🎼🎶🍑 Today's highlighted hymn reminded me of a comment I made nine months ago regarding the hymn, "There is a Great Mystery ". Brand new to the songs of NYC Young People, "Mystery " mesmerized me with unfamiliar words and terminology in 2021. Hearing it plus 5 other NYCYPCD songs on the radio...(well, you know that story by now...), I enjoyed the melodies, instrumentals, harmonies...everything about the hymns. Had I heard today 's hymn on the radio with the other hymns, my reaction would be strange...completely different terminology from what I was accustomed to. Yet I made up my mind to find out more.
And now I have. Almost a year later, having acquired many of the CD's and having read a lot about the Lord's Recovery doctrine, I was prepared for the hymn today. This hymn is on one of the original 4 CD's I purchased, "I Am Coming, Lord " 2017. This is solely my perspective and I could be totally off base. After all, I am Methodist and have been for 73 years....but I have opened my mind and heart to enjoy Christ in new ways, primarily through the NYC Young People's music. Here's my thought.
Our God, Creator of the whole universe and every square inch in it, made such a vast space of actual, not virtual, lands and treasures. God then created mankind to live as His Bride and Counterpart on this "ball" we call Earth, and to consume the abundance of wealth He offers...(just look at the images in this video). But it was not perfect until God Sent His Son, our wonderful Christ....the "Good Land " (Deuteronomy 8: 6-10). Jesus came to reclaim God's Children by sacrifice through atonement made by His blood the only way that He could. Jesus built the bridge to God's Glory with only 3 nails and 2 pieces of wood ✝️!
When we, as Christians, partake of all that this "Good Land " offers, we are taking Christ into our bodies according to His Purpose and His Plan! "This is our joy, this is our employ---Christ our Land". Christ is the All-Inclusive Land. This is my perspective regarding this truth bearing hymn. 🎼🎶🎶✝️. When the song says, "We've eaten Him. We're filled with Him", that's where the terminology went a little strange for me. Yet, I, as a Methodist take Communion (the Lord's Table) and repeat the words, "Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me." Is there any real difference? 🙂

In Deut. 8:6-10 The good land, the land of Canaan, is a full, complete, and consummate type of the all-inclusive Christ, who is the embodiment of the Triune God (Col. 2:9) realized as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45; 2 Cor. 3:17), as the inheritance allotted to God’s people for their enjoyment (Col. 1:12 ; Gal. 3:14 ). The riches of the good land in vv. 7-9 typify the unsearchable riches of Christ in different aspects (Eph. 3:8) as the bountiful supply to His believers in His Spirit (Phil. 1:19). The waterbrooks, springs, and fountains signify Christ as the flowing Spirit (John 4:14; 7:37-39; Rev. 22:1), and the valleys and mountains signify the different kinds of environments in which we may experience Christ as the flowing Spirit (cf. 2 Cor. 6:8-10). Wheat typifies the incarnated Christ, who was crucified and buried to multiply Himself (John 12:24), and barley, being the first-ripe grain (2 Sam. 21:9), points to the resurrected Christ as the firstfruits (1 Cor. 15:20). Vines typify the Christ who sacrificed Himself to produce wine to cheer God and man (Judg. 9:13; Matt. 9:17). The fig tree speaks of the sweetness and satisfaction of Christ as the life supply (Judg. 9:11); the pomegranates signify the fullness, the abundance and beauty, and the expression of the riches of Christ as life (Exo. 28:33-34; 1 Kings 7:18-20; S.S. 4:3b, 13); the bread signifies Christ as the bread of life (John 6:35, 48); the olive tree typifies Christ (Rom. 11:17) as the One who was filled with the Spirit and anointed with the Spirit (Luke 4:1, 18; Heb. 1:9); olive oil typifies the Holy Spirit, by whom we walk to honor God and whom we minister to honor man (Gal. 5:16, 25; 2 Cor. 3:6, 8; Judg. 9:9); and milk and honey (6:3) speak forth the goodness and sweetness of Christ . Stones signify Christ as material for building God’s dwelling place (Isa. 28:16; Zech. 4:7; 1 Pet. 2:4). The iron and copper are for making weapons (Gen. 4:22; 1 Sam. 17:5-7) and typify our spiritual warfare by which we fight the enemy (2 Cor. 10:4; Eph. 6:10-20). Iron also signifies Christ’s ruling authority (Matt. 28:18; Rev. 19:15), and copper, Christ’s judging power (Rev. 1:15 and note 1). The mountains from which copper is mined signify Christ’s resurrection and ascension (Eph. 4:8 ).

Thank you for the very detailed explanation that actually clears up my confusion about "eating Jesus". It is abundantly clear that I did not dig deeply into the Bible text for this hymn. I do hope others will stop by this wonderful hymn and read your reply. Very informative.
By the way, the tune of this song is , (in my hymnal), "Jesus is All the World To Me"....very close to the meanings you explained...Jesus is Everything ...He is the Good Land you described. Thank you! 🦋

    Jesus, the all-inclusive land,
    Is everything to me:
A Christ of brooks, of depths and streams,
    And fountains bubbling free.
Springing from valleys and from hills,
Flowing till every part He fills,
    He waters us-how glorious-
    By His life!
    2
Jesus is now the land of wheat-
    Incarnate, crucified.
    But resurrection life is He
    By barley signified.
He is a land of figs and vines-
Blood of the grape, the cheering wine.
    With such supplies He satisfies-
    Christ our land!
    3
O what a rich, abundant Christ:
    Our pomegranate true,
The olive tree whose oil is now
    Anointing us anew.
Rich milk and honey He doth bring,
    Sweet, satisfying, nourishing.
Our Christ is such; He is so much!
    What a Christ!
    4
In our good land we eat the bread-
    There is no scarcity.
We never lack one thing in Him,
So rich, so full is He.
    He is a land so vast, immense;
He is complete in every sense.
How He expands-land of all lands-
    In our heart!
    5
Christ is a land of iron stones,
    Whence comes authority.
We must dig out this solid Christ
    To bind His enemy.
Then we must through the sufferings pass
To be refined as burnished brass.
With iron bind, as brass refined,
    Is our need.
    6
Lord, how we bless Thee for this land,
    The all-inclusive Christ!
We’ve eaten Him, we’re filled with Him,
    O how He has sufficed!
    Teach us to labor constantly
    Upon this vast reality;
This is our joy, this our employ-
    Christ our land!
