Yes, IIT /IIM are premium institutes and if someone can complete the course with good score, you will get a preference in companies for sure. the course structure is good and if one can go through, it gives a minimum grantee that the person is resourceful. So it worth every penny spent.

If u ask me, the most valuable ones are the premium institutions like IITs/ IIMs. precious IIITMK / digital university of kerala are also good. State universities like Kerala University conducts data science master degree programs, which are also good.
