job is all that's standing between you and being homeless you will do anything to keep that job. Anyone would. Especially if they have a family they are supporting. Yes sometimes it's best to stand for your integrity but is that what is best for your family too? Those are the questions that every responsible adult considers. In some situations yes and sometimes no. It's not a black or white situation its all grey. So I do understand when people give in to the money
Mo’Nique doesn’t listen. She still didn’t understand where she was wrong. But, she’s complaining about not feeding her family. Steve is not a sellout and that didn’t come across as such to me. His points were extremely valid and I knew exactly what he was saying...He wasn’t talking AT her...she was talking about punching him and craziness. He brought up the kids thing because SHE said it was effecting her family. People need to RE watch and listen.
I think Steve meant what he said, he just didn’t mean to say it on camera.

"Black people need to OWN companies and businesses in order to have a say in what goes on." This.Is.It.🙌🏻🙌🏻
All these talks and movements hold no value in this time and age when you don't have any leverage.
$13m ain't nuthin to sneeze at tho 😁
You right about Monique needing to invest but you not going to come at Steve like that. He spoke facts
Steve was 100% honest , this is exactly how we all talk with a sister or brother behind closed doors
Mike, I like your point of view. I like both Mo & Steve, and I wish them the best.
Exactly right they should have that conversation private. I love them both I don’t want the media to put them in a negative eye
She gets along with many more folks than otherwise. She just doesn't let the big players walk all over her because of who they are. And she shouldn't.
Then why watch the clip? It's labeled "Monique".
To see if I’m right about her about her always having some drama going on, and yep I was right! More drama they confirmed it.
@@janepatton8100 exactly lol
Yvette & Killer Mike have been my favorite guest hosts ever! 👏🏽👏🏽 Btw, I completely agree with Mike. Leave that convo at home in private.
I love Mike's perspective...please bring him more on the show..i think he's doing a great job
2:44 "my people" lmaooooo jeannie
This man speaks the truth. It’s not something we particularly like or agree with but it’s the reality. Sometimes we negotiate our integrity for income and keep food in the table. It’s not to be proud of, but sometimes it’s a necessity
People need to stop using the word... I love so and so... That's not love..
I love me some Killer Mike. When that man speaks i listen!!!
As Mike talks, he gets more attractive. There’s nothing better than an intelligent man that drops truth bombs in an eloquent manner.
the thing is, steve meant what he said, but he aint got his studio audience backing him up in the real world. a lot of our "black legnds" have become complacent and its honestly sad, however, it was a nice eye opener.
Harvey is really stupid because he shifted the conversation into a contradicting one - the whole point of what Monique was doing was not having the "poor" mind state of taking crumbs when she knows how much more she is worth
KILLER MIKE!!!! So glad you guys put him on the panel, he is a truly intelligent human being!
By the way, I am: #TeamDoingTheRightThing
In the industry that they are in, there's got to be a whole lot of strategic thinking and executing.
I am all with supporting each other !! But can we support someone who actually care about somebody other than HERSELF !!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
Steve was OUT OF LINE, his pockets are more important then A FRIENDSHIP!!... Mo needs to remain true to HERSELF! Loyalty over EVERYTHING!
No, I think her pockets were more important than a friendship in this case. Also, being true to yourself instead of being true all the way around is not integrity. Loyalty to whom and what cause?
Loni is basically the same as Steve, it's ironic that she's on 'the Real' when she's scared of being real cos she wants to protect her coin.
Killa Mike need his own talk show with men, like a view with Black men
I agree that should of been a living room conversation
I disagree with mike. It needs to be out in the open so we can have the discussion with them. They were raw, and it was real. Agree or disagee i appreciate that.
Shhhhuuuuuttttt Upppp Lonnnnniiiiii🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I like how Mike came down to our level, Walmart shoppers, we sacrifice everything to save a few bucks.
And I for one AM glad it happened on television and not in the home. It was raw and honest. And I love the way Steve handled it. He did it like an older brother and he did it with love. The truth hurts is all.
Steve didn't have to be disrespectful on National TV 🤷🏽♂️
Love Mike's analogy.
Steve is definitely a sellout. Nobody forgot what he did to Bernie Mac
Sorry, what's wrong with Walmart? They hire more poor people that Nike ever would.... just sayin
So she spoke to Steve Harvey who told her that she was wrong then spoke to Adrienne who also told her that she was wrong, all in the same day 😂
I think Steve misspoke. I think he meant pride as opposed to integrity.
They were both talking at each other. And I agree with Steve. Monique went about the whole situation wrong way
Im just discovering Killer Mike. I want to see more of him. I like his style.
I like him on here ..he would actually make a great co host!
its so refreshing to hear an intelligent person on this show and not just politically correct, banalities.
Steve made a mistake by letting Mo' come on his show to drag him down. She's so bitter
I wish mike was part of the real, he adds good points!!
I agree with Steve and Killer Mike. Steve was just saying that you are right, but change HOW you're doing it
She wasn't right though.
@@JRS-j9m Ok🤷🏾♀️
I completely agree with Killer Mike! He nailed it onthe head. 👌🏿🙌🏿✊🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤
Steve did exactly what Monique herself does and that's say what you feel, screw the consequences. While I 1000% agree with what Steve said but he should learn to mind his own business next time. Let Monique swim in her own mess.
Love this guy! He is the true definition of pro-black ✊🏾 Tell your beautiful black wife I said hello 👋🏾
🗣MORE KILLER MIKE PLEASE ❤️
I like this man! Have him on show more often!
I really like Mike’s take on this episode. He gave a lot of good points
Steve should have never had her own the show. However I agree the conversation should never been had on TV. Just like Mo should have never said what she said about Oprah , Tyler in the media. No thinks she's help us but really setting us back.
Killer Mike preachin today boy!
Agreed Killer Mike. I felt the conversation was more of a “Come to Jesus@ dialogue, befitting of privacy; not national television.
This was the definition of DAMAGE CONTROL. It’s obvious why the guest is there.... Damage control.
I agreed with everything Steve said. There is a way to go about things.. Also, that may not have been the time nor place for correction
OMG Killer Mike fits so well on the show.
I love Killa Mike’s perspective
I agree with every but big papa said. It shouldnt have been a public convo
Mike is 💯💯💯. Very intelligent person. My brother 😎 💯💯💪🏾🐐
