  • In this funny short video, an American woman is on the phone with her Latin American friend, and she doesn't understand the expression "no estoy haciendo nada, si quieres llegar a acompañarme, estás bienvenida" (I'm not doing anything. If you want to come join me, you're welcome).
She arrives with her life jacket and swimming goggles ready to swim, having confused "doing nothing" with "swimming."
The Latin American friend laughs and clarifies that "nada" means "nothing," but is also a form of the verb "nadar" (to swim), for example, "he swims = él nada."
The American woman is very happy to discover that "nada" is a word with two meanings. Two words for one!
