I’ve been there a few times with friends, there’s another basement level a good 20 feet underground. I think there’s a tiny hole in what was the great hall that you crawl through and it takes into a long (maybe 80ish feet) hallway about a foot wide and 6 foot tall that leads to a dead end. Really creepy

Yes, I am pedantic. NO, that is not a Browning pistol. It is a model 1910, designed by John Browning and manufactured by "Fabrique Nationale de Armes du Guerre" (National Manufacturing of War Weapons) in Herstal, Belgium. (Still around, called FN.) As a firearms company, Browning did not exist until around 1955. One notes the severe wear on the right grip panel and the much lesser wear on the left panel. For a right handed person - typically the majority in this era - the holster is mounted on the belt with the right side out. Having the left grip inboard would protect the checkering and finish on the left side a bit better. That pattern is observed on all sorts of 'working' handguns practically forever. On the positive side, Yes, I would like to have one. I collect select pistols of the pre WW2 era (at least designed then) and the FN1910 is high on my desired list. I do have an FN1910/22, but it isn't quite the same. And I quite agree with Mr. Collins (prior to me), Browning designs are outstanding. John M Browning was a genius in his craft, and is quite as important to firearms as Dr..Einstein was to Physics.

Nice video! I've got the Lot #256 Dated Oct 5 1886 and other than a chip on the bottom of the plastic grip it's in perfect condition. You are right about the trigger pull. I have to do some finger exercises to fire the darn thing. Otherwise it's clean and fully functional so I'll keep it for now.

There were lots of companies in the US making revolvers back then, which made competition for sales intense and kept the potential for profits low. Many of the bigger manufacturers offered a number of brands (with price-attendant quality) as a way to better make money. Most of the smaller companies made the cheapest possible guns which quickly broke or wore out in use, while others like H&A made good products worthy of ownership and use. Even with the quality, it should be remembered that most of these were built for black-powder pressures, and firing them with modern smokeless ammo can be dangerous to gun and user. The folding hammer spur on this one is an idea I'd like to see revisited; a perfect compromise between smoothness and utility.
