  • Watch the longstanding champion, Vitamix 750 Professional vs. the New Breville Boss in our Superblender showdown!
    We first put the blender through three tough challenges:
    0:10 - Pulverizing a carrot with no added liquid
    1:12 - Pulverizing a squash segment with no added liquid
    2:10 - Creating a smooth and creamy nut butter with a strict time limit
    We then tried two everyday tasks:
    4:21 - Blending a simple smoothie of almond milk and seedy berries
    5:14 - Blending soup, using blade friction as the only heat source

    I believe that you should use the blender for their intended function. For example, if I wanted to puree a carrot, I would use a food processor because it's purpose-built for these types of tasks with its assortment of blades. In general, a high-speed blender is good when you have a fair amount of liquid and want a smooth consistency. Thus, it's great for making soups, smoothies, dips, sauces, pastes, rubs, nut butter, non-dairy milk, and milling related tasks. Otherwise, I would recommend a food processor for the task. In summary, there's some task crossover between the two appliances but both do have their strengths and weaknesses depending on the task.

    The Boss is just as good as the Vitamix, but slightly different. Because the blades and container on the boss does both grinding hard seeds and also smoothies, there is a trade off. And that is time. If it takes a Vitamix 1 minute to make a green smoothie, it takes the Boss about 1 minute 20 seconds or so. Same result, just wait an extra 20 seconds. The Boss gives you same times as a Vitamix to do the work in their directions I think, and that just isn't right. Take about 30% longer with the Boss. Also use a bit of ice or very water in your recipes. Or a little frozen fruit. I mostly have frozen banana pieces handy. The extra 20 or 30 seconds can slightly warm up a smoothie, so that's why.

    Why should I be fussed about the soup being 42 Celsius (50 degree will scotch my tongue) and the smoothie not being extremely smooth? No difference to me, except the prices.

    l had a Bosch MMBH6P6BGB VitaBoost High-Performance Blender for 8 months, for first 5 months it was great. The metal base directly below the jug and underneath the blades gets very dirty from all the blending, the blend will seep under there no matter how tight the blade. The problem is we can't get access to it, no screws or twisting, only special company tools can give you access. The dirt builds up until it goes from a bright silver to a darkish shade. Worse thing is this seeps into your blend, making it toxic, as l am sure some of it is the lubricant used for the bearings for the rotating blades. Yes I use baking soda and water on the cleaning mode, even blend lemon pieces, but that does not get rid of the filthy base, only elbow grease, but we can't access. is there a blender which has an easy to clean metal base? btw the metal rotating nut at bottom of jug is also leaking profusely on the 8th month. usage is totally 'normal' ~ once a day for 15mins?

    I decided to buy the Breville Boss for three specific reasons. First I own several other Breville products and they all work extremely well, secondly their customer service is fantastic. I had a toaster that failed about 6 months out of warranty and they replaced it and they paid for shipping both ways. And lastly With the weeks of reading I have done, I have seen hundred of complaints about the Vitamix and Blendtec Containers blowing the bottom gaskets and if you are in warranty, they usually get replaced for free. But the fact of the matter is that the average time a Vitamix or Blendtec Canister will last before leaking is anywhere from out of the box to 18 months.

      I hear and read that that Blendtec's don't last. Motor issues and leaky carafes. The Breville has been perfect and we use it several times a week. Maybe there is a reason they put a 7 year warranty. They know it is going to break.

    Novice here, but have been blending for a bit now. Currently using a run-of-the-mill blender. What are the benefits of purchasing an expensive blender? I understand it'll be smoother, but the consistency which my smoothies come out doesn't seem to bother me. I guess what I'm asking is for fruit smoothies is an expensive blender necessary?

    I don't think this is a fair test. I have tried the Breville and did not get the same results.

    ok So, I think its good to do comparison but I hate when People do unfair comparissons, its like comparing a Ferrari to BMW.
    The Vitamix you have there is a Professional series 750 with a 2.2 HP motor and cost $769 Cabadian dollars. The Boss is 2HP motor and cost $599 Canadian.
    Why don't you do a fair comparison with The Vitamix C-series which has a same 2HP motor as the Breville and almost around the same price?
    That would be a fair comparison.

    • @wesleyjordan8349
      @wesleyjordan8349 9 років тому

      Romeo Soprano The Vitamix machines with 2.2HP don't perform any differently than the 2.0HP machines. The 2.2HP machines need that extra power to drive the larger blade in the newer generation machines. They perform exactly the same. The cheapest Vitamix would kill the Breville Boss.

