    I visited and old church yesterday here filled with lovely old quilts and photos of the makers and stories, it was breath taking. The old stained glasses windows as the back drop have the place an otherworldly feel.
    Your lonestar is magnificent 💌 perfection is over-rated. Thank you for sharing 💗

    The stars upon stars quilt is such a beautiful quilt, I finished mine last year,. Playing with all kind of fabrics is such a pleasure. When I saw this quilt I want to make it, just like you. Did it all by hand and used stamps. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
    The shirt you have made is beautiful.
    Love your vlog.
    Greetings from the Netherlands.

      Ack! you finished one! What a marvel! What do you mean by stamps? Is this something that could help me that I'm not already doing! Can you send me a picture to share on the podcast? Thank you for your kind and supportive words. I'm so glad you're tuning in!

    I am really longing to get on my sewing machine, and you have inspired me to get a wiggle on it! I swapped 2 rooms to give me a larger space for my WFH desk and for crafting. It’s absolute chaos right now, but I look forward to getting it all organized and being able to leave projects in progress out and available. As you said it is so nice not to have to take down and put back up! Your star block is beautiful!! I used to manage a sewing gallery and teach classes and I often reminded students that they are really the only one that needs to love it, and that sometimes done is better than perfect. Well done and thank you for sharing. ❤

    I am so excited to see the sewing, as a long time garment maker and quilter, I think your work is beautiful. We tend to be so critical of our own work, but seeing the hand of the maker is what it is all about. brightest blessings!
    P.S. I think you would love the patterns from twig and tale, if you are not already familiar :)

    When I first began quilting some 40 years ago, I hand-pieced all of my quilt blocks. I felt like I had much more control than I did using the machine and the outcome was much more precise. My current quilts are far less intricate and I piece on the machine. Either way, quilting is such a satisfying craft. Your orange shirt is beautiful. I’ve had great intentions to sew simple garments, but not a terrific success rate. I’m wanting to make an a-line dress and will be trying to hack some of Sonya Phillips patterns. Your journey is inspiring me!

      @FiberTrek  10 місяців тому +1

      Esther, your comment on control is so true...this quilt is most likely going to be my Magnus opus. As you say, the other quilts I'm doing lend themselves to machine piecing. Good luck with your hacks and her patterns are great to do that with!

    The star quilt is gorgeous! An amazing colour combination. I'm sort of hoping you have called off your trip to the Yukon for this year due to our ongoing and massive fires. The capital of NWT, Yellowknife is being evacuated today. Please come next year and things will be better...

      thanks Gail, all worked out and we, as you know now, ended up in Haines AK...we want to come to the Yukon every year and spend more time.

    The star block is stunning Sarah! But for the record, I seem to have exactly the same issue as you, in that no matter how carefully I cut and stitch my pieces, it's totally hit or miss as to whether they end up the "right" size.... it's very frustrating, but I believe you once said (in one of your podcasts many moons ago) that if it's not noticeable by someone galloping past on a horse, looking backwards, then it's a win!!! Keep on keeping on! Best wishes, N

    • @FiberTrek
      @FiberTrek  10 місяців тому

      Okay, this makes me feel soooooo much better!I thought it was me but I really do think the pattern is susceptible seam line etc...galloping horse backwards ;). always good advice for moving one forward on a project through the details.

    With bias edges you have to pin ALOT. ALOT. ALOT! (Like every 1/2”). But it is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful job.

    • @FiberTrek

    Might I suggest using an old, well loved, falling apart piece of clothing to cut apart for a template to make a pattern on some craft or butcher paper. Then fitting won’t be an issue and you can make multiple of your favorite clothes…

    The finished top looks beautiful and comfortable. Loved the colour. I heard about downloading patterns and wondered how you transferred them onto the fabric. Would you please let me know what kind of Reynolds product you were using to trace the pattern?

    • @FiberTrek
      @FiberTrek  10 місяців тому

      That is Reynolds freezer paper! I like it because it has a waxy side I can iron on to my fabric if I need to and cut around it. Thank you for your kind words on the shirt...I lived in it this summer.
