Definitely a metal kenzan, because they are durable.

When you insert then angle a branch, do you actually bend the pin in the Kenzan? Do you have to bend it back to the vertical position?
You are not supposed to bend the pins, but some pins may be bent. In such a case you can put them back straight using a small tool.

You don't want to secure the kenzan to the container. Depending upon the different syle, you want to place your kenzan at a different place in the container.
