So Doug, you know people making $30,000 a year. Why don't you do two things... pay them another $30,000 at your plant and double the GST refunds for everyone else still stuck making only $30,000/yr?
    Eh? Why not?
Pittance tax cuts hurt the $30k wage earners in loss of services paid for with progressive taxes.

Loss of service???? Since when you're supposed to depend on government to run your life? It's not the taxpayers responsibility to support you. That's how the Soviet Union went belly up. California is going belly up with this thinking. There was a time when 30K was very good salaries. Your paycheck gets stripped away and that's why you have nothing left. Government sifoned the money.

I miss his social-service slashing, cracksmoking embarrassment of a brother. Kept things more entertaining than the 50-year old conservative 'cut taxes" strategy to lure people in with.

Doug Ford speaks - Avi listens with a modicum of respect (i.e. quietly).
Avi begins to speak, constantly interrupted by Ford with generous dollops of phony indignation. Buffoonery.

That's right dude! And they do the same here in the USA. (Kelly Ann Conway won't let anyone speak and never answers directly should they manage to ask a pertinant question). It's a giveway sign for when one's opponent has no policy and no facts to stand on. I wanted Avi to go into the weeds (as he suggested) instead we keep hearing about these wonderful "job creators!" What about the conservative's initial point where he said his blue collar buddies were working these great jobs but couldn't pay their hydroelectric bills? Yea they create jobs but not jobs that pay them a living wage while thise billionaires make 500 and 1000 times more than their slave wage laborers. Why? And often the billionaires pay less taxes percentage wise than their blue collar workers. Why? Why should they get so much more? Their companies are dependent on the blue collar worker --how much profit do these billionaires need? They can't take it with them, can they?

So, then what do you do?? Consfiscate their money? GUESS WHAT. THEY WILL SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN AND LEAVE. Remember how the Soviet Union tried that?

'The worst crime that could ever befall the working people is that they work for a company which fails to operate at a profit' . The Westons are a blessing to this country

    • @darkstarr1729
      @darkstarr1729 7 років тому +3

Nobody said they shouldn't make a profit. Just share it with the workers too. Otherwise there won't be any workers left. How much is enough profit? Why not reinvest in their workers and their companies to grow both? Why should they have billions while their workers struggle to pay their bils. We can do both. There's more than enough to go round for everyone! Don't buy the billionaire brainwashing--it's a big lie!

The worst crime of all is sucking your fellow humans dry and breaking their backs feeling like the Patron Saint of the country while you rip off the poor. It's not the poor who are the leaches--it's the bloody aristocratic billionaires. I'd like to see them survive 6 mos of poverty and homelessness. That would be a real event. I don't know if they'd learn anything from it--but at least it would give them the opportunity. Stop worshipping the almighty dollar and worship the human spirt and our mother earth. You can still make aprofit--and so can all of us.

You must be referring to the oil and gas industry, which is insolvent if you take into account their legal obligation to clean up their mess.

"I'd like to see them survive 6 mos of poverty and homelessness"
since they are hardworking and competent they would find a job and work there way out of it ...
"The worst crime of all is sucking your fellow humans dry"
are you one of those people who thinks business owners and CEO's are just sitting in their offices drinking whisky and smoking cigars all day while everyone else works ?!
you wouldn't last one week running a billion dollar company most of those people are putting in 80-100 hour work weeks every week ... they are not just working 40 hours a week clocking out going home and forgetting about their work like most people do.
running a company is a much more stressful and difficult job than being an employee.
"You can still make aprofit--and so can all of us."
ah one of those guys who talks of corporate greed and then immediately holds his hands out asking for free money, money that came from his bosses hard work ...
why not build your own business work very hard and then give away as much money to your employees as you feel they are entitled to instead of holding your hands out and asking for everything to be handed to you on a silver platter ...
you know there is a reason that immigration from canada to the united states is higher opposed to the other way around , because the hardworking people do not like being taxed to oblivion to support unproductive freeloaders ... why does canada have a hard time keeping doctors ? why do engineers prefer to move to america ? because they have more freedom to enjoy the fruits of their labor in a society that is less taxed and regulated ...
do you even have a job dark star ? how old are you ? where are you getting all these wacky ideas from ?

And who is to decide what they want to do with their profits? If you think they make too much profit, then start a business and pay your workers whatever you wish is fair. That's what's wrong in this country. "Gimme gimme gimme, because i'm entitled to it". What a disgrace.
