I watch a lot of reviews, like 10 per day, and this was by far the best in depth review I have seen of the Moto X, let alone any other product out there. Good job! It's not full of talking for no reason, but makes good use of most of the life of the video.
I know this is an older post but gotta say, I love this phone. Just got it on May 28, ordering it via the Moto build site, through Verizon, my carrier for over a decade. I got it on a super sale of 99 cents for the base phone and went with the base back (red matte plastic), gold trim and black front, standard black rapid charger. The ONLY upgrade was I sprung for the 32GB version for an extra $50. This isn't my first Motorola, not by a long shot, my previous phone was the Motorola Droid Razr, running Jelly Bean, though it began with Gingerbread initially. So the Moto X and Lollipop are huge upgrades for me. Ultimately, the reviews all over pretty much sold me on it, and checking it out at a local Verizon store sold me and pulled the trigger while on sale. Love this channel and stumbled onto it through searching for I think USB On the Go, or other phone reviews and have enjoyed many of the reviews provided here. They are quite comprehensive and gives one a good idea of what to expect with the product, a good thing in my view, and not all reviews do this. Thus I am having an easier time with Lollipop (and just being familiar with Android to begin with helps), but still, there are things Jelly Bean just never could do. I have been impressed with the build quality of my old Razr and love how the current phone feels in the hand, it has some heft to it without being heavy, and feels solid. Overall, am happy with my purchase, though time will tell how much I continue to enjoy it, but have remained mostly satisfied with the old phone until it began to get laggy and the battery began to diminish, but it IS 3 years old now. If anything, it would be nice if the battery was replacable, and/or a bit bigger, but we'll see how it performs with my mostly light use, though today from a full charge, I sucked the battery down in barely 8 hours until it died. Am conditioning it though..
I bought my Moto X last week and they havent even made it yet. When I bought my 2013 Moto X they assembled it the next morning and it arrived within 3 days.
Matt Nicholas megapixels aren't the end all be all. The sensor, software, and megapixel count all have to be good together. A sub par sensor with 13 megapixels and decent software won't be as good as a great sensor with good software and 12 megapixels
DetroitBorg: I was watching this video on my Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and you were saying "ok Google now" and it would open Google now on my tablet. I find that kind of funny lol.
Should I get the lg G4 when released, htc one m9 when released, or the Moto x 2nd gen now just based off of screen quality and speed of the phone in general
Would you recommend the Moto x 2nd generation?? I'm upgrading this month and I wanna try this phone out. Would it be good or just wasting my time on it
Hey Mike, will the unlocked version of the Moto X get android updates faster than the AT&T/Verizon versions? or does it not make a difference and will all get android L at the same time?
Thank You! These lengthy comprehensive reviews take quite a bit of time to put together. I work hard every day to pump them out while continuing to improve the content and visuals.
Thats completely fine, all of your fans who have been subscribing since almost day 1 look forward to your uploads and the time difference doesn't matter. Always good quality. Looking forward to iPad mini 3 and iPad Air 2 videos as well as new iMac 5k videos!
i love my moto x (2nd gen.) I've only had it a week but it is still amazing. It has a very quick response time to anything i do. one thing i love about it is that it automatically sets to driving mode, unlike my old phone (lg lucid) on which i never figured out how to turn on driving mode. I highly recommend the moto x 2
Great video Mike! I have the Moto X (2014) and I'm really enjoying it. Although you're right, camera performance is not the best and battery life could be improved (hopefully Android L does that). With my personal use I can get through a full day and camera is not an issue for me, I rarely use it, so it's perfect for me!
Out of the box does it turbo charge or do you have to get a different charger. Also which is better this or the Nexus 6? Including price, accessories, OK Google configure, message on boot up and of course specs.
