- This old Dodge Van used to be a church vehicle but James and Chelsea transformed it into a beautiful and unique tiny house on wheels. They live full time in one of Canada's most expensive city and continue to work full time to save money for traveling. They built the van out to have a fridge, toilet, sliding bed, barn wood cabinets, and it's all powered by solar. they also built a roof top deck which is perfect for some ocean views 🙂 if you want a van like this one, give the video a like and share it with a friend you think would also like it.

I am 73 years old and I moved into my 2014 Chevy Express, fulltime. Fulltime VanLife for 9 Months. A few challenges because of my physical restraints. But in this community people help each other. Thank you!! All the hardships were well worth it and helped us to learn how to better communicate with one another. We wouldn’t change the process in a heartbeat as we came out stronger and more in love than we ever thought possible!

I really like her/their stance on spending time away from each other doing their own things. What a dream having a carpenter! I wish oh so much that I had a carpenter to help me with mine. I had a crash course in buying tools, supplies and than actually building. Their Van is totally sweet. Looks clean and finished. He should start a van building bizz. I dig his style.

LOVE this build!!! It is so much smarter to build the bed to slide out width ways rather than length ways!!! The couch/ storage under the pull out is an amazing design also!!
Thank you for the encouragement. I am a year in to refurbishing a 1994 falcon and definitely in over my head but hopefully with the help of family can finish in the next year in time for retirement. I know I am going to love van life and can’t wait!

Really love the interior design choices inside the van. Looks like a caravan style interior with all the barn wood, the wooden corner mouldings, half shiplap and sage cabinets with the black ornate hardware. Makes it very homey and livable.

Neat and spacious , really enough room to even do yoga if one feels the need . It's a well thought out build , beautiful, and different , it's a sight for tired eyes , tired of seeing one van , like all the other vans look alike like it's one van being driven by different couples , the vans look like they were built by one person . They're all white painted inside like insane asylum institutes or hospitals . But this one is really different , looks cozy ,homey and comfy , just faaabuulous 🇿🇦🇿🇦

We built the composting toilet ourselves. It’s very basic; just a funnel into a jug for 1 and a small garbage bin, bag and some mulch for 2. We even have extra storage on the side for toilet paper :) and thank you, we appreciate that!

I like the build but I’m not quite down with the divided kitchen and the bench. Having to sit on an angle all the time would be difficult so I would have to sit in the middle. Other than that I like it. I especially like the bed facing out rather than side to side. Good luck traveling! Vaya con Dios!

Great build😁 You need to build a faraday Cage out of the electricity storage. Sleeping straight above it is not healthy at all. Thats what most people never think about. Its like having a cell phone in the pocket.

I just sold (9/22) a 2008 class C motorhome with an E450 v10 triton motor with 137k on the clock which is nothing for $19,500. It slept 8 people and was previously a "Cruise America" motorhome. This is cool but you can find much more spacious setups than this with a lot less bother or similar cost to the money they said they spent. This is cool and thanks for sharing but using a class C as a starting point would probably make the most sense for anyone watching and would probably cost similar money, even if you wanted to tweak things.

Is the roll bar the reason u can add all that weight to the top of the van like the deck and solar panels? I ask because i feel like maybe without it and with time and bumps on the road the fiberglass shell will begin to crack
Just kidding I love Chelsea's and James optimism however I would have opted for more space in my van I try to create more space as possible
Where do you get wood chips from?
Honestly, on the side of the road is where we find most of it or friends places with a farm! We tried hamster bedding but that was awful and made it smell worse 😝

One thing that I don't understand is how you go from charging your house batteries to then trickle charge the van battery. Can you enlighten me how to accomplish this?
there are certain solar charge controllers that do this because they charge your house batteries from solar, and alternator when running the engine, when the engine is off and the house batteries are full it diverts that solar energy through the wire to your starting battery, which is the same wire that charges your house batteries when the engine is running. here is one that does that

I hate tech.. I'd just have a portable jackery type thing and one fixed sola panel and one portable one..nothing would be built in.. I'd store my warm clothes and sleeping bags in cushions..no fridge maybe hole in van for cooler that stays under van with rug on top..I have to be able to stand up maybe a delivery type van but not too long..would have to be cheap..if I had 💰 I'd buy a tough but lightweight fiber moulded caravan and topless sports car
