  • Join the Rolling Rucks doing something a little different this week, a static caravan. We venture down to our old turf Tenby in Pembrokeshire. Beautiful beaches and lots of family entertainment in the area but we are checking out some static caravans.
    We are a family of five vlogging our journies and travels in our motorhome around the UK and EU.

    As an unregulated industry, they rip you off when you buy but people are too hooked on the dream till something changes...then they think the park are unfair offering them so little when they upgrade or sell but the truth is you are ripped off massively when you purchase. Statics don't cost a lot, parks buy them for up to 50% discount but make up any selling price they like. They give you the Glass guide (true price when you sell). People need to research before buying as lots of shocks can await.

    I’m glad it was a treat, I was thinking how is the UA-cam going to work in a static, but obviously it does as a treat 😊

    Fantastic guys thanks for another great vlog👏🏻 Tenby is our favourite place it's lush down there! It holds so many fantastic memories for us, it really is and always will be a special place in our hearts❤We had a static caravan (or several) in Kiln Park for nearly 17 years, we were in Sandpiper just behind the putting green,
    it was amazing we then done the mistake of upgrading and moving to Sandmartin where swiftly upgraded again to Caldey View, next to where you were staying. By this point the children were older and we decided to buy a tourer as well as the static and rent out the Static to cover some of the ground rent. What a major mistake😢 People never respect your stuff like you do and therefore we had so many problems that we lost the love for our static. It also came to the fact that University fees for our eldest had to be paid for and therefore at the time nearly £6000 site fees (when we sold the van) that had to be paid upfront in the march of each year was the final nail in the coffin. So we sold up and put that money towards University fees. Then after both children had moved out and and were set up we decided to purchase the touring caravan again and to spend quality time on us! and we love it! What ever you decide we'll be here on your journey. Thanks👍🏻

      Wow 17 years? Fantastic you must have enjoyed your time there! To be fair Tenby is fantastic for families so much on offer isn’t there? Thank you for sharing your experience and we are glad you have your tourer. No one or any money can steal your memories.. thank you for your support as always x

    Static caravan is great if you want to keep holidaying in the same place. I'd prefer the motorhome or campervan.

    Very enjoyable video. We thought of getting a static last year until we looked into the site fees etc... We will stick with a Moho for now 😂

    Oh no, Not Tenby, nightmare holiday, in the 90's. That was the site my brothers' took their caravans, we were sleeping in big bruvs awning. It poured down, it leaked, the bbq callapsed, we went home after 3 days coz hubby took ill, he couldnt walk far & used a wheel chair & we hit hills everywhere.(Hubby died shortly after). So never been back. Maybe now I have a new hubby & a campervan I should try Tenby again. Lol.

    I used to own a static caravan at kiln Park for 12 years until couple years ago. They put the site fees up so much it was £6500 a year in end. On top of buying the caravan and they only allow to have your static to be 7 years old or younger.

    We loomed at static caravans but you don't get the same sence off adventure and can get bored off same place no freedom to go other places like abroad you got your accommodation with you all the best donny

    That caravan isn't actually £40k they are churning out new caravans with very low spec and charging big sums but a 2012 caravan may actually be worth more on the open market because it's higher spec. Not my opinion but one of the trusted traders in the industry who helps people as opposed to ripping them off x

    • @TheRollingRucks
      @TheRollingRucks  2 роки тому

      Hi Paul, you should way up the pros and cons of a static caravan and see if it is right for you. Our experience was they are expensive to purchase, you have annual ground rent and monthly fuel prices. We enjoy the freedom of the Motorhome but we also see the benefit for a static caravan XxRR
