Jane & Finch was where I first lived when my family immigrated to Canada. It definitely made me stronger, made me appreciate the diversity, and made me work hard. I lost a few friends to fires, domestic abuse, and gun violence when I was really young (like 8-10 years old) which made me more resilient and unapologetic in achieving my goals. Like any neighbourhood, there is the good and bad.... Jane & Finch is no different!!! Let's stop the stigma, please.
well we know the stigma comes from the mainstream media. those people probably never even been to jane and finch in their life.
@@alextoronto5840So true! I remember getting interviewed by a local news channel walking home from school with my mom, and the reporter was asking us about the gun violence in our area..... Nothing about what I was doing at school or our favourite local restaurants...nope. The media truly creates the toxic narrative.
My first experience arriving from JA to Canada was Jane/Finch. That was in the 70's . So much have changed since then. But I still feels a sense of connectedness and although I no longer lives in the neighborhood..am an advocate for debunking the negative stigmatizism everytime!
Honestly, as someone who has grown up in this area, (went to school and has spent many a days roaming up and down JF Mall) this really touches my ❤️
"...know this: We'll be back."
Best outro I've heard in a while 😌
And we mean it too!
I am loving the positive real perspective -- the media is for many their source of education of what is happening the shame is the narrow perspective and not allowing all voices to be heard and seen to provide the real story. Thank you for providing a broader perspective 💕👏
Great to see Jane & Finch get some love. Been here since 2002. Not a bad place, just stay away from Gang stuff & you're good.
Statistically speaking Jane and Finch has amongst the highest crime rates and is just a shitty area overall. Having a bunch of bias people defending their homes claiming they think its safe and good doesn’t discard the facts. The facts don’t lie. And I’m not saying that there is no crime elsewhere but Jane and Finch is just one of the worst.
What's your point? The man fully said those things are true, but there are other things to the neighbourhood. You don't live here, so stop your noise.
Indian man was jokes..in a good way
Right lol bless him
poh-pies!
He was such a kind soul 🙂
Did he say he gets burgers at popeyes?
Great piece. I live in the east end upper beach area. I love visiting all areas and communities and neignbourhoods of our great city. Onward and upward Brandon!
Hi Dakota xo 🥰
Excellent brandon keep up the hard work your show is going to be biggggg from. Toronto east end
Brandon deserve more views. Love for North York.
much respects to you and I wish that your channel gets recognized!!! I'm personally not from the jnf area but when im there theres always a great vibe.
I was born and raised in Jane and finch Grandravine dr, family moved from there when I was 10 years old. My siblings and I are successful, wouldn’t have changed my past, I loved living there, it’s apart of who I am today.
❤️❤️❤️ loved this! It shapes you and I am proud to say I lived there and I could get all my favourite products and grocery items in one intersection 🤯😍🔥🔥🔥
Jane and Finch used to be mainly populated by Italians back in the 60s/70s. It was a different place then. Its been over 40 yrs since I’ve been there and unfortunately it does have a bad reputation but I think thats likely due to the media. You only ever hear about it when there’s a crime. Its nice to see that the people in that community are proud to be there. Im certain there is so much positive there but you just dont hear about it.
Great video brother 👍🏽very Entertaining
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 As a former Jane & Fincher I approve this message! Love the grassroots efforts to get a deeper look at the Jane & Finch area. Subscribed!
Great job; you do good work and have great presence. I love this cause there is a prevailing misconception about Jane and Finch. While there are issues to be dealt with, most of the people there are just like everywhere else.
Congrats on your amazing show Mr Gonez! Great move! On another note we must refrain from using stereotypical word/s "NOTORIOUS" to describe certain kinds of people or communities, we must use positive genres that is conducive to all of us doing well.
I am from there! I lived there and when I sat where I grew up they say I am surprised you are still alive. But I am proud that I am from there
Once the Finch LRT is done, property values are gonna go up, which means rent will likely go up too. Is this good or bad? Who knows. But Jane & Finch could possibly become very different in 5-10 years.
Ma hood wasn't far from there, Jane/Wilson. It's a tough neighbourhood, poor neighbourhoods have less opportunities for making an honest dollar, but I have so many awesome memories. I moved out with my family in 1990 to a smaller city. My Aunt and Uncle still live in the area. 💕🤗 whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger, and more tolerant of other culture's and opinions. And I'm white, 5th Gen Canadian, and I'm proud to still call some of the people I met in my neighbourhood as my life long friends. 👍💕
I loved the jane and wilson neighborhood. Chalkfarm got a bit rough at times so did Falstaff but I lived in Exbury Drive Apts. and loved it.
I grew up in the mid 70s at 15 tobermory drive which is just east of jane off of finch. Our family was one of the first familys in the building and I never had a problem. Its one big family but if you were and outsider causing trouble then that is where the bad name came from.
This was amazing. You always only see one side of everything. This definitely changed my view of Jane and Finch!
This was absolutely amazing! What a great community to start this segment with!
Great interview Brandon! It is awesome to get a true perspective from people who grew up there.
Yes can’t wait for more episodes
We ❤️ to hear it!
Keep showing the ture aspects amazing
Wow!! You came into my community to show how positive it is. Big ups to you 🙌🏿
You're dope! keep our communities alive bro!
I have lived over 10 yrs in the Jane & Finch - Jane & Shepperd area and I am very happy to see the positivity and not just about the few bad apples in our mist..We have such a diverse culture population and MANY hard working families...Big up Brandon on his new endeavor👏🏿🇯🇲 looking forward to more topics

Fcking amazing, see the area portrayed in a different but real way!

Great episode! So glad you are doing this!🔥
Jane and finch isn’t bad i was born there and i currently live in Brampton and Tbh Jane and finch is more safe then Brampton
And Jane and finch is known for the multiculturalism Jane and finch is what u cal home it’s where most 90s babies started to grow to who they are rn i am and always been proud to say I’m from Jane and finch
I hope you cover the changes happening in Jane and finch and how it’ll effect my community in positive and negative ways.
Appreciate seeing some positive views coming from a member of the CP24 team compared to before 2021.
All the things happening here, happens everywhere including downtown Toronto but the only place shown is this area and therefore has led to an extremely bad reputation.
Great report!
Amazing Amazing Amazing!!!
facts!
Thank you for highlighting this neighbourhood that is so diverse as the man said in the video. I spent my first 8 years of my life in this community...there's lots of good in it as well!
The best line, I am a newbie, it's my first winter time as you can see lol these were my lines too when I move here also, lol. Oh no he said please cut that out dwl but I know what he means Popeyes is not that bad for real. Guess he has never been to places like Onyxx, Jerk Paradise, or Chris Jerk but that's just the Jamaican in me I don't want to do too much so I am out. #BGsquad
One of my best teacher lives there. She raves about it.

As someone who grew up in Flemingdon Park, this warms my heart!!
What?? WHY?
Love this! ❤️
i love this
like every other neighbourhood? stats don't lie, bro
What stats?
@@Jrsmith416 Statistically, violent crime is high in Jane and Finch. According to Toronto police data, 31 Division - which has an area of responsibility in western North York - in the past 10 years it has seen far more shootings than any other of the city's 17 police divisions.
I still see no stats and 31 division cover much more than the Jane and Finch area
Next do gastown in Vancouver
