After having not come across any Flame Angels the last couple of years it seems they may be making a come back after being taken for the aquarium fish trade. Gorgeous fish!!
We've only seen 1 Flame Angelfish around Oahu. It lived between Kahe Point and Ko'Olina on a little reef that we used to plant broken coral on and clean up old dead coral. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, the aquarium trade got it and the nearby Potter's Angelfish from neighboring reefs. So sad! I'm thrilled that you're seeing wild Flame Angels as well. Very rare around here.
I see another angelfish to but did you know hawaii has a ban the cannot catch fish but the also said when there are enoygh fish in the sea they can collect fosh again to sell
Love how the angels and tang share the space

thats honestly horrible to hear, I'm on the hobbyist end of the aquatic interest, and I'm proud to say I only have captive-bred fish in my tank!

They are rare in Hawaii anyways, I’m sure the numbers doubled since this video lol
Omg, what is that other fish? It's even nicer than the flame
Potters Angel or perhaps my favorite Butterflyfish-The fremblii
Obviously..... did you think they went extinct or something ?
the notion that the aquarium trade has had any real impact on the fish population in Hawaii, is laughable.