      Wesley Jordan - you clearly work for VitaMix and your claim is totally bogus. Many chefs disagree with you. Your analysis is pure nonsense. Try again and at least try to make them believable. You look so foolish arguing over a blender. Does it hurt you to hear the truth from so many people, including this video? And you say my analysis is pure nonsense? Really? What analysis are you referring to? I don't work for Vitamix. I just know good equipment (Vitamix) and I also know average at best equipment (Breville) and I buy what gets the job done perfectly in the least amount of time with the least amount of hassle. That's how chefs operate sir so I highly doubt any chef would disagree and say the Breville is better, let alone the Boss being better than any Vitamix and any price. Man, you need to take a chill pill. Once again, it's just a blender. Stop attacking people's opinions and attacking this video.

      There is a test shown by a chef using both blenders and The Boss wins overall. Plus, they mill flour in that test and when milled in the Vitamix, because it takes longer, the flour discolors. The Boss milled flour doesn't. You can see a REAL test with Chef Heston and you'll see far different results - which are actually more accurate. Again it is obvious Cucina Moderna is supported by Vitamix. No one else gets the results they manufactured.

      Joy of Blending- you're clearly - like Cucina, paid by Vitamix. The chef would NOT soil his reputation by faking a demo. He basically set the machines up and turned them on - they performed. Unlike Cucina where the demonstrator interfered with the performance. I've compared both - side by side. There is NO comparison. Plus, I've taken popcorn kernels, milled them down to cornmeal in The Boss in 45 seconds, then added egg, buttermilk, baking soda, salt - then poured into cast iron pan to bake. Perfect cornbread - which you CAN'T do in the Vitamix. Again, you're clearly PAID by Vitamix. The chef didn't taint the test - he let the machines perform. And, you lied - it WAS NOT an ad.

I've saw both in action I personally think the boss is superior. Also it has a self cleaning mode which is important. Both are great products but I could see straight off this test wasn't preformed right it was unfair becuase i've personally saw the boss do a better job so that alone raises suspicion or she just don't know how to use it properly.

    I bought both machines to see which one works best and I can assure anyone here that the Vitamix outperforms the Breville Boss hands down!! It took the Boss longer to make nut butter. With 4 cups of peanuts I was able to make peanut butter in 40 seconds on the Vitamix. It took 1.5 minutes to get the same consistency on the Breville Boss.
    Also I hate how the Breville Boss's smoothie presets don't start out on slow and gradually increase speed as they should. Plus they over-blend the drinks with all the starting and stopping constantly. The Vitamix makes true commercial-quality smoothies. Also the Breville does not make frozen desserts well. It can't seem to suck down the ingredients to create frozen dessert. I had no problem on the Vitamix making ice cream and sorbets. Worked perfectly every time. Seems like there are some butthurt Breville Boss fans here that couldn't stand to see the Vitamix win. I guess the truth hurts.

    • @WGGoin
      @WGGoin 9 років тому

      Wesley Jordan
      - not even close. I have The Boss and a friend of mine bought the Vitamix. He took it back and got The Boss because it is FAR superior. It takes less time o make nut butter. I've ground popcorn kernels into corn meal in 45 seconds then mixed corn bread in the same container - can't do that with the Vitamix. You either have no clue how to use The Boss or you can't tell the truth. Anyone who sees the two used by a capable demonstrator - side by side - walks out with The Boss every time. I bought mine at a kitchen store where all the staff are very capable. Each of them recommends The Boss over the VitaMix. It's more powerful and a better machine.
      The truth clearly hurts you since you've had to lie to try to make a point that is totally bogus. People who see both machines know better. Keep lying to yourself. You just look foolish and it shows the person you are.

    • @wesleyjordan8349
      @wesleyjordan8349 9 років тому

      Wow, you are so butthurt. You had to go into such a long defense over your Boss blender. There's a reason NOT A SINGLE COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT uses the Breville Boss and virtually EVERY RESTAURANT uses a Vitamix. It's because the Vitamix is capable of doing everything very well and is unmatched. Sorry pal. I bought both and the Boss went back. Been in the food industry for years. Take off your Breville fanboy glasses. And if the kitchen housewares store is pushing the Boss over the Vitamix it's because Breville has a special contract for the stores to do so. Every retail store is the same way. They are told to push things that don't sell well. I'll bet more of that housewares store owns a Vitamix than they do the Boss. Sorry if it hurts you to hear the truth.

    • @WGGoin
      @WGGoin 9 років тому

      Wesley Jordan - first your argument sounds so juvenile. You believe that posting like a 10 year old makes your points? Not a chance.
      There are several commercial establishments that use The Boss and more will as it becomes better known. It only came out in September 2014. However, the Breville Hemisphere Blender is ranked # 1 in regular blenders and chefs love it. As more become familiar with The Boss MORE will use it. People I know are returning their VitaMix and getting the Boss - many in very high end stores that sell both machines. You clearly know nothing. Plus it is obvious you got taken and have buyer's remorse. Don't worry - The Boss is here to stay and more and more people are loving it - because it is an outstanding machine that can do more than the VitaMix.

