    I have a 2019 Slim I got last October. I added the 4.5"risers, defiant 16" floorboards and the Mustache Engine guards. I love the bike. I have had 2 yamahas and a Vic bagger and I have to say this is my favorite. It is a simple bike not terribly priced. And it so much fun on the backroads. Leaning in corners is ohhh so fun. Although I may need another seat after 3-4 hours my butt needs a break

    I bought a 2019 softail slim last year. The bike has such a beautiful ride to it. This is the third motorcycle I’ve owned and my first Harley. The previous owner put saddlebags, windshield, passenger seat, and back rest on it. I plan to put LED turn signals and running lights on it and a stage 1 upgrade.

    Thank you so much for your review. I've been waiting for months to hear others review this motorcycle. I got mine back 4 months ago and I was hoping I didn't make a mistake because of the high price. I feel better now that there's a positive review. I like how it don't need much throttle to move. Makes me feel more confident taking off at stops on hills.

      Yeah it is not a bad bike just wish it has some options at the price or a lower price.

    Thanks for sharing the video - well done! Love my 2016 Softail Slim S...also have a 2013 Dyna Street Bob and 2012 Sportster Nightster...the new bikes are very nice...prefer the look and ride of what I have though. Just need a Streetglide in the herd!

  • @getdealtwithquick

    Everyone prefers a different setup but IMO, 8 or 10" mini apes make for a much more relaxed and comfortable position on longer rides on these bikes. With stock bars, I always have to stretch my arms or lean forward, fighting the natural angle the seating would have me at. Result is back pain on longer rides. There's a reason why the heritage has them or why the touring bikes have the bars a bit further back, as well compared to these.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 років тому

      Right but the heritage and other touring models also have the forward controls as well vs the Street Bob's mids and that's where it gets awkward. This bike with slightly taller bars would not be a bad thing either.

    The Soft tail slim is my favourite of the soft tail line up but like you say over priced. If it came down in price I would consider trading in my 48 for one. Doing away with the Street Bob! Thats quite radical but I agree it is a mish-mash of a bike. Thanks Sir.

    I actually really liked the mid mounts with the mini apes on the Street Bob, but I also have never really ridden forward mount foot pegs for extended periods of time. Great review. I actually really like the voice over reviews more and more. I think it allows you to organize your thoughts and make it flow a little better.

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 років тому

      I have rode a Street Bob with the forward change and I like it way more in that configuration. But this bike would be the one to change it in the long haul. I do need to put a general question out to all about voiceover vs. live.

    I never heard those views before, but you are actually right. The Slim should be the base model in the softail range 👍

    • @RabidHedgehog
      @RabidHedgehog  5 років тому +1

      It is kind of a controversial view for some. They see the Street Bob as something that sells well. However, when I sold Harleys the Street Bob would set a bit before someone would pick one up. It was basically the red headed step child of the line, not a Sportster so not cheap enough, not a higher end Dyna or softail, so not desirable enough, but was a big twin with a decent enough price tag to sucker people in. And since they set discounts.... So that is why they are out there. The Slim on the other hand before the change sold well. It was comfortable, had the floor boards and better riding position, sat low enough for smaller riders and long enough for taller. Just a great overall cruiser, and had that 110 Slim S version that was a decent little screamer. So it had more going for it then, to me still more going for it now.

    I looked hard at this one when I was buying. I love the Hollywood handlebars and the blacked out over the bars and chrome on the Lowrider. I do like the full rear fender and the cast wheels on the Lowrider better though. Would love to combine features from both in one bike. LOL Ended up buying an Anniversary Heritage with the 114 used for a great price. Love this new Softail frame.

    Great information! You really helped me make up my mind. I wasn't feeling Harley's 2019 models, because the ones I like are either too expensive, or have that 3.6 gallon gas tank. I'm not paying over 25 grand for a glorified bar hopper! No 5 gallon tank, no deal!

  • @draganm7823

    I've ridden the Slim with the 103 and the newer 107 and the 107 wins hands down. Sure Japanese are cheaper but riding them and riding the HD, the experience is NOT the same. The HD experience is so much better, so in my opinion its worth the extra money, but Im an extreme motorcycle enthusiast and purist, for people who aren't as passionate, get a Kawi or a Honda, Suzuli etc and enjoy.

      Rabid Hedgehog what’s your favorite out of the new Softail lineup?

    • @theloveman9
      @theloveman9 5 років тому

      To each their own. The floorboards are one of the features that draw me to this bike. Had a 2012 Fat Bob with forward mounted pegs and my feet kept blowing off the pegs at highway speeds. It became very fatiguing to ride trying to keep feet on the pegs. Floorboards cure the problem.

    I can't say I like that cross piece on the handlebar ... not for me.

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 років тому

      @Incubus Rising There's something that keeps drawing me to the Softail Slim ... and as you say, if anything isn't quite perfect, it's easily improved or upgraded. The thing I like about the Softail Slim is that is doesn't have overly wide wheels ... I like something that's flickable and feels nimble. Having said that, I've not ridden any of the model range to compare how they handle.

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 років тому

      @Incubus Rising Hey
      Incubus Rising, if you keep talking like that, you might persuade me into owing a Softail Slim. Anyway, let's see what shows up in 2020. Good luck in your quest to fulfil your HD passion! :)

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 років тому

      @Incubus Rising It's unlikely I'll buy one (due to marital status), so I'll just have to make comparisons between the models. I like the Softail Slim for what it is, but would prefer it to have a 114 engine. The Fat Bob has an ugly exhaust system, but I like the idea of it having the 114 engine & twin disc brakes up front. The wide tyres of the Fat Boy somehow make me think that it isn't nimble enough, however I've not ridden one, so I'm not qualified to comment on that. Maybe 2020 will have something for us!

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 років тому

      @Incubus Rising I must admit, my local HD dealer here in Perth, Western Australia seems like a really friend bunch of guys, so no problems with getting a test ride. I'll go back some time and see what models they have on display. I know they have a Fat Boy and a Breakout, plus others on the floor (not a huge dealership, but been there since 1992). My brother is about to take delivery of a used 2015 Softail Fat Boy Lo that he got for about 2/3 the price of what it originally cost. But the current models with the Milwaukee 8 engine & new frame really stir my blood just thinking about them!

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 5 років тому

      @Incubus Rising That's a good agenda you have. I've been riding bikes since the early 70s, but never owned or ridden a Harley. Yes, I've ridden a 1200 Sportster Powered Buell in 1998 and a Buell XB9R in 2002, but not a real HD. Now I have a strong lust for them, helped by UA-cam clips like this one, plus my brother's upgrade from his 36 year old chain driven 883 Sportster he's had for 16 years to the 2015 Fat Boy Lo 103 due to be on the road in a week's time. I think it's important that blokes need their toys; even in their mature years. I'd be curious to see how much it would cost to buy a 2019 model in 5 years time, and how well they hold their value. It seems here that a 5 to 10 year old HD sells for about 60% of it's original price, then 'levels out' ... therefore a good used HD can be 'money in the bank' (ie, you keep it for a while & get your money back if you decide to sell it). Of course, I wouldn't want to be buying anything pre 'Milwaukee 8' based models. There's probably a lot of guys who bought new twin cam 103 models and the next year said to themselves, "damn, I should have waited another year". When you buy used, it's not such an issue when you consider the lesser amount spent.
