    You are so right with propagating. Since restarting my plant collection, I have mostly Hoyas and they have all been cuttings that I have purchased off offer up. I have propagated in water, in moss and perlite, pon, and stratum. I have been successful in each. I keep them on my west facing window sill (Cali). The full plant pots of Hoyas that I have purchased have all died. Mostly my fault, but also the substrate may have not been something I knew how to work with.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Ms Lita, I loved that you have explored so many propagation options and gathered all that feedback with different substrates. I think that teaches us so much. I've gathered some priceless feedback (aka failures) myself, and would have it no other way. With one skill you can fill your entire house with several copies of one plant. Love it!!

      Yeah, they are really showing out this year right. My guess is I'm staying on top of that water during this timeframe. I didn't travel for the Christmas holiday, so I was here to keep up the light and water for December. How about my nummerloides is budding again. My water jug stay getting filled 🤣

    Hi Yvette(sister giggles 😊)
    Awesome video! Super excited about this video because I purchased a Hoya a couple of months ago and I have been horrified to water it too much. Good thing is that when I purchased it and was bringing it home a stem with two leaves broke off because it fell over. I put the broken part in some water and now five weeks later I have one inch roots and three new leaves🙌🏽 now if I kill the mother plant at least I will have another chance😂🙏🏽💚

      Exactly Tracy. It 10x's your confidence in growing that plant and you get to have more plants that's used to your water, climate, humidity and the care you give. That's a win win win. I love that for you Sis.

    Hi Yvette. Today and yesterday was full of unplanned propagation! I'm struggling with my hoya compacta since it came with mealies. I finally cut it up, cleaned and put in pots. The nursery I buy from has horrible soil. So I rarely buy from them because the plants always struggle. I don't buy from Sellers online like I did when I first started my hoya journey almost 6 years now because I can compare the plants from different Sellers on Etsy. I will tell ya it's been a learning curve with hoyas but now they are thriving with the low winter sun in my South window. After dealing with mealies, fungus gnats, root rot, I gave into leca altho I took 5 hoya propogations today and testing in coco husk and perlite. That H. Chelsea is beautiful, just wondering if it has root rot. Mine is over 2 years, a slow grower but a pretty, underrated hoya. That Mathilde looks great as well. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to your next video. PS: I'm jealous of your flowers! Dee, LI, NY

    • @yvetteboonecreates
      @yvetteboonecreates  5 місяців тому +1

      You know Dee, the Chelsea could very well have root rot. I've had it in this same soil for 2 years, it probably needs repotting, but it could've dried out too much and now the roots are dead and rotted. I just checked on the mother plants and only one pot has soft leaves. The ones in water are doing just fine. I might have to pull that one out and reroot the mother plant. Thanks for that reminder. I'm also going to look up those other hoyas you listed in the earlier post. Maybe even edit my wishlist 🤣

      Okay, the hoya leaves are more than worth their weight in gold. As for the flowers, I think it's a maturity thing and a water thing....and I think they like flowering during my winter months. I also think that I chose hoyas that like to bloom a lot too. I still have some hoyas that have never bloomed.

    • @yvetteboonecreates
      @yvetteboonecreates  5 місяців тому +2

      Hey Kathy, I wouldn't get a pot twice her current pot size, maybe only about an 1" or 2" (circumference) bigger than the caudex. That caudex holds a lot of the water, so I would think the roots don't need a lot of access to water. A bigger pot would keep the roots moist for probably longer than it needs.

    Do Hoyas get chlorosis? I’m learning more about trees, and a light color could mean a lack of iron.

    • @yvetteboonecreates
      @yvetteboonecreates  5 місяців тому +1

      Great question Jeff...I would assume they do. I've been using liqui-dirt in their watering and diluted plant food that contains some iron. I really think I probably need to repot, maybe the dirt is preventing absorption. It's been 3+ years since I purchased, never repotted. I also know that sometimes when they get too much light, their leaves get bleached. Once again, our community is awesome🪴💚