    • @wesleyjordan8349
      @wesleyjordan8349 9 років тому +1

      LMAO. You're getting so bent out of shape over a BLENDER. Are you listening to yourself? And as far as the Breville Boss being used in "Several" commercial establishments, NAME THEM. You can't. But I can name a laundry list of well known commercial establishments that use Vitamix. Plus nearly every mid-level to top-end restaurant uses Vitamix exclusively. The Boss does not even meet standards for commercial use, so don't make up stuff sir. I've been in the commercial food business for many years dealing with distribution and manufacturing. I KNOW cooking equipment very well.
      Chefs are NOT using the Breville Hemiphere. Just by you saying that now I know 100% that you're just a Breville fanboy that can't stand to hear the truth the Vitamix is unmatched. You can go around UA-cam, hardly anyone has a Breville Boss video so why in the world professional chefs be using them? LOL. I see successful Vitamix videos from average customers on UA-cam all the time and people are very happy.
      Then you accused this housewares store of rigging the test just because the Boss LOST against the Vitamix. You need professional help. The Boss is just a basic blender that looks nice but is over-priced for the very average performance it offers. It's just a few steps above a Ninja machine.

    • @WGGoin
      @WGGoin 9 років тому

      Wesley Jordan- YOU'RE the one who appears to be bent out of shape. Plus, you're a liar. You don't know every mid-level to top-end restaurant - period. I know several which now use the Boss and love it.
      You've shown you are immature and I'm stunned that VitaMix hired someone so juvenile in their approach to presenting an intelligent argument in favor of their machine. It speaks volumes about the company - none of it good.
      VitaMix is a fine machine. The Boss has topped them. Your inability to post the truth is very telling about the insecurity of the VitaMix company.
      Now, I refuse to "discuss" anything with someone who is a childish as you are in your approach to presenting an intelligent argument for a product. You really need more training as to how to discuss topics in an adult fashion.

      Cucina Moderna Then you don't know how to operate the Boss. The Boss doesn't even need the pusher for the very green smoothies. You clearly have no clue and it is obvious you don't know what you're doing. I looked at both machines before getting The Boss and my friend who had just bought a Vitamix returned hers for The Boss. We are both delighted with our purchases and they do a MUCH better job than this joke of a test shows. There is obviously a problem with the test here as it is NOT indicative of the REAL results.
      I have NO reason to feel defensive. I bought the BEST blender. Clearly YOU need to be defensive as yours is NOT up to the Boss.

      W. G. Goin If you're so confident, why don't you post a video displaying the Boss blender in action? I'm looking forward to it.

    Is this a joke? This is the worst test I've ever seen. What a waste of time. I think it takes somebody with a knowledge on how to operate both machines and some general common sense to do a good test/comparison, none of the conditions were met.

      Heh tell it like it is!! :) Don't know if she ran the soup test long enough. Did I miss how long? Should be around 6 minutes on high (10)...heh...But I am interested in the Super Q though..heh..though I'd mostly likely go for a Vitamix a3300 or a3500...heh

    I hate how people do review these days like: this superior expensive chef thing is better over some good sturdy thing. Wtf? Not all people need chef machine in their kitchen, not everyone can afford most expensive things, not everyone complains if they have few big seeds in their juices. I know KitchenAid, Vitamix, n certain brands are the best, what about making review for stuffs that good enough for everyday use, reasonable prices but good quality n durability, n practicality (easy to clean up, no need for big space, light weight, easy to understand for new users...etc) you all act like everyone wants a Martha Stewart kitchen in their homes

    So, from reading the comments, the Breville is far superior because it can grind corn into cornmeal, and if you disagree, you're either childish, a liar, or being paid by Vitamix.

      Randy Plett The people getting all worked up are probably upset because they own a Chinese-made Breville and they just realized they overpaid for something that will break in 6 months. My Vitamix will outlast that Breville, and if I have any issues I can call and speak to an American and not some Indian call center who has no clue how to help you.

      +Quisquellano26 I knew a girl, she bought a 110V 60Hz Vitamix from USA because it was cheaper, then proceeded to plug it into a UK 230V 50Hz socket. It was a bit louder and smelled a bit "hot" till one day I pointed out it was running wayy out of spec and she should probably get on the phone to Vitamix with some sob story about ordering the wrong one and having never used it.. It worked! They cross shipped a replacement, blaming themselves for not picking up that a USA unit was being registered in London.

      Breville is a very high quality product and compares very well to the Vitamix. It is FAR from junk.

    Vitamix is best. Always has been. For decades. They invented blending technology as we know it, and have done nothing but improve it decade after decade.
    Why even bother with anything else? Seriously.

    Okay BOTH did poorly. You cant use a 64 ounce container for a single serve anything especially if it’s frozen; that’s just common sense. Second, this video is completely terrible and poorly made. The test of flawed from the beginning. You guys need to make a more realistic test especially with the carrots, if you’re going to chop or mince in any blender it needs to be a wet chop. Add water.
