What I don't like about my HF Zurich Pro is the updates are $499 per year. I also attempted to program a new key for the wife's Edge and it would not connect to the PATS system. I ended up using FORSCAN to get it done.
It's not a J2534 device. You can't get the GM software from the GM website for a specific VIN and flash a new PCM. You can't use it as a pass-though to run OEM software that the dealers provide under right-to-repair for the aftermarket. Most of those tools have basic Programmable Module Installation on a limited basis. PMI sucks the data out of the old module, and injects it into the new module. Varying coverage and function exist, and this is generally for stuff like BCMs, ABS modules, smaller stuff. Not emissions control items like PCM/TCM. Modules also have the ability to be "woken up" or network "handshakes" performed. I forget the name for the latter, Chrysler uses it, but it basically has all the modules communicate within a network and make sure they're all happy with one another and have the specific VIN and IDs logged between modules. Proxi Alignment it's called? Some coding functions and reset functions will exist to learn new parts, clear learned values, etc.
My xtool d8 bt has all the capabilities this tool has .... For the price of 850 dollars... 38 special functions... Key programming that will pull the pin codes ... Recalibrations... Biderectional control ... And a lot more activations... Half the price .
I bought my corded Xtool D8 3yrs ago for around $600. It didn't have topology at first but they added it on an update. Not a big deal but it's nice to look at. The topology probably isn't accurate on most non factory scan tools anyway. Great interface, nice graphing, and awesome customer support. I've emailed them with questions in the past and they usually respond the same day. Also great for key programming. My updates end this year. I mite upgrade to a cordless one👍
We are comparing 4 major scanners in our next video! So far if your not working on exotic super cars or wanna look cool you don’t need snap on. But they do have some fun features no one else offers.
Hi, where can I buy this scanner? There is a link to buy the ICON T10 diagnostic scanner.
Thanks in advance.