I'm seriously debating between this and the normal iphone 6... I love the specs of this phone, the look of it, the fact that its getting android L, but my note 3 is getting laggy and the animation performance isnt very consistent. I believe the iphone's performance is relatively consistent. Is a stock androids consistent too? or is it just touchwiz that lags my phone?
Great review! This thing is going to be such a beast when it gets Android L (which should significantly improve the battery performance) and Motorola sends a software update for the camera!
Hey thanks man for your reviews, I've got I better a understanding of phones, looking forward to your next phone review, and can you tell me how you get all these phone and what you do with them after the reviews, do you keep them sell them, you know what I mean, thanks man :)
Nice review. This phone looks good except for the battery life and sub-par camera quality. I guess they had to cut costs somewhere to come in cheaper than the Galaxy or iPhone series.
Went does every single reviewer say the android on this moto x is closet to stock android??? It is exactly freaking stock. Do you see any difference between this and the nexus 5 while browsing around?
It isn't worth to change a nexus 5 with a moto x 2014 because both of them are almost the same, if you ask me to change that phone, i would choose a sony xperia z2 or a z3 as a replacement.
Hi Mike, another great video. I have the Droid Maxx, and I absolutely love the phone especially the battery. I always get at least a day and a half, its amazing. I wish Moto put this 3500 mamp battery in all there phones. To bad this new one doesn't. Gio.
***** The leather looks worn because most of the livestock it comes from either have imperfections in there skin or it could be scars from previous injuries from barbwired fencing or branding. My brand new leather couches came with a manual explaining why the leather could have imperfections and it's totally normal.
Rumors usually start from leaks of the manufacturing being done. No rumors usually means no manufacturing. Even if they announce it it'll be a 2015 release
Great review mike!!! This Moro x 2 looks amazing I actually had the first Moro x and there were no complaints regardless what anyone said about the camera. It's a phone if people want to judge a phone by its camera if that's the case......then BUY A CAMERA!!! Lol!!! To me the Moro x's are amazing 😊👍
Sharath Daniel Flipkart jesi farji jaga? Man I haven't personally got anything from Flipkart but have gotten new that many times the "phones" are usually frauds
Arpit Mehta Moto phones are exclusive to Flipkart in India. Moto G was sold out like hot cakes. Also many people have bought from them, haven't heard any complaints.
I'm debating on which phone to get the new moto x or the older one. I'm coming from a really crappy phone. I am on a relatively tight budget. I've also been looking into the moto G 2nd gen. Any thoughts?
I am in the same situation, but the non LTE is what will kill me with the Moto G. I luckily was able to get a code during the cyber monday event and so hopefully I'll get the new X. My current phone is dying on me and I hope this will lead me into a great situation.
If you are planning on keeping your phone for a long time, you should rather go with the Moto G, as it's got an LCD screen, more durable than Moto X's amoled panel which might get burn in after a while.
I just purchased this phone and like most things about it. the only thing I don't like is having to use the QWERTY keyboard. I am hoping I missed something and there is an option to use the classic dial pad or t9. did I miss something or is it only QWERTY that I can use to type?
Kelly Chu Yes, it's preinstalled, and yes, it's removeable, you get the ejection tool as it's a nano sim, and yes, I have this very phone via Verizon so I know first hand.
As alwayas,.very good review!! Hey, i just wanna ask you, will this phone last for years?i mean because of the display,i would like to buy this phone but i have heard that amoled displays are prone to burns, which worries me...what do you think guys?thanks...
+Torling Pader I just broke my Moto X 1st Gen a week ago from dropping it off a table on accident :(. But I had it for much over 2 years! And I bet the 2nd Gen is even better! I highly recommend this phone as long as you don't drop it from high places as much as I did :P

