  • Highlights from video shot by Dave Pence during a deep (100-110m) dive off Moorea in February 2012. The clip includesthe first in-situ images known of Centropyge (Paracentropyge) boylei, and also includes two undescribed species of the damselfish genus Chromis (one known also from Fiji, and another known also from the Cook Islands), as well as a few other interesting species (Pseudanthias privitera, Pseudanthias ventralis, Genicanthus bellus, Centropyge multicolor, Liopropoma tonstrinum)

    Peppermint... Ventralis... I did see a Multi-Colored Angel as well. Very cool

    Incredible shot of the Boylei at 2:41. Shame it was so fleeting but if anything, it adds to the mystery. Very lucky videographer!!!

    I used to collect a lot of the Pseudanthias privitera and almost got a caught a Paracentropyge boylei back when I lived in Rarotonga. Not as deep, think it was 200-240 feet or 60-70M. Amazing fish for sure.

    Fascinating video, no wonder the Peppermint (Boyle) Angelfish goes for thousands of dollars, a king ransom

    Deep Water Antias is in such a desolate deep sea.
