Why practice usurpation and divisiveness, and doctrines of apathetic naval gazing, rather than the truth?
To delight in the Savior’s work, is to delight in Him.
John does not delight in the Savior’s work, choosing instead to practice flattery and pretense, and faulty divisions.

John has said this in an attempt to justify those who scorn the work of God, while presuming they are of His Savior.
John cannot justify the wicked by lying against God.
To delight in the work of God is to delight in God, because to delight in the work of God is to obey God, by Faith.

I don't know a great deal about Tim Keller.
      But...
I can only highly doubt that I will ever meet Charles Stanley.
There is strong reason to believe that he did not actually believe the things that he tought. His son Andy Stanley has repeatedly contradicted basic Christian doctrine.
I saw no indication that Charles Stanley corrected him. This would have been his basic Duty as a Christian.
One can only conclude that he was not one of us.
For proof text look no farther than the story of Eli the priest in the opening of 1st Samuel.

@@brianhale3678 C Stanley was exhorted by other well known pastors in 1993 to get out of the ministry because he was disqualified but Stanley refused. There is reason to think that book of his on eternal security from around 1990 was from his son's Andy notes in class from Zane Hodges at Dallas Seminary - Zane espoused antinomianism and actually did not understand the justifying and sanctifying power of grace applied by the Spirit.

We should train and disciple as best we can but the way they turn out shouldn’t indicate whether we have saving faith or not. David had terrible children and was called a man after God’s own heart. Never the less, I agree with you about his son. Terrible theology and not a Christian from what I can gather.

I'm not going to defend my position very vigorously.
Andy Stanley is currently leading millions of people into false Doctrine.
Charles Stanley's duty was to publicly renounce those teachings.
Many faithful pastors around the nation already have spoken out against Andy Stanley's confusing positions. His father, to my knowledge, did no such thing. And he had years to perform this basic duty.
Read further in 1st Samuel and you will see that Samuel had unfaithful sons aswell and he justly distanced himself from them.
-God speaking to the high priest Eli.
      1 Samuel 2:29 ESV -

Don't fall into the lie of shame brother. You should be guilty, which means knowing you have done bad, but not shameful, which says you are bad, which is a lie. You literally are righteous in Christ Jesus. He paid your penalty for your past, present, and future sins. As Proverbs 3 says, do not lean on your own understanding in this, but in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. His power is greatest in weakness brother, so take joy in your weaknesses. For when you are weak then you are strong as the end of 1 Corinthians 12 states. Read through that chapter brother, and ask God for the ability for you to believe it in your heart. Praying for you Wiley.

Jesus commands of all His ministry work: “Freely give.”
John would say: “I have given much freely,” while receiving money for all he does, under auspice of salary pay.

"Great grace and small gifts are better than great gifts and no grace" - John Bunyan, Grace Abounding to the Chief of All Sinners (305)
John Bunyan had the same view, he also said "so I concluded, a little grace, a little love, a little of the true fear of God is better than all gifts: yea, and I am fully convinced of it, that it is possible for souls that can scarce give a man an answer, but with great confusion as to method; I say, it is possible for them to have a thousand times more grace and so to be more in the love and favour of the Lord, than some who by the virtue of the gift of knowledge, can deliver themselves like angels"
This coming from the man who John Owen would have traded all of his knowledge to have had John Bunyan's gift of teaching.
Indeed, Tim Keller's thoughts were absolutely right, lets glory in the grace that God has given us, that He would write our names in the Book of Life. Incredible.

Tim Keller will be missed, but he is now with Christ, where joy is full and everlasting. Tim Keller was biblically balanced and precise. He avoided falling into errors which are common in our seemingly binary, politically-charged landscape. Keller stuck to the path and consistently delivered messages that were at the heart of the gospel. I think that Pastor John does this as well.
“He (the devil) always sends errors into the world in pairs-pairs of opposites…he relies on your extra dislike of one to draw you gradually into the opposite one. Do not let us be fooled. We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors. We have no other concern than that with either of them.”
    -C.S. Lewis

I wish that was true but the fact is, Tim Keller introduced many very subtle errors into evangelicalism, most of them opened the door for believers to hold worldly positions in opposition to Scripture. It was evident especially in the most recent years when Woke ideology crept into churches and Keller was especially influential in creating pastors who are afraid to challenge the world when the world or wordly ideology contradicts Scripture

@@smt0202 what kind of woke ideas did keller support?

    • @smt0202
      @smt0202 Рік тому

@@Kapojos please reread my comment - I said Keller was influential in creating pastors who were afraid to resist unbiblical worldly ideology, mostly recently wokism. His 3rd way-ism unnecessarily obscured and complicated issues that to a Christian should be unquestionable. Being in NYC, his goal was to try to stay neutral and not trigger sinners (especially since its a very leftist liberal city) - in doing that he compromised the Biblical worldview with the secular humanistic worldview. He taught pastors winsomness is equal to Christlikeness and so when the world arrived at the church's door step with their worldly doctrine, pastors decided they needed to be nice and let the world in, afraid to tell the world that repentance and changing of your ways is required first (because the world might be offended). That is how we now have evangelical churches operating with Woke and Marxist ideology, shoeing partiality based on skin color, gender, etc.
In reality, there is no "third way" - you are either with Christ or against Christ. There is no neutrality. And when you try to become friends with the world, you turn your back on Christ. I understand Keller may have done it unintentionally but that doesn't help things - the damage has been done and many, many pastors in my generation now think that capitulation to the world's ideological demands will somehow further the Gospel.

This should take the weight off church leadership expectations to remind themselves and their staff it is not about KPI but it is about your service to Jesus and to the church or the leadership.. great clip. Jesus did not have KPi … he only had expectations from His followers to follow Him whatever and however that was to be. Most churches are led by the world and not the other way roubd