Exactly!
***** Hi, what is the battery life of Moto X 2nd Gen? Im struggling to choose this or nexus 6
I love how professional you are, not like the other guys who try to make a wise crack ever 10 seconds.

You do make the most in depth reviews around. Keep up the good work
Fusion Thank You, got much more to come :)
7 years later, I am in a moto x gen 2 in great condition watching a UA-cam video.
Mike, you are the man!
Druggo
Wow.. I was looking on this channel for the review of it, just to give up and see it come out a day later.
I look forward to your detailed and thorough videos. Keep up the good work. You, mkbhd, Michael fisher, & josh are the best!
Just got this phone today from republic wireless and I love it. Thanks for doing this review Mike!
Is it still a fast phone or did it slowed down and become laggy??
+The Awesome Mastermind (Jay) it's still fast not very light as my old moto X was because I used it alot
and for whatever reason I hate the active display so I always have it off 😁😁😁
I bought my Moto X last week and they havent even made it yet. When I bought my 2013 Moto X they assembled it the next morning and it arrived within 3 days.
The review I was waiting for!
I'm so grateful to subscribed you because your videos are well done perfect Mike.
great as always mike! the pictures you showed were at full resolution 13mpxl? or 9mpxl for the 16:9 aspect?
Motorola has the best booting animation ever
And best theme, “Hello Moto,”
Another great one Mike , I'm liking the phone so far but the camera is the biggest disappointment...
Agreed, great hardware and software let down by the camera.
I don't get why people are saying this. It's a 13 MP camera..
Matt Nicholas megapixels aren't the end all be all. The sensor, software, and megapixel count all have to be good together. A sub par sensor with 13 megapixels and decent software won't be as good as a great sensor with good software and 12 megapixels
***** That sadly seems to be a theme with many great Android devices.
I've been clamoring for this one! Time to chill and enjoy!
Thanks Tomas! :)
***** the waving hand feature is cool!
Excellent unboxing and review! I certainly enjoyed when watching your videos! Keep up the good job!
DetroitBorg: I was watching this video on my Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and you were saying "ok Google now" and it would open Google now on my tablet. I find that kind of funny lol.
Mike, how do its battery life compares to the iPhone 6 (4.7")?? Which is better?
Quick question, can you use moto voice without being connected to any mobile data or wireless?
Watching this on a moto x gen 2 in 2023. 👍
How does it hold up? I'm writing this comment on one with android 6, wish I could downgrade it to kitkat
Hey Mike. How do you get all phones?? Where do you get money from?
Hello man, in your honest opinion what phone will be better to get next month, Moto X, Xperia z3, or the OnePlus?
You are legendary reviewer !!!!
So, which phone will you use now ???
Should I get the lg G4 when released, htc one m9 when released, or the Moto x 2nd gen now just based off of screen quality and speed of the phone in general
Thanks, your reviews are very informative and in-depth and make it easier to compare models.
As usual superb review mike! But I would like to know know which smart watch you are using currently??
Can you do an updated review with the latest Android update that fixed many issues?
Would you recommend the Moto x 2nd generation?? I'm upgrading this month and I wanna try this phone out. Would it be good or just wasting my time on it
Hey Mike, will the unlocked version of the Moto X get android updates faster than the AT&T/Verizon versions? or does it not make a difference and will all get android L at the same time?
Can you do some comparison videos between Motorola devices like Nexus 6, Moto X 2014 and Turbo ?
im torn between these devices for my next phone
dear DetroitBorg, I can't between the iphone 6 plus or the samsung galaxy note 4, or anything else you recommend
which would you choose?
Hey mike, any problem with the leather back?
Every time you say "OK google" in your videos my phone responds lol
Mike you don't upload much but when you do you do it right. Great videos and great quality. Keep it up and don't stop. iPhone 6 or Moto X 2nd Gen?

Where can I buy the 2nd gen Moto X pure edition? Besides online at there website?? Thanks in advance.
Can you do a Sony Z3 review? I was thinking about getting that or the G3...which one do you recommend?

