I’m in elementary school going into middle school and I luv seating arrangements and classroom setup videos. They satisfy me bc I’m a broken egg. I literally am broken and not who I rlly was supposed to be.
One thing I learned from my master teacher was that when setting up your classroom it's so easy to hang on to things thinking they might be useful later. Don't fall into this trap! I get it as teachers we are good at hoarding lol. But one rule I always follow is to toss it if you don't know what you'll do with it! Not just for setting up/cleaning up the classroom end of year but this is something I do every Friday after school. Helps me declutter and I can always find things I need!
I’m now a year 2 teacher and I watched your classroom setup videos a year ago. I loved the blue and green color scheme so much, I used it myself. It also helped me organize and color code!

Arrange your furniture then walk around your room A LOT to see if it flows. Do this BEFORE you put anything in or on the furniture. Check to see if all students can see all the boards/screens they need by sitting in each desk. Then don't be afraid to move things if they don't work
I'm an old middle school teacher. This is excellent advice for a new teacher to consider and get ideas. Unfortunately, we may begin the school year with a virtual classroom!

Going into year three and moving rooms. My room will be significantly smaller, so I am also thinking about getting rid of my desk. I’d love tips and tricks on that. Also would love to cover a wall in bulletin board paper, but all my walls are cinder blocks. Any ideas on how to do that?

It was so hard for me to refrain from purchasing things for my classroom when I was hired last year haha I'm glad I waited as the cupboard space only fit square bins so...glad I didn't go buy a bunch of them only for them to not fit.

Can you talk about how you create lessons that fit the curriculum for your state, especially during your first year? This is really daunting to me, I still have three years until I have my own classroom, but I’m really curious on how you make sure you meet all the requirements.
My advice is to backwards plan. Take a look at what the unit tests are (what is it really targeting?) and also lesson plan based on the standards that are hit in those units. Hopefully this helps!
I would also love to transition to just having a small group table and no teacher desk! Would you be willing to dive into the dream you have for how you’ll set yours up and what you’ll have for a storage system?

I saw a teacher from Europe put all of her desks in boxes outlined using duct tape on the floor. She gave each kid a small supply box to keep in their own space! 😣 I’m nervous about this, too!

I use Booksource app for classroom library check outs- it's free and I like that I have my library list on my phone for when I'm in goodwill or a yard sale and see books to see if I already have a title

Hot glue to painters tape. It works on anything! Easily removable and doesn't damage the walls

Totally depends on what works best for you. I personally couldnt stand caddies because they got destroyed. I use a communal supply area

I have a small group table with two Trofast drawer systems from IKEA behind it. It works really well!

Also check library sales and definitely First Book. It is a website that sells new books at greatly reduced prices for teachers of at risk kids.
