Great video, without UA-cam and great guys like you I wouldn't have the confidence to have a go myself. I've been screwed over by garages for years and some mechanics thrive on the fact that even simple jobs seem like witchcraft to the average Joe on the street. You delivery is chilled and easy to understand. Thanks again my friend for your sterling work. KEEP IT UP!!! pleeease!
Maybe you should consider mentioning one of the reasons the turbos fail on these engines. Oil starvation. The banjo bolt that goes into the block and sends oil to the turbo has a little screen inside it that restricts oilflow to the turbo. It need to be removed. ;) I have just broken the turbo on my 1.6 HDI engine and now I have removed the screen to prevent it happening again. :)
Perhaps the best video on a focus turbo. amazing. After instaling the new core, does the turbo need to be calibrated some how? Or is it "just plug in" Thank you a lot. Keep on the great work
Hey man great video,as said these engines are in about 6 different car makes, I'm unlucky enough to have one in my van. So you are helping a hell of a lot of people. Thanks Just subscribed.
Hi nice video. I rebuilt my turbo last weekend and fully stripped cleaned out all the engine oil parts inc the intercooler etc as the oil had leaked through all the system on my 1.6 tdci Fiesta. After a good run after start up everything seams great, but I did notice on rebuild that the turbos actuator was quite weak! Like the spring may of over heated etc when the turbo had failed. So I've ordered a new actuator and I'm looking to fit this weekend. The only problem I have is how to set up the actuator arm correctly on the turbo for optimal boost? Do I set the arm so the spring pressure touches the waste gate fully closed? Do I set the arm so as to set the waste gate with some spring pressure in it? Should it be lose e.g. The waste gate always lets a little air past it even when on full boost? I really don't know? Or should I try to set the arm the same as the one that is been removed, that maybe difficult? I've searched the web to no answers. All I know is that the vac pull the actuator and in turn the waste gate fully open on start up. No matter how I rev the car stationary no load the actuator does not move at all. Maybe due to the weakness in the spring mentioned? I don't know how the system fully regulates turbo boost pressure or what that pressure should be at max boost? I'm imagining about 14psi? I don't know though? Should you close the waste gate totally and adjust the arm accordingly and put on nice and neat and the car ecu controls the boost pressure and will regulate it at the ecu end? Any help would be apriciated on this as I'm pretty stuck and would like to know how the full system works on these engines. Had Subaru stis in the past, so not right sure how to set up vacuum set up turbos on derv engines? Maybe it might mean I try and set best I can and have my local turbo specialist set it all up on the rolling road, at an expense I want to avoid if possible? Any help oils be appreciated?? Cheers John
Nice video fella! can i make a request for a video? can you show what tools you use on cars? or a tool box tour? would be appreciated! keep up the good work
I have oil in all the inlet pipes and intercooler in full of oil but no play in the shaft and turbo seems fine, do i still need to replace the compressor?
hi mate great tutorial just wanna say what happened to the oil return pipe as you never put that back obviously originally it came as a sealed unit, surely that is needed to re-connect the pipe on install cheers
Very nice video I have the same problem that the oil comes out of the turbo But the question of whether I can do it to my turbo My car is Hyundai Altantra 2.0 diesel engine I'm afraid that the assembly will not be good because the parts need to match very accurately and then can make a problem with the engine Maybe it would be better to replace the turbo? Not only in this little part
+BMAC VAGS Hello, your video convinced me to do it by my own. For last 2 years, I have twice rebuilded turbo in my Fo-Focus 1.6tdci 80kW and before 2 days started again with whistling. I cant believe the service man now, I will rebuild it by my own. Thank you bro !
Don't start the engine untill u prime the turbo with oil by turning the engine over but don't let it start to build up oil pressure ,u could probably take the fuel pump relay out , other wise Ur starving the new turbo of oil , otherwise a cracking video 👍👍
Hi . Sorry I have a focus 2008 1.6 90 cp and is stoping and the only eror remeining is the egr . Can by the problem. ???some time ist start normali some time star very hard. Plecase hellp me.:((
