- Showing the figures that are best in the eyes of collectors to Build Gi Joe Cobra Armies. Then a tour of my Army Diorama in which my Favorite Army Builders are overrunning our beloved Gi Joes.

I'm a huge army builder in MOTUC and G.I. Joe.. I am selling off my Joes on Hisstank under cobra viper in the Buy/sell/Trade forum, My favorite army builder figure was always and will forever be POC/30TH Cobra Viper. My collection however is all 25th to 50th. I love the b.a.t. as well. great figure.. I've never owned anything from the 80s though, my b.a.t. is 25th.. then their are all the other b.a.t.s. My childhood was he-man and I lost all of it during a move. I have reclaimed almost everything that I lost back when I was about 8. My troopers and vipers were set at 20 an army..

I love Phase One Clone Troopers. Don't care about any of the rest, just that first group. I must have twenty of them, and I'd still grab more if they were more reasonably priced these days.

Hey nice setup you have there. I can't wait to move so I can get my collection organized. Half of my collection is and half is not. Lol I've been a troop builder for almost my whole life. I was lucky enough to gather up 💯 Crimson Guardsman. I have gathered over 50 Cobra troops, but not sure how many Cobra Officers. Now I should say this is the new stuff, not the vintage o-ring stuff. I find customizing the new stuff is better cause I can make each character my own. I love the o-ring stuff cause I grew up on them. G.I.Joe was, is, and always will be the best toy line ever.
I remember the excitement of January and February waiting to get a new vehicle and pulling out the new mini catalog for that year.
I loved cutting out the file cards and putting them in order. Also the mail away catalog and saving those flag points. That all should come back. That's what made collecting G.I.Joe so special.

I came for the free stuff and I am staying for the great content! The cobra soldier/officer started my army building. The viper is super cool too.
I always liked version 2 of alley viper more than the original. Same with version 2 of snow serpent. I know no one mentions this figure but I think army building the headhunter stormtrooper is a good idea that figure is amazing.
I started army building when the Iron Grenadiers came out. Alley and Night vipers followed. Then eBay came out and I started buying lots. The hardest ones to army build are those BATS.
I was always a fan of the Night Vipers. Loved how the gun would attach to his side, but hated now he holds it in his hand though. Also love that he had both versions of Hit & Run he's my favorite figure.

I collected all of masters of the universe classics skeletor and henchmen for the snake mountain.
It must of cost me over 600 pounds.
Finding out they wasn't releasing it gradually sold them all was gutted.
I have over 150 star wars figures all the scum none of the heros,
All bounty hunter tatooine jabbas palace.
Oh plus about 30 storm troopers and imperial stuff to crash land in dune wastes or storm in on jabba

Awesome collection, got me thinking I'd like to go 1 step futher with the Viper and have an army of Python Vipers led by either Pthon Copperhead or Python Officer 🐍

If Hasbro would make some re color versions of each of these vipers. Six packs of Bats in different environment colored o ring figures. I would have bought them all in the stores. I got like 5 of the viper sets and 3 of the night watch. Things like those pack would have been great.

I dig the choices of army builders.
Some make more sense than others but the sheer amount of choices are a huge part of the hobby.
I will be the guy to say that some folks do take it a bit too far at times...grabbing up hundreds of the same figure.
I feel like, if we are to be considered a true community, we should keep others in mind too when collecting.
As in don't get more than you can actually play with.
My magic numbers are between 6-10.
I was big into Pursuit of COBRA and since their debut, certain troops have become pretty hard to find.
So I didn't want to rob anyone(at least in my area.)of the chance to enjoy these awesome figures.

Cobra officer is the first figure I saw on the pegs in '83. Love all the cobra troops, Snow Serpent is my favorite. Unfortunately, army building is next to impossible with Cobra troopers running $50 and over....
Alley Viper was my favorite figure, Joe or Cobra.

Funny subject of "Army building", as I thought that I was the only one to do something like this. Because I would see multiples of certain type of soldiers at shops, and thought why not have a bunch of GI Joe and Cobra grunts, or even a bunch of Stormtroopers for Star Wars.
Well I better start buying up what I see then, now that I know there are others doing the same.
Thats why I love these FB groups and youtube videos. I get to see there are other crazy people JUST Like ME
I still have all of my GI Joe stuff, which I had collected a lot when I was a kid, and had the state of mind even then to keep my stuff in great condition. Though my collection isn't quite on your level, I just might start up again and get the few items I wanted but hadn't picked up back then.
But if you want to know CRAZY, you have to consider the era when I became a teenager and got my first job, and learned that the more I worked- the more games I could buy. I had amassed a HUGE collection of SEGA games and still have all of them CIB.
But you are entirely right about these videos and groups-
it is really cool to see people's collections get uploaded, just to see what you might be missing or always wanted, or just to see how they have collected and displayed their collections.

Nice collection , ...Ive noticed that most Joe collectors army build the 3 you mentioned... 86 Vipers, 86 BATS and 85 Crimson Guards ...but most.also build 85 EELS and 85 snowserpents ...so the focus seems to be the years 1985-1986 .. There are heaps of 86 Vipers ...they pop up on eBay all the time so I think you can easily reach your target of 100 if you start buying them all. I wish you good luck in your quest 😁🍷

Really awesome I love the cover bats I only built them for a while and then I traded them all off I'm really building a lot of stormtroopers and clone troopers that's really really cool I still have a few bats left because they're so awesome trying to get my GI Joe collection back up again
I prefer to tuck the gun under the arm for a more secure look. Try it maybe.
Have you seen the Soundbots on ebay before? Inspired by the old GI Joe vs TF comic series, there's a company that sells them online. They are BATS with a Soundwave theme. They look really cool and seem to be well done. I haven't bought any myself, but I've been tempted to build an army of these guys! They look cool and Soundwave is my favorite TF character. If you go on ebay, just type in "soundbots". They are on there now.

Great collection! For me it's about variety. I am working on army building but I'm only getting 5-10 of each of the Cobra troops that way in a scene there's multiple different style of troops on the field of battle.

You guys are the reason I don’t have any alley vipers or cobra officers and such. Storm troopers as well. It’s irritating what that has done to the market for collectors like me who just want one of each or so and don’t have an arm or a leg to spend. I’m not judging you personally but I am bothered that greed of large amounts of the same one is making an otherwise regular figure super costly. To update folks who likely already know: V1 Alley Vipers are $35-50 right now. That’s stupid. I have the entire upper torso of my childhood Alley Viper but in order to get him complete I would be paying the same amount for a whole complete one.
Army building is a step away from hoarding and drives up the prices and lowers the amount of the figures in circulation. I limit myself to one of anything, that way other people have the opportunity to own one as well. I don't need more than one. No one does.
