Vintage Butcher Block Hairpin Table Makeover!

- Check out the makeover I just finished on this vintage Tuk-Away butcher block table. Years ago, it had it's original legs cut off and hairpin legs were added to turn it into a side table. It was in rough shape and super dry, so I sanded it smooth, repainted the legs & routed stripes, and added Danish oil to bring it back to life.

well done sir
Painting the grooves was a great idea! Looks fantastic!
Thanks! When I noticed that it had a little paint in the grooves, I almost just went with all white. Glad I added the other colors now.
What a great find, you need to keep it, it goes great with your farmhouse.
Yep, we kept this one. I know I'll never see another one again.
U! S! A! U! S! A! Way to make that stool great again, Kevin! :)
haha. Thanks.
Super cool!
Very nice !
Nifty table. Good job! For future rust removal, try Evapo-Rust. Cheaper on Amazon in a nice resealable bucket complete with dipping tray. I've used it on tons of things including antiques with great success. Non-toxic, biodegradable, and lasts forever. Reuse until it turns completely black then it can be safely poured into ground. (*No, I don't work for the company. I found this stuff when trying to clean up some old hand planes and it did a terrific job.) Thanks for sharing. Love the garage, yard and Craigslist finds!
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try it out sometime!
nice
Any tips on finding the kinds of pieces you redo? I'm wondering what your search history is like on eBay and Craigslist... love your stuff!
I found this one totally by accident. I occasionally buy furniture from some resellers that buy at auctions and estate sales. They listed some dressers on Craigslist (the metal and sunset dressers I recently redid) and when I was buying them, they sat this out there, so I snagged it before they could list it on Craigslist.
Kinda wish the legs were white what with the red white and blue internals.
That would look pretty cool and I considered it, but I decided to go with that classic midcentury black hairpin look.