Thanks Isaac!
Its late 2017 & Im really considering buying this

Been thinking of getting a Moto X ever since the rumors of the first generation one, sadly i got my M8 on launch day and can't get this :(
This comment was made on the motox 2nd gen! I love everything about it, except for the battery life!
Hahaha, your pin is 1701. A real Star Trek fan!
Hi, can you give me a link of Motorola e-store in you video? In our country Moto X is out of store.
Do you see any difference between this and the nexus 5 while browsing around?
yes, different camera, active notifications
Xperia Z3 and Moto X comparison please. These are the two phones I am considering.
Are you going to review the Blackberry Passport?
Hey DetroitBorg!
I was wondering if you could review the BLU Win HD 😁
Very sharp and clear!! Awesome mike
What phone would you recommend as an upgrade from the Nexus 5? The moto x second generation or the Nexus 6?
It isn't worth to change a nexus 5 with a moto x 2014 because both of them are almost the same, if you ask me to change that phone, i would choose a sony xperia z2 or a z3 as a replacement.
Skynz Samp Thank you
You are welcome :)
Will you do a review of OS yosmithe
Are u gonna review windows 10 after its launch ...?¿
is this worth getting? (especially with free 50gb cloud storage?, mega.co.nz), or should I wait for new phones like the galaxy s6, sony z4 etc?
Hi Mike, another great video. I have the Droid Maxx, and I absolutely love the phone especially the battery. I always get at least a day and a half, its amazing. I wish Moto put this 3500 mamp battery in all there phones. To bad this new one doesn't. Gio.
Nice review.....My Moto X is on the way....I don't use much camera so I am good.
Excellent review, It's The best review I seen it For Moto X 2014 it's Fully information , Thank you .
I still can't decide between this phone, the htc one m8 and the xperia z3. Help?
just ordered mine can't wait
+Ethan Lopez Same here, did u use your Promo code which give you 50$ off?
Can u please make an Unboxing & Review of the Moto X Play..
Does the battery last very long on this phone?
Should I get the Moto X or the LG G3? The Moto X costs like 50 bucks more though.
How is the battery life on this phone?
Hey Mike! What about the battery? is it good? what's your opinion?
I did cover that in the review :)
Really? Can you tell me the minute? Thanks!
PixGameplay
It's towards the end, around 17:30
Thanks!
Hey DetroitBorg,do you think Apple will release the new iPod touch 6 this month.
That would be a bit of a surprise since we've heard absolutely no rumors on this product.

What would be better the IPhone 5s or the Moto X 2nd gen
I absolutely love this phone but will I be able to buy it in Asia? Haven't seen it anywhere
Flipkart.com, if you are in India.

Which one is better lg g flex or Motorola Moto X (2nd Gen)
Lol every time he said ok Google my HTCs Google now would sender stopping the video 😂

So say I buy the moto X(2014)by the moto store online but I'm on t mobile who doesn't have it do I still get their service?
T-mobile doesn't carry Moto X 2nd gen, so dissapointed
if you buy the pure edition like i did and it works great with t mobile but is 500 bucks

I would go for the X. Check out the X Developer edition 32gb for $250 or less on eBay.
John B. Now I'm leaning more towards the htc one m8. I can't get the moto 2nd gen because I'm on Verizon and its a gsm phone.
How bout the moto x 2g or maybe even the Alcatel onetouch idol 3
1:45 logo ring, not camera ring.
So Mike, how's the leather back?
So far so good, it's been wet, dragged across a table, and holding up fine. Black is probably the most forgiving.
+DetroitBORG may you review a Dell inspiron 13 700 2-in 1 windows 10
Detroitborg, wouldn't you want to see a new iPod touch with a bigger screen and Touch ID.
I just purchased this phone and like most things about it. the only thing I don't like is having to use the QWERTY keyboard. I am hoping I missed something and there is an option to use the classic dial pad or t9. did I miss something or is it only QWERTY that I can use to type?
install touchpal keyboard for t9, you're welcome
Hey Mike, when can you get the xperia z3 to review?
I'm editing that right now, should be up this week.
Oh, thanks ;)
Will we have a removable sim card if the phone is from verizon?
Kelly Chu Sadly no it comes with a sim card pre-installed
Kelly Chu
Yes, it's preinstalled, and yes, it's removeable, you get the ejection tool as it's a nano sim, and yes, I have this very phone via Verizon so I know first hand.
Has your iPhone 6 shown any bend problems?
Nope
Really a shame that only customized Moto X's now are assembled in the US
Do you know what store it would be availabale in?
***** Best Buy, AT&T, Verizon..possibly T-Mobile.

2) Hey please help I was really confused on choosing either a MOTO X 2014 or a Nexus 6 . Suggest me .

But the core capabilities that Moto X is providing us like naming a phone and touché less controls are very useful I guess . What do u say ??
When you will do the note 4
Michel said 'OK Google' and my Moto responded to that.
Quite interesting
Should I get this or the nexus 6 for my first nexus device? Also does anybody know how much the nexus 6 is on a 2 year contract?
The Moto X 2014 is not the "Official" Nexus device so the only one would be Nexus 6. From AT&T it's $249.
is this phone's screen too fragile? i heard that ts screen is too fragile and screen replacement is just as expensive as the new phone.
Well they fix the first moto x camera with a huge software update and man do the colors look much better. Hopefully they release a update for the camera software cause it needs it bad!!! I just got this phone yesterday and my god what a worthy upgrade from the GS4.
