@@ivd1555 Oh that's really cool! I'm doing some casting at home and I'm having issues with aluminum sticking to my steel mold. What ratio of chalk, water, and sodium silicate do you find works best as a release agent? Thanks!
@@ivd1555 thanks, so it is a mix of about 50% chalk and 50% water with a little bit of sodium silicate then? Sounds like it's not an exact science. Yeah I'm trying to cast some aluminum round stock with some steel pipe, much like this video ua-cam.com/video/mfoFLx67tWk/v-deo.html my aluminum just gets stuck in the pipe. I've tried hammering but it won't move. Because it's a pipe I can't adjust the draft angle, but I'm hoping a little release agent will allow me to hammer the aluminum out. Thanks again!
It is nice that your are molding at home but to make a mould you may need machine tools, without that you can't go with it, better to consult a professional die maker nearby. for mould material you can use cast iron, sg iron or hot die steel HDS
What he spray in beginning?
Great work
Iron casting k liye m permanent mold kha banva sakta hu ? Or kiss material ka banega ?
Man, that was inspiring. I'm looking for "thin" aluminum casting and came to your vid. May I ask, how much mm of thickness is the end product?
4mm
How I made mould like this ?
What is being sprayed on the mold at 1:18 ? Is it talc/baby powder? It looks like some sort of release agent.
Yes it is the chalk powder mixed with sodium silicate and water

1:20 part powder with water and a tea spoon of silicate, try this and reply, mold releasing draft also matters.
