Hey, Roland… I feel like we’re close enough that I can call you that. Just listening to, loving and living your beautiful creations should be enough for that.
I have a playlist named “Stuff that makes me feel” for whenever I feel like a soulless, defeated, pathetic husk of a person incapable of realizing how beautiful life can actually be. Lately I’ve been going back to it more frequently and it scares me. I’m terrified of this toxic indifference that keeps creeping in.
I know there’s warmth and I found it in this song. That’s why this has been on top of that playlist since I first heard it.

Hate how relatable this song is
I found out about this song when i was in a very difficult part of my life. Everything was falling apart around. Drug abuse, family feuds, disappointments and self-immolation. When even i failed to understand the different kinds of pain i felt all the time, this song made me cry like a baby the night i heard it for the first time. It's my most played track on every song playing engine. He described pain he's hurting and we understand because we have felt the same kind of hurt. Brilliant!

I have been repeating this for weeks now, laying on my bed with my phone at my side just listening to his words and stare at my ceiling. But this time, I decided to watch the video, I wanted to see how he plays the piano, how he moves his body while he flows out the lyrics, and noticed that he’s crying at the end. Holy hell it’s too early for me to cry but dammit streams can’t be stopped.

Dear Roland, there is light at the end of this darkness. I have lived with these feelings for half of my life now. Some days, it might not seem like this. But then there are the little moments that make all this battle worth it: from a melody to a quote in a book or the smile of a stranger or a colorful sky at the sunset or whatever has meaning for you. On top of depression I got a pretty bad anxiety after my brother passed. I haven't heard your song. I lived it. Still live it. But "light can be found even in the darkest of times". You are that light to some people. Your gift of music can defeat darkness. Thank you for putting your feelings into this songs and keep fighting your fight. One day you'll wake up and you'll see that you've won. Or at least got used to it.

@@lucaspeters-murphy2770 do you have any idea what this last part means? I think the first part is about idealistic thoughts around suicide. But for "lights are gone, I can't see stars anymore" do you know what this may be referring to?
I think light mean like hope and I think I remember reading something about how he Used to love going out and seeing the stars but when he went out he felt so empty and didn’t feel the happiness that he had previously felt

@@neverending9803 Yes, i do believe that it is about hopelessness and suicide as he says "God, if you're still in charge, I think that I'd like to meet you." and in most/some theologies, dying (or suicide) is the only way to meet God. It's sad.
When I listen to this I just got frozen and can't do anything 'till it' s over. Wonderful

I’m writing this and I’m full with tears, I’d never thought I’ll be that lonely to share how bad I feel here , or to not have any safe place to feel like home in ,I’m not feeling well at all , I’ve never been this weak before and it’s even worse when the closest people to your heart make you feel that way , I’ve been holding it so much lately, but now in this exact moment I admit that i lost it , and I’m giving myself this chance to feel as much weak as i can , hopefully I’ll get better and stronger soon and I’m sure i will .
