- How APTERA PV Solar Cells is shattering barriers to get into the low-cost production market.
Some concepts can be appealing if physics is not considered. Solar-powered cars, for example, appear to be simple enough-just mount a few photovoltaic (PV) panels on top of an electric vehicle (EV) and presto! The sun provides infinite range.
Up until you face reality, electric cars with integrated solar panels look like a brilliant concept. Even after Sono Motors failed and Light Year Solar Cars went into production, Aptera still makes wild claims.
What is Aptera solar cars' secret? Why did Aptera use solar PV cells with a curve? Does Aptera possess knowledge that we do not?
This episode looks at the potential and issues with solar-powered cars, including why they didn't succeed and what Aptera Motors is doing differently to make a difference.
Buzzing around in the full light of day sounds appealing. The sun emits enough energy, no doubt about it, but math shows that it's not as useful as it seems.
Sono Motors, a Munich-based firm, was forced to shelve plans to manufacture the "Sion," a partially solar-powered automobile, and instead concentrate on producing solar panels for other people's cars.
How New Science, Technology, and Engineering is Impacting our Lives, Environment and Civilization.

It's actually more appropriately called an autocycle. It acts like an automobile with the benefits of a motorcycle.
Well it is not said that Aptera will be successful but I sure hope so!
It´s about time for Solar EV´s.
Very good report. Refreshing to get a well informed perspective. SEV =solar electric vehicle hopefully the world will soon learn what that means.
Thanks
What does "How Aptera PV solar cells is shattering barriers to get into the low cost production market", your first sentence, even mean? It's nonsensical.
Also, no, Aptera's curved solar panels, overall, produce LESS electrical energy over the course of a day than if they used a flat solar panels. Aptera's solar panels are curved because Aptera's priority was vehicle aerodynamics.
I understand solar race car teams spend an enormous amount of time/effort in understanding the "trade-offs" between solar panel performance and the vehicle's aerodynamics.

Thank You
It fuels itself with up to 40 miles a day. How that was nonsensical to you proves you have a double digit IQ
Go Aptera
Thanks
Good holistic info piece
Thanks
A sprinkling of sometimes isolated facts mixed with nonsensical ai conclusions?
No! Written by humans. May be you just don't like the outcome of the conclusion
@@KineticsChannelThen do your research because isolated facts and resulting nonsensical conclusions remain.
First.
Yeah!
Why have solar when you can put a generator on wheels and recharge as you move
Hmmm.
It's that green?
Putting generators on wheels is called regenerative breaking and regenerative breaking slows the vehicle down and is very inefficient.
It already has regenerative wheels on top of solar.
@@alainchuzel8341How is recovering otherwise wasted energy innefficient?
Aptera is a motorcycle, not a car. And it is not produced. The expected production is very expensive. They formerely planned to build the chassis like a boat hull: vaccuum form 4 parts out of resin, glue them together, ready. Cheap solution. That did not work. Now they use a standard aluminium frame and glue expensive carbon planes onto it. These are produce in Italy and have to be shipped to US. Expensive. Like the batteries and the motors. The suggested retail price is pre-Covid, pre-Inflation.
Lo!
It is actually termed an “auto-cycle”…there are many videos illustrating how Aptera’s partners, like CPC and CTNS, are involved in the manufacturing processes, and why the upfront CapX costs are much lower than traditional automotive producers. The fact that very well known and established companies have agreed to partner with Aptera, though it does not guarantee the companies success, does support the idea that Aptera is a serious EV start-up contender. It’s probably well worth a watch (and read) before forming a definite opinion on their chances for success.
@@loums52 an autocycle is a motorcycle with 3 wheels (no sidecar). See aptera FAQ. It lacks all safety features necessary for a car. So it can be produced much cheaper.
@@loums52 aptera needs at least 300 mill to Start production, which they Do not have.
@@vic321344 well, will just have to wait and see but sounds like you have already made up your mind.
3 wheels equals vaporware
.... Aptera is actually funded by the oil companies it's called controlled opposition... lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.... You can tell Because the president of the company looks like an actor and everything he said can tell it's just script
It has been crowd funding that had raised over $100 million this far, no oil money, that is totally misinformation or bull dung.
Money from Abu Dubai might be forthcoming, but up until now it has not.
