Homophobia is not neccesarily a generational thing because I know several older people who are very accepting and people my age (teens and young adults) who are incredibly homophobic. Why would you want to buy a dodgy licence and then register a private contract paying again. Register is sign seal and deliver up control to a government. You already have the right. Turkey's campaigning for Christmas.
Daniel Murray Agreed. The Yes campaign are behaving like a fanatical hive mind on the issue and don't really want to try to understand the issues potential No voters might have. Most seem to be content with childish name-calling, which is hardly going to persuade anyone to change their minds except maybe those who were borderline, decided to vote Yes and then see those with the opposite viewpoint being castigated and vilified. The inability of the the pro side to give their opponents the same respect they are demanding may well result in a referendum outcome that they don't expect. The pro side needs to back off for a while, listen to what is being said and then answer their opponents without resorting to the hackneyed "homophobe" and "bigot" responses. Otherwise referendum fatigue may work against them.
Tom Sullivan and every time they say "it's about the right to love" or some other such rubbish, they block actual discussion... what is the proposition, what does it change, is marriage so tailored to heterosexuals it largely doesn't apply to gay people, is it inequality or not, does it involve children... dual messages, often at the same time on that one.... now they have given another dual message, on the same line this time though... "people who vote no, hate equality, oppose your love, and are deeply anti gay.... now ring your granny, the elderly may vote no, and use emotional pressure to get her to vote yes".... pure thuggery. They might as well string sausages around the necks of the elderly of Ireland and through them to starving pit bulls... even though I feel that may be unfair on pit bulls. Aren't the LGBT traditionally strongly opposed to bullying ? now they have a national peer pressure and bullying campaign, not just for peers and family, but elderly family? And they had such strong public support, there was no need for this... they fought shame with pride, now the fight agendas through elder bullying... that merits real shame.

The lad with the blue jumper in this video was the only one who had to back up his side (the yes vote) when his relative said she would go against it, and I don't think he did so in a hostile nature at all. I am a 21 year old man, I`m gay and I am so happy to see this video, Love has no labels. I am deeply in love with my 19 year old brother. Although it breaks my heart that we can`t officially be married yet, I look forward to the day we can. I hope it will be sooner than later because my Mum is just gone 40 and she promised that she would be a surrogate for our baby. Can`t wait for it. Unfortunately I fear that it might be a bit longer than the next five years but the way things are going you never know. Some people argue that you shouldn`t be allowed marry a immediate family member, but you can't help who you fall in love with. I`m just being who I am. Also any medical problems like close blood ties can be solved with medication and if not we can just get a different surrogate. It`s sad that there is so much bias and prejudice around. I look forward to the video that's has a same sex/same family couple in it. Don`t judge, Love. Peace.
Hi Emma, I actually wrote this comment to highlight the fact that by stating that marriage can be defined in any way we choose, which is what same sex marriage campaigners advocate, then logically ANY two consenting adults regardless of gender or family ties would be able to be married. If same sex marriage is allowed, their is nothing to stop the floodgates opening. Bringing children into this social chaos, where your mother is your grandmother, is absolutely insane. I urge you to research this issue in greater detail and understand just what is at state. Take care.
