      Sadly I was behind the fence but would loved to have chatted to them. Great seeing parents medals proudly worn on right side of jackets too.

      @@snipper1ie I personally was not in the army. A soldier knows what it takes to earn a medal, so a soldier wearing a fathers or mothers medals on his right breast indicates his pride and love for his parents and what they went through. I think it’s a lovely tradition.

    A lot of medels on most of those men 👏🇬🇧

      Yes, these past soldiers must have seen some actions and service. Sadly I had to peer through fence to record as it was closed event. These men should be cheered by the public as they march. Retired soldiers with so many experiences should lead all military parades.

      @@IansOddInterests a lot of pre amalgamation men there too. They go back at least as far as Aden. I see Skins and Faughs. Didn't notice any rifles. They were probably represented though.

      Hopefully they will be out again for Remembrance Sunday at local church. A parade usually leaves the barracks, so fingers crossed.

    Is the UDR the finest fighting force

    • @IansOddInterests
      @IansOddInterests  8 місяців тому

      Maybe not the finest, but undeniably the men were the bravest, especially those who served in border counties and had no protection as they went home every night.

      These are proud British soldiers. Your username suggests you should understand that.

    German army marched better in 1942!

      @IansOddInterests  Рік тому +1

      These men have left the army maybe 30 years before…so in my opinion they are very good indeed . But yep the German army was very disciplined especially at start of WW2 in 1939, by 1942 however they were ground to a halt at Stalingrad and from 1943 they had to retreat having to use old men and boys as soldiers.
