Thanks to you and your videos, my wife and I spent this summer digging a trench drain with several catch basins connected with 4” pvc pipe surrounded by rock.
We reused the dirt to build up the low spots that was adding to the backyard flooding.
At the end of a 50’ run we added the sump pump basin and pump.
From there we ran the 2” pvc to the street and we are adding a pop up emitter to the end of the run.
We tested the system and Holy Moly! It worked fantastic and just pumped that water clear to the street.
Being 73years old with Osteoarthritis it was a tremendous job that with your online help we were able to complete the project and save thousands of dollars. Thank you Chuck for all your hard work and the awesome videos that taught us how to do it.
Precisely !DOUBLE Thumbs up
Thanks as always Chuck! The one nice thing about the larger catch basins is you can get them with a steel grate, at a premium, but they can withstand a tremendous amount of weight without breaking. That said, those 6" basins are cheap and great, and use them frequently.
Thanks for sharing this information!
Thanks Chuck
Great job!
Excellent as always!
Catch basins work great. Love your videos except the corrugated pipe 😉.
Can I combine a catch basin with a French drain?.
I only need about 10' - 15' of French drain with a catch basin at one end and regular non-perferated flexible 4" drain line to discharge to a storm drain in the backyard.
I already bought the 6" atrium style basin and trying to figure out the next step.
What do you do if you have leaves and dirt, won’t to clog the line in a heavy down pour?
Won't the bigger ones give you more room for debris to settle also?
