UEFA Cup Final 1984 should have been Spurs vs Forest, as Anderlecht only got there by bribing the referee. Forest easily beat them 2-0 in Nottingham, then lost 3-0 away when it was clear that cheating was happening. Likely would have been Forest’s 3rd European trophy
Belgian cheating scumbags, the ref got his thought dint he,😂is it hot enough for yeah in hell you slag?🎵we all agree NOTT'M FOREST ARE MAGIC. 🎵UUUUUUU RED'S FTID.
I was at the icy City Ground for the first leg. My cousin played for Forest. He told me, that Cloughie said to them at half time on a frozen pitch, get me a clean sheet. The score was 0-0.
I was at the Home leg in front of 35,000 supporters Celtic had the entire Bridgeford Stand and the Trent End where I stood has never been so rammed - it was a absolutely amazing atmosphere
I was at the 2 games, Celtic should have won in Nottingham in the first leg, in a game marred by a terrible crush that injured a number of fans and stopped the match for 15 mins. But Celtic weren’t at the races in the 2nd leg, Forest were deserved winners. Great side.
Bitterley cold that night I was drinking cans near the river tre.nt not far from the ground 38,years on still drinking cans at home so many of my friends and work mates have died since quite sad ha ha it is what it is good to get morose sometimes all long as you don't dwell on the negatives to long come on the tricky trees
I was at both games aged 13, got crushed with crowd on a barrier at forest, couldn't breathe and thought I was a goner, a big guy some my plight and somehow pulled me out and definitely saved my life. Never met this guy again but I thank him. Forest better team at parkhead btw hh
Great vid - who knows, maybe such nights are not too far away again for Forest. We can only hope! One thing - the game was on 7th December, not the 17th. I know this because it was the day I was born! COYR
I like it when Scottish sides play English sides. I support more cross border cups between Scottish, English, Welsh and Irish club sides. At all levels of the male and female game. Keep the domestic Scottish, Welsh and English leagues. But have cross border cups like the old Anglo-Scottish Cup on top of that. For instance; Maybe invite all Scottish Premiership sides not in Europe, plus selected Welsh Cymru Premier sides into the English Football League Trophy each season. Or have cross border trophies involving the EPL sides and the leading club sides from the Celtic leagues. The cross border cups would be on top of domestic and European football, and would not replace the national leagues. The Scots were allowed to have Irish, Welsh and English sides in the Scottish Challenge Cup. I would love games like Dundee United v Wrexham, Aberdeen v Coventry City, Wolves v Glasgow Celtic, Man Utd v Glasgow Rangers, Hibernian v The New Saints.
I think with the disparity in wealth between Scots and English clubs, you'll see Premiership sides win more often than not, but Scottish teams always put up a hell of a fight, and triumph a few times.
No, Celtic had lost 1-2 at home to Dinamo Kiev in 1967, ironically their first game in Europe since winning the European Cup. Also lost 0-1 at home to AC Milan in 1969 European Cup Quarter final. Up to that point those may have been the only two gome European defeats from memory.
Forest 2nd goal - McAdam flies into Davenport with a totally unecessary slide tackle taking himself out of the game, Aitken then gets far too close and over commits allowing Davenport to easily skip past him and cut the ball back in front of goal for Walsh for an easy finish with rest of the defence caught upfield thinking they are Brazil 1970. Aitken blames everyone else. The Celtic defence wasn't called "The Sieve" for nothing back in those days. The 1st goal would probably have been enough for Forest anyway. Celtic had the basis of a good team and enjoyed some great one-off results (e.g. beating Real Madrid and Ajax) but were consistently knocked out of Europe in early rounds due to this kind of total niavete.
You only have to look at their defeat by Partizan Belgrade in 1989 to see their total stupidity in European ties. 5-3 up on the night and 6-5 on aggregate, but they naively plough forward in the dying minutes lose the ball at Partizan's corner flag and concede in the last minute to go out on aggregate. Billy McNeill was heavily criticised for not making a substitution in the last few minutes to break up the play. Farcical scenes.

Superb performance from Forest! May well have won the competition had it not been for the corrupt referee at Anderlecht.
Still breaks my heart that Forest was cheated in the semi-final against Anderlecht. Should of been an all English European final against Spurs.
to this day I want an derelict to lose even game never put them on my European coupon cheating b--------ds

one of the first games i remember. great comeback from Forest after 0-0 at the WFCG

I remember this game well, great performance from Forest. We were robbed against Anderlecht, dodgy ref !!

Many thanks for this video. I remember it as a 14 year old but had never seen any highlights.

Intelligent play from Birtles on that second goal - the way he gave time for his team mate to get into position for his pull back.
Think you'll find it was Davenport not Birtles but yes very intelligent
@@deanholloway8049 Doh - sorry no idea why I said Birtles. Brain cells going. Great all British match anyway.
@@LPCLASSICAL great game over the 2 legs . Would of made the final but for that corrupt ref at anderlect
remember this tie well I've never seen highlights before cheers for that 👍

Yass Forest !!
Oh dear Mr Aitken...😮😮
Celtic thought they had done the hard part by holding Forest 0-0 in the first-leg at Nottingham...
Little did they know
David Broadley are you aged 10 you taig bastard ?
@David Broadley Embarrassing.
@@09weenic who's d Ave broadly ? I can't see his post ?
Big mouthed Celtic thought they'd did the business in the first leg, and all they had to do was turn up at Celtic Park and finish Forest off...😁
Thank you.. Great video
Is it true that Celtic, up until this match, had never lost a home European tie?

@@tonybananas6688 That is an astounding record nonetheless. Thank you for the reply.
@@superyid2010 yes Celtic have a very strong home record in Europe although have suffered a few heavy defeats in recent years.

Celtic getting the runaround should have been 5 or 6 to Forest
Celtic were all over forest in the first leg
Roy Aitkin very slow and easily outpaced
... sempre e solo forza Celtic; ma onore al Forest
Celtic were robbed.
